Overrated, Overpriced - don't waste your time
I am always blown away to see how much Public Courses charge for green's fee's in SoCal when they barely have grass. I have played this course in peak season form as well as winter. Let's be honest though, Winter in Irvine CA is 67 and sunny yet somehow this course looks like you're in the NorthEast US. From October - February you are guaranteed to have dead yellow grass everywhere. The tee boxes are un-even and destroyed, the fairways are rock hard. They do their best to keep the greens in half way decent shape but am I the only one who thinks it is unfair to charge full price ($130) when the course is operating at barely 50-60% quality? When I played here in the Spring, I think they charge like $180 or something like that which is flat out robbery. The layout is basic, the cart's don't have GPS so without an APP you have no clue what to hit on most holes. I played Trump in PV one week prior and guess what, you pay $200 but every fairway is plush, GREEN, with a view and has a new updated golf cart with GPS. The facilities at Strawberry farm are basically a muni course. Average driving range at best, they charge you $100+ to play but don't give you balls so that is another $10-15 on top. There are not that many options in the OC, I . get it. With that in mind this is the better option of a bunch of really bad, poorly run, o er priced golf courses. For the amount of greens fee's you should get an ocean view and some fun challenging holes - this place is exactly how its described - just a barely green golf course on a farm. Stay away - dont waste your money or time at this place.
Solid track, needs a deal to be worth it
Lots of fun and in decent condition. Standard rate is too high but if you find a deal around 70 bucks its worth it.
Good Round at Strawberry Farms
Went out at 2:00 on a Wednesday. Not too many players out there, so we cruised around in just under 3 hours as a two some. The greens were excellent. Fast and pretty hard, but held most shots into green.
A Really Good Course.
At $75 it is a very good value because the course is always in very good condition, the pace of play is great.
Not for high handicap golfers
Front played easier than the back. I️ would pay 75.00 for this course. Not the asking 150.00 staff was friendly. Didn’t eat or drink here at the 19th hole. Range is mat only. No GPS but they do have usb hook up for your phone on carts. Greens are good. Fairways are good. Sand bunkers are good. I’ll be back so long as I️ get a good deal on GolfNow. I️ would pay 75 for this course. No problem. 150? Not so much.
Excellent Course
Very fun course to play. Conditions were very good and many challenging holes to test your skills. Pace of play was good for a nice weather Thursday. I'll definitely have it on the schedule again when we're in the Irvine, Ca area.
Nice course; got discounted rate at 2:30 p.m. Pace of play was horrible. Took over 5 hours. Ridiculous! No ranger that I ever saw. Too bad as this course is nicer and cheaper than others in the area.
Course was good except that divots were not repaired. Greens rolled well. Wish the Gold t-box was open. Playing off the red was pretty easy. Will try teeing off from the white if I return.
Nice course for the price
Playing as a single, the course had a pretty good layout, fair without any tricked up holes. The staff was helpful and accommodating. The course was in nice shape, greens rolled true. For the price it was a good deal (I played in the PM on twilight rates). Not sure I would pay the going rate for the morning hours. If you can play late, it's a good deal.
This course fits my level...
It was first time to play there, havig a great time to play golf.
I'll ask to my husband come back again.
I wish live closer then come more often...
Strawberry Farm - not worth it
The course is in OK condition. The greens are fine but fairways are ok. The layout is not that great. Few holes are difficult but over all the it's not worth paying $100+ to play. Staff is friendly and club house cafe is good. Practice range is good.
Expected Better
I was very disappointed in the course condition. Being a former teaching pro I know how a well groomed course should look. Paying $130 bucks I thought that would be what I would see. Unfortunately it was in average condition, the bent greens where nice but very beat up from all the play. The guy who attempted to help us unload our bags was less then friendly and accommodating. Paying $130 bucks you would expect to have range balls on the range but oh no they where extra.
The clubhouse was cool and we did stop for a bit afterwards. Of course we wanted the ahi tuna sandwich but they where all out of that. Either their on a tight budget or it's mis managed. Could be both!
Save Your Money Play Elsewhere
Extremely slow, staff doesn't care about pace of play or anything really.., course is too moist, wasting water, range sucks too, old balls, old mats, crazy deal on hitting off grass something like $30 for grass access at back of range. No chipping green. No bunker practice area, small putting green. Putting green rolls true tho! course overall sucks save money and play Lakewood, Los Serranos, Navy...
Very Nice Golf Experience!
The course was in excellent condition. Pace of play was excellent, was able to play 36 holes before 4.00 PM.
Good deal at twilight
I played around 4, and was able to get the whole round in. Not sure I would pay the rack rate of over $100 weekelday and $150 on a weekend for it. No GPS on the carts and several cart paths under repair made it seem less than prestigious for the price it normally costs. Course itself was in great shape, and the restaurant makes excellent food, too. Never saw a beverage cart either, which seems unusual. Still had a good time, just can't give it five stars.
