SERIOUSLY?!!
I wouldn’t play this course again if it was FREE!!!!
First impression was good, as the girl in the pro shop was very cordial. Everything wen down hill from there!!
The fairways had numerous areas of bare spots/dirt, and even some of the greens had patches
That is nothing compared to the rough!!! As soon as you are off the fairway, the average height of the grass is 6 inches!! Seriously?
I’m a 15 handicap golfer, and I probably just missed 3 fairways.on the front 9. Guess how many balls I lost? You’ve got it, I lost every single one that was not in the fairway ! I was so disturbed, I just left…
I have been golfing for over 60 years (I’m 75), and this is the worst experience I have ever had…
SUGGESTION: AVOID THIS COURSE
Greens were terrible
Course was in terrible condition. Most greens looked decade and full of ant hills. Vickie the cart girl was the only positive thing there. Would not go back.
Worst course I ever played
Poorly managed, not taken care of, fast play since no one else was there. Tear up the whole thing and start again. I could have just left the title to speak for itself.
Worst Course Ever
This is the worst golf course I ever played. And even worse my dad, who has been playing 30 years longer than I have, also said it was the worst course he ever played. If they gave me a free round I wouldn't go back.
Great course marred by US Open Rough
Really enjoyed this course, and will definitely be back... but when we played it the rough hadn't been mowed in well over a week. The pro shop person that checked us in was super friendly and let us know ahead of time that it was going to be pretty brutal. And he wasnt' kidding. Their rough mower was broken he said, and also mentioned that it should be fixed within a few weeks. I would call to make sure it's mowed before booking.
Not a course for beginners or intermediate players
The fairways are not great and if you dont hit the fairway 90g chance you will not find you bald since the grass is so long.
Greens were very wet
Even when you hit the fairway there are enough troughs crossing the fairways that you still might lose your ball. Lots of places where it was hard pan or dirt.
The Colony
I play here all the time.. even started playing golf here Some 25 Years ago.. hard to believe it’s been that long but yeah.. if you don’t mind an Somewhat executive Style length course that actually plays long for an exec. (Or a short normal course or from front-ish tees on a normal length course) u might enjoy the colony or cal oaks as it’s called on here.. conditions can vary but not a whole lot.. its usually pretty decent..it’s a little rough around the edges but it’s not terrible to me by any means.. And I know what pristine courses look like.. (doesn’t mean I have to go pay 100+ dollars to go enjoy a round every time I want to play) greens are typically on the slightly slow ish side but I’ll take that over dumb fast any day but that’s all preference.. like anything.. great, friendly staff that is always a pleasure to deal with ! It ain’t no Torrey pines but for the price I think it’s Just fine.. some of the rough can be just as brutal as torreys though haha! don’t let the bad reviews stop you from playing it and forming your own opinion.. If you like casual, fun golf with an interesting park-ish style layout within a 55+ community then go play it.. if your a really picky about everything type then stay away.. but if your casual I’d say go play and have a good time out there ! I always do.. the end
