Friars/Presidio at Riverwalk Golf Club

I've played here for years, haven't been back until now since the change with only having the 2 nine hole courses. You would think they would put more money into them with the change. Greens used to run fast and true, honestly they sucked and were way too slow! My most important factor about playing are the greens at a course and I was very very disappointed, they used to be so good here. Fairways are under repair on some holes and just not adequate on other holes. Price is way too high for conditions and pace of play slower than normal. Sand traps had real sand for the most part in the greenside bunkers. Honestly, I feel they are barely doing what they need to do to maintain course, just to get by as if the course might be closing in its entirety soon, it definitely feels it's half taken care of at this point.

I played here on a slow weekday. Nevertheless, the pace of play was painfully slow as usual. There was a 4-some, a 5-some, AND a 6-some in front of my 2-some. The staff really could care less. I mean why is the staff even allowing groups larger than 4. The course itself was burned up with large areas under repair. Oh, if you book a Golfnow Hot Deal, the course no longer includes the cart ($15 extra).

I booked a Golfnow Hot Deal for this course. Usually a cart is included in this deal, but Riverwalk has taken a hard stance NOT to include a cart when you book this deal. While this is a bummer, the worst part was how rude and aggressive the staff was when they informed me I had to pay for the cart. Clearly other Golfnow users have challenged Riverwalk staff on this point. However, that is no reason to be seriously rude every customer who has booked a Golfnow Hot Deal. This is a mediocre course at best so the staff really needs to treat their customers with more respect. The course itself was not in good shape and the rude staff was just ridiculous.

The staff was great all around the course. The course is a good layout, is challenging, and fair from the different tees and all skill levels. Conditions were maybe not the best but overall it was a good experience and would play again when in the area.

Problem started in the pro shop. Same problem as always. They always tell me the hot deals come with a cart. I normally walk. This was an exceptional hot day so I decided to ride . The ride guy in the pro shop said I had to pay for a cart. Repeatedly knocked golf now and said my problem was with them. I told him the Riverwalk problem is every other week when I arrive they change their minds about cart or no cart for hot deals. Still the guy in the pro shop was so rude it ruined my day.

The 6th and 14th hole restrooms have new coded locks and the Marshall on the course had no idea what the combo was. So two older guys were looking all over the course for a good hidden tree. Just poorly managed course with exceptional poor communication involving the staff and being on the same page. Won’t be coming back for a few months

Staff are friendly and the course is getting better than I used to play here.

The rental club is new, but it's a bit expensive because it's $50. 3 balls and a tee are free.

I want to play here again.

You would think that if you pay over $50 to golf a round, AT LEAST GPS would be equipped on the carts. The USB Charger in the cart did not work either. Greens were in good shape, but there were a LOT of ball marks that were not fixed on all of the greens. Fairways were burnt and dry.

I have played this course many times with a Hot Deal and always received a cart as part of the deal. The staff has always been courteous and helpful. On 8/16/22 I went to the pro shop to check in with what turned out to be a very abrupt staff person who then became rude. He told me the deal including a cart became invalid two weeks before and he complained of having to explain this to people utilizing the Hot Deals on Golf Now. He said the problem was with Golf Now and not the course. He was very agitated about this and verbally aggressive with me. He was obviously tired of explaining this situation to people which tells me a lot of people using Golf Now play at the course so wouldn't he more appropriately be courteous??? I was courteous to him in spite of his aberrant behavior.

I have played this course for years. It's in the worst condition I've ever seen it. Ground under repair everywhere on the course. T boxes in bad shape.. One was closed completely. It seems like their grounds team has no clue what they're doing.

This course is in terrible shape. A few of the tee boxes were completely closed and most of the fairways had many large areas of bare dirt. Additionally, the staff was aggressively rude which was just strange. My group had already teed off when the starter insisted on pairing us with a very late arriving group of beginner golfers. It made no sense and the starter was just plain rude and oddly aggressive about it. Also, if you get a Golfnow Hot Deal, you will be charged an additional $15 for a cart no matter what. The rude staff and horrible conditions really makes one think twice about playing here.

Greens were great, but worst fairways I've ever seen anywhere.
