Lely Resort Golf & Country Club - Flamingo Island Course

Course is fun to play as long as you play the correct tees. If you play the championship tees or the blue tees and they are beyond your abilities, you are not going to have any fun. A number of challenging and
very interesting holes. This course is not your ordinary layout.

Options are limited for public courses in napales. I had a hard time judging value as a result. At $100 I'd be curious to compare against some of the other options in the price range. I certainly wouldn't avoid this course, but the next time I'm down here I'll likely look for another option. Either way, the course was average in my mind, but the people were extremely nice.

Nice course, many long carries over or along water to well protected greens. The greens had a lot of fertilizer and did not break as much as one would expect. This course gets tons of play, so plan on at least 4:15 for the round.

Poor conditions, get a better greens keeper and get off your wallet for better conditions. Better courses for the Money!

Every time I have played here the course has been in great shape. The generous use of the practice facility has always been a plus for me.

Arrived at course half hour early. People milling all over place - looked like corporate day half hour before shotgun start. On trying to sign in, frazzled pro told us tee time heavily delayed as they had run out of carts. He had no idea when we could go, and agreed that 18 holes impossible before dark. We cancelled and left through parking lot where dozens of upset patrons were ambushing or negotiating with players to get their hands on their golf carts. Almost forgot - the reason given for the problem was "the holidays have started"! For sure. Won't be back.

Compared to the guest fees at some of the private courses, Lely is a good value

Played both courses. Flamingo a little more challenging than Mustang. Both courses were in good condition. My only complaint would be NO yardage markers anywhere. Too good of a course not to have sprinkler heads marked with yardages. Very good dining facilities and nice range .

Played two rounds on the beautifully conditioned Flamingo course. Greens were nearly perfect. Played from the green tees at 6500 yards and it was a very good challenge. Requires a well placed drive to avoid hazards which frequently guarded both sides of the fairway anywhere from 230 to 260 yards out. Playing early ensured an excellent pace. Will be back.

Paid a high price for what could and should have been a quality round. The pace of play was poor, and there was no visible marshaling. Lely can do better.

The conditioning of the course was excellent, particularly the greens which were in superb condition, particularly given the number of rounds played here. The pace of play was glacial however and that really detracted from the experience for me.

Played the Flamingo course while on vacation in Marco Island. Ended up playing the back tees. I am a 2 handicap and found the course to be very challenging, but fair. Greens were excellent! Extremely smooth and probably around 11 on the Stimp. Not a super high end course with perfect conditions (like Tiburon for example), but not super expensive either. Thought it was appropriately priced and felt it was a good value. Also liked that I was able to get on fairly easily. Would definitely play there again.

The course was less attractive than expected. The conditions were very well. The front nine holes were played in less than 2 hours, the back nine took more than 3 hours...no ranger on the course to speed up play.
Greens nice to play, pretty fast.

We played the whites, which made the par 3s a little short and too easy, but the rest of the course was plenty challenging.
Greens had been top dressed but were smooth.
Overall a real nice layout and 2 very good finishing holes.
#17 probably the best hole on the course; demanding tee shot to a well bunkered fairway. 2nd shot to a green guarded by water.
Fun course!

The Lely courses get a lot of play but are maintained well for the traffic they get. Course is open, no rough to speak of, but challenging bunkers protect the greens. The greens were also challenging and seemed like they were recently sanded. Other courses in the area were undergoing their seasonal overseeding so i suspect this course was preparing for that. Play was a little slow but we played in the afternoon, which to some extent can be expected. The Lely courses (Flamingo and Mustang) offer a great value and we found you could always get a tee time there. Challenging enough but not difficult. We would return to play these courses again.

Liked indicated pin placements on carts. Tee off areas well maintained. Great practice areas.

Good driving range. The course was quite interesting and the greens were slick. Stay out of the water though...quite a few alligators were lurking!

Nice layout, great practice facilities. Needs a ranger, our back 9 holes took 2.75 hours.

Beautiful course. Outstanding greens. There are a lotvof great courses in SW Florida and this is one of the must play courses. The staff is very friendly.
