Green To Tee Photo submitted by gregjm1977 on 03/17/2013
Beautiful
The course is in great shape. Ive played here before so i know that the rough is deep and nasty and im ok with that. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because the greens need cut down. They are absolutely beautiful in appearance but they need cut.
Scenic course
Scenic course with a good variety of holes. Greens in very good shape. Fairways mostly good. The rough was not well kept. Outside the rough the area was left uncut and too high. Naturalizing a course is fine but it looked like just high weeds.
Not Worth the $
Played here several times over the years. Love the holes along & over the river but it’s not well maintained. For the mandatory $60 upfront cost I expected it to be really well groomed & it was marginal. Seems like they are struggling…..
Splendid Course
For this area it doesn’t get any better. First class course And First class people. Only drawback on this day was the workers creating noise around you on multiple holes. but they have to do it sometime Maybe they could kill the equipment till after your shot. Fairways and Greens are a 10 right now. Go Play
Pace of play terrible.
Nice layout but Needs maintenance in rough areas, cart paths and bridges. Greens and fairways are in good condition.
NOT A COURSE FOR BEGINNERS. Lots of dogleg holes, blind tee shots and difficult par 3’s. Pace of play is horrible. If you enjoy 5+ hour rounds, this course is for you. Don’t think I’ll return in the near future.
Pigeon Forge Diamond in the Fescue
Don’t want to play 5 hour rounds like at Gatlinburg and Sevierville golf courses? How about a challenging, well maintained course with a ton of bang for your buck? If you answered yes to either, than Island Pointe G.C. is right up your fairway! Speaking of fairways, if you can hit the Zoysia grass fairways off the tee, you’ll be set up for success. It’s like hitting off of carpet. In general me and my father found this course to be maintained quite nice, and the surrounding view of the river (which is traversed as you play through the front 9) makes for a wonderful day.
Bonus: As an out of towner, I accidentally left my golf balls in my other bag at home so we only had a few to play with. Unfortunately I didn’t realize this until hole 6. When I went to the turn, there’s a concession shack that didn’t sell balls but a course maintenance worker over heard my plight and gave my half a dozen used balls! Saved us from an embarrassing trip back to the clubhouse and the $20 balls would’ve cost. STAFF IS IMPECCABLY AND IMPRESSIVELY FRIENDLY ALL AROUND!
Could Be Great Again, But Only Fair In Current State
Not being from the area, hadn't played this course in over 15 years. Fairways and greens were in good condition for the most part. The biggest issue was the rough and any area not on the fairways or greens. Bunkers had grass growing in them and all around them; sand was hard as a rock. Course needs better maintenance. Areas around tee boxes were grown up. Rough was so thick and heavy it would be hard for tour players. This course was fine for most golfers, but it is far from what it was 15-20 years ago. Not crowded at all on a beautiful Saturday morning if that tells you anything. Perhaps financial situation dictates a lot of things. With better maintenance, course could be awesome again. Starter was very nice and well-intentioned, but he gave us a 10-15 minute speech about the do's and don't's as if we were about to play at Augusta National.
Challenging but fun.
Course is very difficult but unique and interesting. Slow because they let a group of six play together just ahead of us. But we will play here again.
Show me a better course under $40 !!!
Natural layout along the river…just a fun golf course.
Very fair course in terms of difficulty, maybe a bit on the easy side (especially if you keep the ball in the fairway - rough can be penal here.
Great conditions !! Can’t believe I played it fo aboutr 30 dollars.
Nickel and Dime Tactics
Classic nickel and dime tactics. Charges you fees if you use a credit card and wants you to book online to pay that booking fee. Refused to book a Saturday morning tee time while on the phone. Sucks really because I really like this course and I hear it is finally getting back into good condition.
Thanks for your feedback. In an effort to keep you (our patrons) and our staff safe, we implementing prepaid tee times during peak playing times. In fact this will extend to other days soon too, especially as there is rising concern over the Delta variant. This policy helps minimize the number of customers in the Clubhouse to check-in. As such, there are nominal fees which are charged by GolfNow and the Credit Card Company for the service. Those "classic nickel and dime tactics" are not benefiting the golf course, but meant to make it more convenient for you. We sure hope you will try to join us again soon.
Great course
Very helpful staff great course especially for the price.
Great layout, but the course is in decline
I have played Island Pointe, which used to be River Islands, since it was first constructed. Have not been the for the last 10 years. Course conditions are clearly deteriorating. The greens and fairways are still good. But the traps are basically the remnants of mud puddles with no sand to speak of. Cart paths are disintegrating. They have allowed spoil areas to grow up where there used to grass. In some case the seed fonds of crabgrass rise up in front of tee boxes. I wish the best for them. Its a great layout that only needs a bit of mowing and maintenance.
Thank you for your feedback.
We are so glad you visited the golf course, especially after 10 years! You are correct, we are naturalizing the golf course and returning it to a true links style golf course. As we are waiting for some new seed to germinate, we have to temporarily deal with the issue of some grass that we DON'T want... In addition, we have made the decision to remove cart paths in certain areas, rather than replace them. We prefer to keep our trees than the cart paths... In areas where the path is removed, there will be a natural path. As for the bunkers, we do have a few that still collect water after heavy rains like we experienced in the past week. Please know our team is already working on the drainage... In fact, we pass along all reviews. We communicate course updates / projects / improvements (like these) several times a year via email to our customers. If you would like to receive these updates, simply sign-up via our website.
Thanks again for the feedback. Hope to see you again soon!
Thanks for your feedback! Just a quick note to acknowledge your comments... We apologize for the high grass. It is normally mowed quite well, but unfortunately when you played we had experienced issues with our mower. It's all been caught up, and again, thanks for the feedback.
