9th Hole Mission Photo submitted by canyonman59 on 12/06/2012
The course could be in a better shape
It is a fairly straightforward difficult course
The pricing is absurd
Riverwalk is nice and central and easy to get to, but the course is not nearly good enough for them to be charging with they are charging.
125 for a weekend morning tee time is insane. Considering you could play at Torrey with your SD resident card for much cheaper.
Won’t be back again, pound sand.
The course is decent
Course is decent. BUt the club rental fee is too high. And. it is not fully desclosed. From website, it showed multiple options available to selct from. But it has only one option in reality. We wouldn't reserve had we known we will get such hard club to use.
not great
poor value
Greens were well kept
Fairways were not good, poorly maintained, lots of dead areas
Dirt Driving range - good for warm up, not for honing club distance
Food and drinks were amazing
$72 on gold now to walk, no way + !7 to ride. Not a good deal
Good layout; marginal conditions.
Fairways are inconsistently conditioned. The value for the cost is not there. There are many options in the market. That said, the location is central and convenient. There are better layouts if you are willing to drive 25 miles.
Rough Condition
Staff was friendly but was delayed because their pro shop computer was down. I’ve never seen a course where the greens were so good and everything else was so bad. Staff was friendly and layout was good but for the price and current conditions, this place is a hard pass.
Tips
Facilities are nice
Folks who play admit the long play times because its cheap and affordable for all players
Staff is younger so expect the same attitude as your teenage kids
Cart person will swing by 3-4 times good frequency
Course is extremely muddy and soaked. This is regularly the case
There are some bunkers that are only mid no sand
There’s a homeless encampment so take caution
Holes are close to each other so errant shots will happen. Take care
People don't honor pace of play but they do buy up beers and enjoy their time. Set your expectations accordingly to play 6 hour rounds *even* with morning tee times.
There is no GPs or communications on cart so you wont have luck requesting for help. No Marshall on course
Frustrated players will jump ahead of you
Note that this is a discounted golf course, so tee times will be 6-hour rounds. Many of the young and elderly golfers will be drinking beer and enjoying the sun. While some people do and will take multiple shots off the tee, the pace of play is not strictly enforced. However, there are a few holes with homeless encampments, so please be cautious. Additionally, there will be a few golfers who will jump tees to avoid waiting in line, so I recommend doing the same to avoid getting stuck too long.
The course is generally in good condition, except for a few really muddy spots and sandless bunkers. A regular golfer I was paired with warned me about these areas in advance, which helped me prepare mentally. A few holes require a forced carry over 200 yards if you play back tees, which should be fun. The water hazards and waterfall are a nice touch, and I love that the water is clear.
The greens are quite good, but perhaps because there aren’t many ball divots. Where there are divots (in the par-3 holes), I ended up repairing at least 15 divots (10 on one hole and 5 on another).
The holes are close together, so errant golf shots are quite common. Over 70% of the way along the course, you can expect to see balls coming your way or behind you.
