Tax Shelter Creek
Just sell this obvious tax shelter! All these reviews are spot on. As golfers, we just want to play this course like it used to be. What a shame that someone pays less taxes to keep this a cow pasture son they can make their money somewhere else. It’s probably Chinese owned.
No one there
I believe that they are going out of business. We were the only two players on the course. We had to find a a spot on the tee box without 8-10 inch weeds to play from! Clubhouse looks like it has been condemned.
What a fun layout but, never again.
Poor upkeep of the course
This course had a great layout, which would have made for a great day, but it was so challenging to find our balls it became irritating. The condition of the course was SO poor, we spent a ton of time looking for our balls when they were even on the fairway, as the fairway wasn't mowed with the grass being picked up, plus deep clover everywhere. There were piles of grass/hay left from the mower that basically swallowed up balls. We could see our ball land and then disappear, that's pretty ridiculous. The tee boxes weren't well kept either. Until this course is cleaned up, it's not worth coming, as we might as well just come in and hand you a dozen balls and leave. Also, having to return your cart by 5pm is not good either if you have a late tee time, as the course takes a ton of time to finish, especially with the lost ball situation. We didn't even finish. It's a shame because I really liked the layout of the course. It could be a great course to play, much better than an executive course. PGA type, if maintained.
The elderly gentleman that gave us our carts was very nice and helpful.
I would like to come back some day if it has better maintenance of the course. Until then, I'm afraid you won't have any takers.
This course is terrible
The only reason I rated this course challenging, is because of the condition of the entire course. I would not recommend this course to my worst enemy, it's that bad. Only two greens were in fair condition. The fairways and ruff areas desperately needed to be mowed. Some areas appeared to have been mowed at one time, the grass was not mulched, so there were clumps of dead grass laying top of some fairways and all the ruff areas.
Huge clumps of clover on some fairways all ruff areas, so if your ball went in, it was gone. Absolutely terrible place to golf!!!
Great Course Design, Horrible Maintenance
DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY! Castle Creek COULD be a great course; the holes are interesting & challenging. But the maintenance, of the entire facility, is currently so poor that there's no way to enjoy playing there.
The tee boxes are a combination of bare ground, overgrown grass, and weed laden. The fairways are narrow, but decently kept except for the overgrown, clover infested, sides and rough. Many areas are so dense that the only way to find your ball is by stepping on it! Our foursome 4.5 hours to get through 14 holes; then we had to quit in order to return the carts as required, by 5 PM. Finally, due to the poor grass conditions, you'll lose MANY balls (8-12).
Save your time, and $$ - go somewhere else.
Course Maintenance
Waste money , don't go to play ... fairway grass is over 5 inches , By maintenance guy say machine broken that's why can't cut over month .
you may lose ball dozen easy . Terrble ! ! !
Like an Easter egg hunt!
8 inch clover everywhere, they need to mow, especially the fairway and close proximity. Extremely difficult to find your ball.....
Course conditions and club house
The pro shop is poorly managed. The employees did not care and did not know about the conditions of the course. There were too many weeds and grass around fairways. tee boxes. the Greens were terrible. Dead patches.. Nothing compare to the pictures online..
Never again
Hire a grounds keeper! This course could be great but it is poorly maintained.
Disappointed
The course was very disappointing.
The condition of the course was absolutely terrible. Fairways have plugged holes everywhere, there is no sign of which holes you are playing on any holes, the greens had holes and damaged everywhere.
I was also very lost trying to locate next holes since there are no sign showing you where and which hole you are playing.. for what I paid for the tee time, I feel bad that nice lay out course was left untouched to almost not the place you want to go back in the future.
Sad shadow of what once was
I don't know what has happened out at Castle Creek but it is a shell of what it used to be. Little to no maintenance at all. Can't really even say it has fairways when you hit it right down the middle and then can't find the ball. The only saving grace are the greens. Small, quick, and true - pro level. And charging $65 to play is absolutely robbery for the conditions. The website pictures are obviously very old - certainly do not show the reality now. I hope someone or a group with money will buy it and restore it to what it used to be...because it used to be spectacular.
It was terrible golf course
No maintenance at all and it looks like abandoned place and no attendance.
Maybe it's just me....
Maybe it's just me but if you can't afford a lawnmower, maybe you shouldn't own a golf course. PLEASE SEE IT TO SOMEONE WHO CARES! Take the money and move on.
Course Review
Highly Recommend. Friendly staff and course in great condition.
Sad to see CC this bad
I hadn't played Castle Creek in about 10 years, but used to play this course often. It has fallen on really hard times. The club house is 90% mothballed; gophers, ground squirrels, and coyotes have taken over the rough. It is unfortunate, as the course layout is fun and it used to be a thriving course on the weekends. Now the only thing thriving are the pickleball courts.
The weeds and gopher holes are so bad in the rough, you have about a 30% chance of finding any ball hit into the rough. The greens were not as bad as the rough, but still need some major tlc. The "pro-shop" is essentially 2 drink fridges, and a few boxes of snacks.
I only saw 6 other people playing during my entire round (prime time on a beautiful Sunday).
I have to believe that the owner of this course is looking to dump it, as there is the least amount of support possible .
The course was run down due to the drought. There were leaves everywhere and you could easily lose your balls. The greens were satisfactory.
