Mission Hills - Gary Player Course

I love the layout of this course and it was always a course that had reasonable value: I payed more than I wanted to this year and was a little disappointed by the course conditions. First of all, I will say the food was great in the clubhouse. We had lunch there and it was excellent. We had a few minutes to kill before we played and went to the practice green to putt. It looked like it had been a few weeks since the holes were changed. In comparison to courses we played in the area for less money, the course was no well kept. Greens were hard and often would not hold even a high shot. We played 7 days in the area and it was the second most expensive course and was in the worst condition of all of them. As much as I love the layout, we will not book this again for such a bad value. I don,t mind paying fair market value for a nice course that is well kept, but that would not include Mission Hills.

When we got off the course we could not enjoy a beer because the club house was closed down and it was only 6:00 very disapointed

The Gary player Course at Mission Hills North is a great layout, especially when the wind is down. Being in the windy corridor, sometimes makes it a challenge, but on a calm day, you get to enjoy the beautifully manicured, clear, friendly layout. The greens roll beautifully. We played in March. Have played this course many times since it opened. Like most things in the desert, it’s become pricey, but still offers good value.

Nice fair layout. Fairways and greens were in pretty good condition. Rough and bunkers were not in very good condition. Wind is always a factor as it’s near the PD windmill farm. Whole course could use a little more attention.

Definitely a great deal and fun to play.

If you look at what is $250/round.. this for $50 was a great deal and worth it.

Right away you can tell this course has so much potential to be great. The layout is amazing. The water features are beautiful and with more upkeep and budget it could be one of the better courses in the area.

That said, the greens run great and are in good shape. They are a little hard and hard to hold approach shots at times. Sand in the bunkers was nice too. Fairways were in good shape and great lies everywhere. There is no rough. It’s hard and patchy grass with dead spots. That’s the only real negative is it’s lacking in the fine details but you’re not paying the price deserving of those things.

Everyone was over the top friendly and we would come back in a heartbeat. It is a great course for a fun time, knocking the rust off on a first round of the trip or year and a great cheap twilight round. We played 18 holes and didn’t start until 3:50pm. Very quick pace of play.

The course was in poor shape. They need to water a lot more. The greens don’t hold a wedge shot and it’s all brown around the greens. The ball rolled pretty true on the greens when putting, that was the only positive thing. The carts are old with flat tire and holes in the seats. It’s a tired track! It’s worth $60 dollars, that’s not even close to what we payed.

Really like this course. The value is pretty good for this time of year. Staff is friendly and the course is well maintained.

I brought a friend to this course, his first visit. It was a bit embarrassing. The carts are old and in bad condition, not clean and no sand in the sand bottles in the cart. These are basic, fundamental golf course management issues that are failing at this course. I have frequented this course over the last few years. I take lessons from Bobbi Salmon and play the course a minimum of once per week. However, the condition of the course is declining quickly and I am concerned. There are too many courses in better condition in the area.

I played in the afternoon with a couple from another state . The starter was very helpful in setting me up with the couple . The weather could not have been better , a cool breeze on a sunny day . We were slowed down a bit but we did get the round in a little after the sun went behind the mountains. Course conditions were very good . The greens were a little fast and most approach shots bounced . Everyone enjoyed the day.
