General Old
Greens were a little thick but this is the best course for your money
Improve
Compare to six months ago this course improved a lot very impressed with fair ways
Course in much better shape
The course was beat up after covid and water bill issues but it is in much better shape now.. almost back to normal
I’ve been pleased with the course conditions the last few times I’ve played here and the staff have always been friendly. I’ve played here many times in the last year and a half or so (keep up the good work)
General Old
Rode the Blues (6801/71.9/121) in 3.5H on a GN Hot Deal twilight. Played with Garrison, mid 90's and hazy.
Had not played here in close to 30 years. Remembered almost nothing about the course. Old school layout when length was the primary deterrent. Tree lined, narrow fairways, few straight holes with greens that slope gently from back to front.
Tees had good coverage and were decently maintained.
Fairways had good coverage and were okay to play from.
Rough very hit and miss. Some areas hardpan, some areas thin, some areas lush and some areas brutal with 3-5" thick rough.
Traps did not look good but played better than they looked. All I sampled had a decent amount of sand.
Poa Greens were soft and held shots like darts. Which means they alot had alot of ball marks that people were not fixing. Medium speed, I found that they actually rolled well once you fixed all the ball marks on your line.
No on course services. Carts very basic. Decent little practice chipping area and putting green. Restaurant open. I was in the area and found a really cheap rate, so thought it would be good for some on course practice. Based on prior course reviews, my exceptations were low. However, the course radically exceeded expectations. Decent layout, worth a play if close by.
Course conditions were poor
Tee boxes were not maintained, greens were not cut and the speed varied dramatically, fairways were not maintained or cut, some of the rough especially in the back nine were overgrown— balls in the rough we’re difficult to find, beyond the rough the course was bordered by dry dirt making it a very dusty place. I can’t come back to this place.
I am not sure if the pro shop attendant is a golfer but I found it difficult to check in —the experience was so poor that course, staff makes this a place I would avoid unless these are not important factors for you.
Best greens in the IE
I have been played multiple courses in the IE lately. Many are having issues with the greens. The Generals greens are in great shape! As always the staff is great as well as the practice area and food! Fairways have come back nicely from a previous issue... I'll be back soon.
Ok condition, great layout
It’s an ok course, fairly green, greens are slow, pace is slow. Complete practice areas.
Agree with NormJudd review
The "General" is back baby. Tee to green best value in the IE. The course condition was struggling with a water issue but since they fixed the water issue.... The General Old is back to being a great value. From huge practice facility, to friendliness in the pro shop and restaurant! Tee to green course is in good shape again! Great for practicing or playing and enjoying a cold beverage and some tasty food!
Great value
The course is coming back from the Covid mess. The greens are always great, tees and fairways are decent. They had ball washers out and bunkers were worked on and had rakes in them. That’s a nice change. The staff is always very friendly and the ladies in the grill are very attentive and whip up great snacks. It’s a fun track and a great value in the Riverside and Inland Empire area. We played in a foursome today and it took just over 4 hours at a very nice pace of play.
