Tucked away in the beautiful Ft. Caroline area near Jacksonville, Hidden Hills Golf Club stands on a historic battleground that witnessed the fierce struggles between France and Spain and continued into golf history with searing competition during the heyday of the Greater Jacksonville Open.
The 6,892-yard public golf course, built in 1966 on an ancient sand dune, was redesigned by Arnold Palmer in 1986. Palmer's creativity helped create a championship-caliber golf course unmatched in natural beauty that makes excellent use of rare hilly terrain to create a unique Florida golf challenge. The fairways are lined with majestic pines and stately oaks, and the unpredictable greens have helped Hidden Hills gain the reputation of being one of the most challenging courses in North Florida.
Sharp doglegs, strategic placement of water hazards and putting surfaces that are mostly elevated serve up a mighty test for the low handicapper. Approaches are narrow and many of Hidden Hills Golf Club's greens are well bunkered.
Hidden Hills has a rating of 74.0 from the championship tees, and the slope rating is 136.

The club is renovating the 5th green. That green was not in bad condition so we wonder why it is being replaced. Will ask. They made the par 5 6th hole into two par 3 holes. So 3 par 3s in a row.
We would suggest that the 6th hole has room for the short par 3 and a short par 4 if the tee box is placed either far right or far left on the 6th hole. The lake ahead of the green could be made to force a layup shot short of the water. If required, put a sign on the temporarily tee box banning a long drive attempt directly to the 6th green.
Great Value-Well Kempt
Off the beaten path Hidden Hills is a great value. A public course bordering a country club neighborhood, it is a great value. I don't mean cheap. I mean you get just slightly better conditions than one would expect for the price.
Some challenging holes, some bombable fairways and great changes of elevation for a Florida course. Great pace!

Short but challenging
Is a short course with a lot of fun holes, the fairway were a bit rough and some of thee greens too. I enjoy playing the course even though was a bad day of ply for my self. Not going back just because of the distance from where I live.

Always brutal
Have played this place many times and it’s one of my favorite layouts due to its uniqueness; however, always the slowest round to ever be recorded. It’s a new record every time for slowest round. Seemingly always 3 groups waiting at the first tee box. I always tell myself after a round there I will never play it again but then I go back a month or two later and it never changes
The course itself is subpar some greens weren’t bad but some were almost lost. Wish someone would turn it around because it is the most fun and unique layout in jax.
Greens need work
The layout of the course is great. The greens are a little bumpy than usual and a number of fairways need some grass. I do recommend that you play this course as it is a tough test of golf but rather enjoyable.

Getting better
Greens are filling in nicely, still a bit bumpy in places. Some bare spots on the course. Conditions should be ideal in a month. Challenging but fair layout. On my rotation of courses to play.

Solid track
The course is in good condition. Greens are a little bumpy due to some weeds and being recently punched. Overall not bad at all. Previous reviews mentioned bare Fairways but they seemed to be in good condition to me.

Disappointed
I've played Hidden Hills numerous times. Usually completely satisfied. This time I was thoroughly disappointed. For the shape the course definitely didn't warrant a $75 green fee. The greens had been recently punched which I really don't have an issue with. I was disappointed with the quality of the fairways. I shouldn't have to hit off dirt patches that are not divots in the fairway. C'mon do better HH. I brought people there from out of town.

Greens are a lost cause
The state of the greens are horrible! The entire turf management is a lost cause! They don’t water, fairways are a hodgepodge of invasive grasses. The residents of the community have unlimited access to water their lawns and the golf course is under restrictions.

Be prepared for unnecessary wait times
Paid $70 to play here, which for the cost compared to other locations gets you a very good course typically.
Course shop attendant was miserable but wasn’t too concerned with that. Got to our tee time and it was 10 minutes late. There were groups of 4 playing within 3 minutes of each other. Come to learn the owner felt like adding two additional rush groups in every time. Thanks owner. Took us 40 minutes to get through first two holes.
Lots of groups playing early, restaurant didn’t open until 11 and cart attendant was seen sparingly (understandably busy)
Course was in ok condition, but for the cost it was outrageous.

Getting better
Greens were punched several weeks ago but seem to be slow coming back. Compared to another course up the street, this course is a much better course and better deal. Will continue to play here as it appears they are actively working n their issues.

Course is in pretty good shape, but greens could have been sanded a little better.

Inexpensive but in rough shape
Including a cart the price was very good. But very little grass in fairways, none in rough and greens were airated previous week so could not put a line.

I’ve played municipal courses in better shape!!!
Sand traps were not sand traps, they are fill dirt traps!!
Fairway had not been mowed!!
Greens weren’t bad except for having been punched but with no notification that they had been!!
We boxes looked and felt like they had let dogs dig em up!!
Course was not worth $70 at all!!
Pro shop hot dog was cold and tasted like it was a day old and cost $5
Would not recommend!!
