Castle Creek Country Club

It had apparently not been watered for months fairways were dead and rock hard, greens were fine.

I hate to say it but this course has gone way downhill from what I can see. The greens are the only thing green at this course. Dirt fairways and gopher holes everywhere. I hope GolfNow takes this course off the app. I was completely misled and wish I had read more reviews. I only made it to hole 13 before I had enough. If they can get the fairways fixed this has potential to be a decent course.

The course is dead. Don’t even bother. We booked, thinking it will by playable, but upon driving up, it looked like an abandoned field. Fortunately the dude that worked there gave me a number to call for GolfNow. To get a refund.

Highly encourage you to read the reviews before going to this course. The course is in horrible shape the fairways are garbage dirt. However the greens are in really nice shape. Staff said the pumps were down /broken and we’re unable to water the grass. This course would be amazing with some TLC landscaping. All the fairways on the entire course are brown/dead grass and are potted with gopher / squirrel holes. Many times we’d hit right down the middle of the fairway and lose the ball and a squirrel hole.

This course is not worth $50 on weekend, I would save the money and go to the driving range instead of this course.

Played today. Had not been there in a couple years. Course is much improved over that time. Greens are better than I have seen them before at Castle Creek. Fairways are trimmed. Only lost one ball. Definite improvement.

Most people that live in our area North San Diego County know about Castle Creek. Golfers anyway. Great lay out and in the past a great course. Hands down. But not anymore. Sad how this course has lost its way. Not sure why. All the marshals blame the owner saying he's a complete idiot that doesn't know what he's doing. Don't know the owner, but from the course you'd have to say they're right. Either he's letting it go and going to build homes there or he truly doesn't know what he's doing. Either way it's in sad shape and it's sad to see it go.

Spend the extra $20 to play a decent course. Fairways are pretty much dirt. Super frustrating to hit off of. Greens aren’t horrible. Tee box aren’t level.

When I initially read though the reviews, I thought “oh come on. How bad could it be?” It was worse than I could have imagined. The grass was all completely dead. Gopher holes filled the fairways and tee boxes. It was not close to worth paying $45. Maybe $4.

I hate to be rude because the workers there were pleasant, but they’ve completely let the course go. There was clearly no upkeep on the grounds. 1/5 stars.

This course is extremely neglected to say the least.

Fairways are brown. No tee boxes. No concessions to speak of.............not even a cup of ice. Carts are from the 1960''s. Lots of gopher holes and even dead gophers in a trap. Poor critters. I hope they did not suffer from dehydration and heat.

The only two redeeming aspects of playing this course are pace of play and cost. Since we were the only two people playing, we finished under 2.5 hours. The cost was inexpensive. The saying: "you get what you pay for" certainly applies here.

The actual course layout was awesome!

Photos of this course are were drew by initial attention. Little did I know that they were actually outdated and did not reflect the true current condition of the course. I should have noticed the first red flag which was the “pro shop “. It felt more like walking into a convenience store with only but a pair of gloves to sell. A very limited selection of golf balls as well. The other sign should of been the overfilled dumpster by the golf cart pickup/return area . It’s seem like it had been weeks since it has been picked up as it was also overflowing out in the area nearby . Last sign was the poorly maintained and appearance of the golf course itself. Playing on dirt and holes is what I did not look forward to. Will never come here again.

By far the worst course in all of San Diego maybe California. Literally everything is dead. Paid for 18 left at 9 can’t get a refund for at least half my play. Said I have to contact golfnow. But you can’t contact them. It just sends you in loops when trying to find an email for them. Super upset I spent money here. They should be paying people to come play castle creek.

Pretty sure this is a money laundering front. All of the grass dead. Looks like you’re playing in the Sahara desert

Let me just start by saying this review has nothing to do with the quality of the course itself. I’ve played here a few times and I know it’s a total goat track, but truth be told, it’s a decent layout and fun place to crush 10 beers (as long as you BYOB because the proshop doesn’t sell anything, and I mean ANYTHING).

I called the proshop at 1:45 at ask if they were open. The manger said they were so I told him that I was on my way. While en route I made a teetime online for 2:30 (noting that online teetimes were open as far out as 5:30). However, I arrived at at 2:20 to find the entire clubhouse completely locked. No one was answering the phone either. I finally, ran down a staff member who informed me that the proshop had closed at 2:30. I told him that I made a teetime online for 2:30 and that teetimes were actually available through 5:30 according to golfnow). He was indifferent to say the least. Eventually, he called the “manager” and inexplicably put ME on the phone to explain the situation. I ended up just slipping the staff member $35 to play in some weird golf drug deal. Amazing that a proshop would just close without warning both in contrast to what was advertised online and EVEN AFTER talking to me on the phone and stating that they were in fact open. The whole thing was weird and unprofessional. And as said, the course is trash. It’s like a dying animal. Plus, our cart topped out at about 6mph which I guess was fortunate considering it had no brakes.
