Great shape!
Despite many of the area courses remaining closed due to the recent hurricane, the Jones was open and in terrific shape. Cart path only on three or four holes, but traps were dry, as were most fairways. Greens were great and rolled very true. The work that the staff has put in post-storm is evident.
Golg
The course was in great condition considering the amount of rain. I managed to lock myself in the restroom and after shouting for several mins a lady from the bar came and just pulled open the door as if I was stupid. She had no concern for my wegsre
Good Round
Anytime you can get a $60 round here, it’s well worth it. Friendly clubhouse, attentive bag drop, active grounds crew. Cart had GPS, that’s always a plus. Course stays in great shape year round. My only knock is I didn’t see a beverage cart during the round and the halfway house at the turn was closed (3pm). Will be back.
Outstanding Course with Swampy Conditions
I arrived and at check-in was told the whole course was cart path only on this date. I received a cart, loaded my clubs, and proceeded to the first hole. At first glance the course was pristine looking, and I was very much looking forward to a wonderful day. After teeing off and walking out to my ball, I soon discovered why it was cart path only. The fairways were soft and holding so much water the ball would embed, becoming ridiculously muddy. A towel was needed to be carried plus a few different club options after every tee shot. When taking divots the mud would totally cover the clubhead. The soggy fairway conditions would cause some undesired outcomes when compressing the ball. Some of the bunkers had standing water in their low areas. After the third hole my shoes were soaking wet after walking back and forth through the fairways. The cart paths out on the course had standing water in many areas. I don't know if this is a norm for this course or not, but I was not impressed with the conditions of the fairways and some bunkers (due to water). This could have just been an anomaly caused by the rain from recent hurricane. Beyond this, I had a great day. The course layout is outstanding and challenging, the landscaping is well-maintained, and the greens were in very good condition. I look to maybe play this course another time when the rainy season passes.
Hot Deal Highly Recommend
I recently had the pleasure of playing the Jones Course at LPGA International, and it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. The check-in process was a breeze, and the staff was friendly and accommodating. I immediately felt welcomed, and the laid-back atmosphere put me at ease, making the whole experience even more enjoyable.
Despite the heavy rains from the hurricane the previous week, the course was incredibly well-maintained. The grounds crew did an excellent job ensuring the course played beautifully even though it was super saturated. The greens were in great condition, and the fairways were still in great shape.
I would highly recommend the Jones Course to anyone looking for a top-notch golfing experience in the Daytona area. It’s a challenging yet enjoyable course, perfect for golfers of all levels. I will definitely play here again next time I’m in town!
Horrible experience
I will begin with the positive… greens were good and rolled about an 8- 8.5 on stemp.
Now for the bad… everything else. The course was a complete swamp so every shot was like hitting a ball standing on a trampoline. There was a beginner 4ball goofing off on the first tee box before us with no starter so we began 10min late waiting on these knuckleheads. They were bad and all over the place and didn’t understand ready golf. By the 6th hole our cart told us we were 30min behind pace and kept reminding us over and over. I messaged players assistance 3 times before getting a ranger to wake from his nap. On hole 8 he finally shows up and I asked if he could talk to
The 4some. This idiot tells me they are on pace and there are groups ahead of them. By now there are several groups backed up behind us as well. At the turn we were finally able to jump ahead of these guys. When we got to the 10th green the ranger was there to tell us we were 45min behind pack with 2 open holes ahead of us and we were holding everyone up. I let him know I was the one he spoke with on hole 8 and we just jumped ahead of the problem group. He said oh yeah I remember you. In which case I simply asked why he lied to us back on 8 saying the group wasn’t the issue then thinking we were them confronted us. What a jerk!!! Also don’t order food at the turn. My buddy got a sandwich and we watched the woman handle both the bread and the toppings bare handed then chose to put on gloves to touch the meat… I’m too late now sweetheart. As free contaminating everything else! To sum things up the course isn’t what the name dictates. It’s a dump with horrible management plain and simple.
Dry out
Course has had major rain the last several weeks
Bunkers are washed out though some are being re-done
Fairways partially cut due to saturation
Rough is rough
Wait 2 weeks if we get no more rain so it can get help and dry out
Fantastic features, slow players
Everything about the course and the amenities was good. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. One thing is needed, the Marshall should speed up slow players. I played in a threesome of very good golfers behind a foursome of older men who were extremely slow. We kept getting warnings of 8 to 10 minutes behind play on the golf cart, computer, but were helpless due to the foursome in front of us. We were not waved through by the foursome, nor did the Marshall appear to warn them of slow play or recommend we be allowed to play through. I was advised there was another group ahead of the foursome who obviously was playing slow also. The delay warnings in the cart are there for a reason, but they serve no purpose unless the players and the Marshall use them effectively.
Unplayable
The course is under water and really not playable. Especially the back 9. There should have been some notice it’s in that bad of shape. They should close until it drys out.
Course is in good condition
Not much interaction from the staff but couse amenities were great and the course was in great condition
