Mission Hills - Gary Player Course

3 rd tier course charging premium price. I have never felt ripped off like this in my golf life

The first few holes were pretty rough, lots of brown and grey grass, the ponds were quite mucky, greens were not in great shape throughout. The fairways did seem to improve in "green" as we went along and got closer to houses. The rocks around the ponds looked like they had had really salty water up against them for years and nobody ever washed them off. Seems a good power washing of the rocks would make them look a lot better and spruce up trhe course a bit. Again, the first probably 5 holes looked like management just didn't care about them.

Great course to start your experience in Palm Springs. Fairly easy and accommodating for novice golfers, and a good course for experience golfers to start a vacation in Palm Springs.

Course is in great shape, the weather was perfect, we played with a nice couple and had a lot of fun. Paul the starter was friendly and helpful. A great day of golf.

I'm sure this WAS a really good conditioned course but now I don't think it lives up to carry the Gary Player name. The track itself is not bad, but conditions are not prime for the prime $$ being charged. Carts are worn, seats torn, no GPS, greens slow, fairways ok, etc. Unless you get a deal of around $75, skip this one.

The golf carts at this course are the worst I have ever seen.

Not as challenging layout as the Pete Dye Challenge but in better condition this year.

We love the track and some of best staff going, but the course needs some work. Greens are very good and the fairways are fine, but lots of areas need water . It’s one of our favorite courses, but like others in the valley, dynamic pricing has impacted it value as you pay a lot to play a course which needs so much.

One of my favorites in the PS area. Grrat layput. Friendly staff. Very enjoyable!

If you are willing to spend a bit extra, this older course is reminiscent of its namesake! It's like going back to the 70's or 80's and having a round with Gary Player himself. The layout was challenging, but it had one redeeming factor: almost all of the fairways had sides that sloped any errant shots back onto the fairway (not away from the fairway). This certainly helped my drives. But, if you did get stuck in the rough, there was lots of bramble waiting for you. The next interesting feature was that virtually all of the greens were sloped in the same direction (south east), regardless of hole orientation. The greens were small, well guarded, and had interesting (challenging) shapes. This is where I lost most of my shots. Finally, with a very wide range of tee locations, this course lends itself well to players who like lots of distance and challenge, or players who like to keep it short and cute, or everything in between.

Overall, pricey and a bit dated, but a great experience for a wide variety of skill levels.
