Cimarron Golf Club - Boulder Course
About
Cimarron's Boulder course is desert in location, but almost links in feel. It's hard to imagine even the most beer-cart-fueled hacker thinking they're in Scotland. Considering the bright sun, the striking San Jacinto Mountains and all. But …
"We've had many golfers tell us it reminds them of the British Open," head pro Jason Janke said. "For what we have in the desert, this is probably the closest course to that."
At 6,782 yards from the back tees, Cimarron challenges with length and accuracy. It's wise to keep your ball in the fairway here or you'll get some up-close desert views. Still with three par 4s over 450 yards and two par 5s over 560 yards, bombing away with your driver is anything but completely ignored.

Average Golfer
Another enjoyable game at Boulder course golf here every year approx 50% of time 1st time tee off late Game rook approx 4.5 Hrs Wide fairways good for my slice Course condition VG Have several more games booked
Always seem to be booked w/ nice people
Great value
At $94 it is a great value . Fairly forgiving setup from the whites. Excellent fairways greens and tees. Some bunkers lacked sand and had lots of rocks with thin cover. Excellent practice facilities.
Nice Course with a Few Things to Nitpick
Course is wide open with very few trees and wide fairways. Bunkers (and wind when it’s gusty) can make it challenging. Otherwise, it’s fairly straightforward. While overall we enjoyed the round, there were a few negatives to consider:: 1) carts were in limited supply, so you had to wait until your tee time to get one. This meant you had to walk a fairly long way with a few clubs to the warm-up area. We’ve played there twice and both times carts were initially unavailable., 2) no drinking water is provided. There are containers on several holes, but they are empty. If COVID rules preclude the jugs from being filled, they should provide at least one complimentary bottle of water. Needless to say it can get very hot in the desert, even in February., 3) While there are a few port-a-potties on the course, we didn’t come across any bathrooms. Not the best set-up, particularly for ladies who may be reluctant to use them.
Pace of play
Totally disgusted with the pace of play. Five hours and 12 minutes and didn’t finish. We’re told to get off the course. No Marshalls to move people along, starter was useless and getting people off the first Teebox. Call the clubhouse was hung up on the first time, called back and was put on hold for five minutes. Voiced my concerns about pace of play and not finishing said that the marshals went home only to find out they don’t have any marshals cause they won’t pay a person to be at Marshall. I brought some people from Wisconsin there to play bragging about the course,Very disappointed as I’ve played there previously and had a great time I would not go back there again.
Nice place but busy
Course in good shape but need someone managing pace of play no marshal and groups in front joined for 6 players on back slowing it down more
AVOID THIS COURSE!
I will never play it again. It took us 4 and a half hours to play 16 holes and we have to walk off due to darkness. The speed of play on this course is ridiculous, and to make matters worse? A Saturday afternoon and not one marshal on the course to speed slow foursomes along. It was ridiculous what was happening in front of us. Then as we drove off, a 5some! Yes, a 5some 4 groups in front of us.
Don't Play this Course!
I will never play this course again. Then, as we drove off, what do we see? A 5some four groups in front of us. Unless you want to wait on EVERY teebox and spend all day on the course, go somewhere else.
There was no beverage cart on the course which was promised. There needs to be more than port a potty for the ladies. We were 25 minutes behind schedule on the first tee. The party two ahead were very slow and there was no staff to encourage them to move faster. The greens might be advertised the best, but they are extremely difficult.
Canadian Visitor
Green fees in Palm Springs have gone up all over Have a few friends who quit coming to Palm Springs area as rent and miscellaneous outings are beyond their budget I’m an average golfer who enjoys playing Cimarron as course layout / wide fairways suit my game Have booked several games
Always fun outing
I have played here every year for the past 10. Always fun.
Cimarron B+, Golf Now C-
Enjoyable golf, teeing off 50 minutes after touchdown at the airport. Disappointed with Golf Now booking. They had two overlapping tee times. I though I paid for one when booking, golf pro shop said no, so I paid there and will hope I didn't double pay. Cimarron staff very helpful.
