Cimarron Golf Club - Boulder Course
About
Cimarron's Boulder course is desert in location, but almost links in feel. It's hard to imagine even the most beer-cart-fueled hacker thinking they're in Scotland. Considering the bright sun, the striking San Jacinto Mountains and all. But …
"We've had many golfers tell us it reminds them of the British Open," head pro Jason Janke said. "For what we have in the desert, this is probably the closest course to that."
At 6,782 yards from the back tees, Cimarron challenges with length and accuracy. It's wise to keep your ball in the fairway here or you'll get some up-close desert views. Still with three par 4s over 450 yards and two par 5s over 560 yards, bombing away with your driver is anything but completely ignored.

Cimarron B+, Golf Now C-
Enjoyable golf, teeing off 50 minutes after touchdown at the airport. Disappointed with Golf Now booking. They had two overlapping tee times. I though I paid for one when booking, golf pro shop said no, so I paid there and will hope I didn't double pay. Cimarron staff very helpful.
Be prepared for super tough greens. Like greased lightening!
Overall a great course, but disappointed in on course amenities. Unfortunately we followed a group of about 25 players from out of country, so pace was slow, carts unavailable until 2 minutes before our tee time. Hence, our tee time was delayed. Only porta potties on course. Not sure if this was due to the previous flooding. No halfway house to grab a snack, saw the cart girl only one time the entire day, and that was on the front nine. Would love to play here again under better circumstances, as the course is in beautiful condition!
Best deal for the money I’ve found so far in the Palm Springs area
Good Value
Pace was way too slow so I only played 13 holes and had to go, but I was really enjoying the course. Greens and fairways are in good shape. It's close to the airport and can get pretty windy but I think it's a good value for what I paid. If I get the same deal I will play it again.
Great fun.
Wide open fairways, with slick smooth greens. Super nice staff. I have played both courses loved them both.
Great course
Second time playing here and not the last. With tons of options in this area, this one doesn't disappoint. Course is in great shape on every hole from tee to green. It's wide open but ball placement is still important for approach shots. Greens can be tricky though. Friendly staff and great views from the clubhouse after the round.
Best value
Played a number of courses in the area and Boulder is the best value. Conditions were great. Pace was perfect.
Wide Open Fairways
Though I tend to spray my drives a bit, the Boulder Course has wider than normal fairways and seemed far more forgiving than most. i had the best round I've had in years!
Played this one many times
I have played this course many times. I really like the layout and surrounding areas are fairly well kept, however. My wife, a good player, refuses to play here again due to the portable toilets on the course. We’ll come back but only if that issue is resolved.
Pleasantly Surprised
I played Cimarron 15 years ago, and the experience was so bad I’ve never returned, until today. Boy was I surprised! I played the Boulder course which is the regulation length course at Cimarron. Everything from the expansive grass practice area to the putting green, tee boxes, fairways, greens, and bunkers were in immaculate condition. I play the ball down, and I never had a bad lie. With four tee boxes plus two combos, there is a length for every golfer. For those who, like me, remember the old Cimarron, you need to book a tee time. You too willbe pleasantly surprised.
Too many rules, too little time
Tee'd off at 12:45pm. Waited on every hole for the group ahead. No marshall on course. Saw beverage cart once in 18 holes. The course mgmt seems to care too much about number of teetimes sold, vs quality of golf. For example, imaging being told beginning on the 14th hole, that golf carts must be in by 4:45pm. The GPS is basically turned off for the continuous "4:45" announcements. If you get your cart in at 4:50, the workers ARE UPSET. We had other golfers try to jump us on the course so "THEY" could finish in time. Maybe early morning golf is better?
