Tucked away in the beautiful Ft. Caroline area near Jacksonville, Hidden Hills Country Club stands on a historic battleground that witnessed the fierce struggles between France and Spain and continued into golf history with searing competition during the heyday of the Greater Jacksonville Open.
The 6,892-yard private golf course, built in 1966 on an ancient sand dune, was redesigned by Arnold Palmer in 1986. Palmer's creativity helped create a championship-caliber golf course unmatched in natural beauty that makes excellent use of rare hilly terrain to create a unique Florida golf challenge. The fairways are lined with majestic pines and stately oaks, and the unpredictable greens have helped Hidden Hills gain the reputation of being one of the most challenging courses in North Florida.
Sharp doglegs, strategic placement of water hazards and putting surfaces that are mostly elevated serve up a mighty test for the low handicapper. Approaches are narrow and many of Hidden Hills Country Club's greens are well bunkered.
Hidden Hills has a rating of 74.0 from the championship tees, and the slope rating is 136.

Perfect Weather on a Late Summer Day
Had not played this course for 35 years, but the green fee was discounted. Lots of elevation for a Florida course, amenities were good, but course was not in the greatest shape as I remember especially with the ample amount of rain recently.
May try it again later.
Vintage course
Nice older course, nice layout, challenges abound! As with any course with age, greens really require a lot of attention and TLC. Greens had some spots that have been repaired, you can guess maybe required hot spotting this summer or aeration. Sanding and watering would go a long way in bringing the greens back. The course was fun to play. You can see where the course is getting care.
Improved conditions
I was well pleased with the conditions of the course after playing it last month. The greens were much more consistent. Fairways were still full of bare spots.

Greens are much better than last time I played but still have a way to go.
Overpriced for Poor Conditions
Gave the course another chance since two months ago but very minimal improvements. Seriously why would anyone waste the high prices for a course in such awful condition? Fairways, Greens, and Tees are all in bad shape. I really wish the course would stop entering fake 5 star ratings on the reviews so the real rating will show. Don’t waste your hard earned $’s.
Great course but greens were extremely slow
I really liked this course but the greens are in poor condition. It appears that they are working on them but they were bumpy and overgrown. Some of the sand traps were flooded and in need of repair. Other than that I loved the layout and amenities.
Course is still in bad condition
Greens were terribly . Obviously still cleaning up after the storm.
Better condition
The fairway was getting better. There are actually some grass's this time compare to last time. But the greens was just being aerated and we weren’t made aware of it.
Getting Better
Fairways still need some work. Greens punched recently but appear to be coming back. Tee boxes better than last time I played. Good value if you can get the hot deal.
Making progress
The fairways and tee boxes are in better shape since the rains, and actually decent. The greens have been punched and sanded and are not worth putting on at the moment. They will improve.
