Mission Hills - Gary Player Course

The clubhouse is definitely the weakest part of the course. Once overcome, you discover an excellent resort course, not too challenging so it is good to play for players of all level. We found the course in excellent condition from tee to green.

Like many other reviewers' comments, the bunkers were an issue. Understand that desert silt blows in and they get plugged over time - not much the course can do I suppose except change the sand more frequently, but how often is reasonable?

No food on the drinks cart - no, chips and bars are not food - why is it so difficult to put sandwiches of something relatively substantial on a cart?

Layout is good, course condition was great. Green speed and speed are excellent. I want to come back.

Very playable, lots of variety from the gold tees. Course was in excellent condition. Played with another single at 8 am and never saw another golfer.

My wife and I played this course several years ago and liked it enough to play it again. The conditions have deteriorated quite a bit since then. The greens, fairways and tees are nice and green from the over seeding, but the rough is down to dirt in many areas and the traps are in brutal condition. The greens on this course generally small, especially on the front nine. And the fairways are narrow. You need to be very precise or have a great short game to score.

Fairways and greens were in great shape. Rough was dormant which is normal in January. Sand traps needed attention. Overall a great golf course.

Arrived at course early to warm up and was told range closed between 11 & 1 for maintenance. Teed off close to on time and immediately ran into traffic. On every hole waited on every shot. There were sometimes 4 groups on a hole. No marshal, no cart girl. Over 5 hour 40 minute round. Ridiculous. Never going back!

Mountain vistas were great and the playing surfaces were great except for the bunkers which were mostly hardpan. Greens were a tad slow but rolled true. Fairways and tee boxes were in excellent condition.

The grounds outside of the playing surfaces did not look pretty including all water hazards and other decorative vegetation. Could have been residual from a bad storm a few months back but it looked more like neglect or transitionary conditions…

I’d love to have played it when it first opened and will try it again sometime when hopefully they’ve had time to work on the cosmetics.
