Rating 74.0

Tucked away in the beautiful Ft. Caroline area near Jacksonville, Hidden Hills Country Club stands on a historic battleground that witnessed the fierce struggles between France and Spain and continued into golf history with searing competition during the heyday of the Greater Jacksonville Open.

The 6,892-yard private golf course, built in 1966 on an ancient sand dune, was redesigned by Arnold Palmer in 1986. Palmer's creativity helped create a championship-caliber golf course unmatched in natural beauty that makes excellent use of rare hilly terrain to create a unique Florida golf challenge. The fairways are lined with majestic pines and stately oaks, and the unpredictable greens have helped Hidden Hills gain the reputation of being one of the most challenging courses in North Florida.

Sharp doglegs, strategic placement of water hazards and putting surfaces that are mostly elevated serve up a mighty test for the low handicapper. Approaches are narrow and many of Hidden Hills Country Club's greens are well bunkered.

Hidden Hills has a rating of 74.0 from the championship tees, and the slope rating is 136.

The greens were in terrible condition.temp green on the 6th. Fairways and tee boxes thin. Won't play there again for awhile.

Wish I had read the reviews before I booked it. The layout is challenging but the conditions are awful. Only played 6 holes and saw the 7th. 1 green was temporary, 2 others had sand all over them because the grass was so beat up. The ones that did have grass on them were chewed up around the hole indicating they hadn't moved the holes in a while and they sure as heck didn't roll any of them. The fairway/rough transition was minimal so you didn't know which you were in. Overall, a pretty pathetic display for any golf course. They need to shut it down for 6 months and rehab it.

Green went from bad to worst!

It's official! Hidden Hills GC greens are now the top 3 worst GC in Jax area. Bluesky and South Hampton are neck to neck as if they try to compete who's got the worst green conditions.

Every single employees at HHGC ranted about their worst of the worst superintendent. The rangers were crying how much it kills them to see the superintendent destroyed the greens this year. By the way, he is pretty unfriendly guy if you meet him in person too. The ranger told me to just hit my shots and don't bother putting. That sums it all up, right?

Hidden Hills is rough

Unfortunately I and my buddy played the course this past Saturday and am sad to report the previous reviews were correct. Tee boxes were a little mangled, fairways were decent to good in most cases but the greens looked like a sandstorm had hit them along with the rivers in almost all of them. It was tough to get any putts to roll without bouncing and jumping off your line. It was upsetting whenever we got to some of the greens that were in good shape because we had been putting through sand that we blew by the hole on the better greens. Also hole 6 has a temporary green that’s about 15ft wide. Overall a very tough day. I will commend the cart girl who made do with her impromptu bar cart. We were fortunate to have just been a twosome and our pace of play wasn’t ever really affected and even started playing two balls a hole with no one behind us. Love the layout of the course but unfortunately wouldn’t recommend it for a while until it gets back to what I have known it to be

Stay Away

I’ve played this course on and off for years. First time back in a while and the course was in horrendous shape. I’ve played poorly maintained golf courses before but the price usually reflects that, understandably. However HH, despite the high price, is clearly not investing into their course. 75% or the greens were all sand. Not a few sand patches. All sand. One hole had a “temporary green” which was just a hole in the middle of the fairway. No way to put, score or even attempt to play the hole. There is a fundamental lack of care which is not reflected in the price. I nearly stopped play after 9 to ask for a refund. I will not return to this course.

Horrible

Horrible conditions for the amount of green fees. Greens covered in sand. Fairways were like hitting out of the first cut. Crammed as many people on the course as possible. Made a green in the middle of the fairway because one was under maintenance. Not worth it. Stay home and watch Golf. You will get a better deal.

Horrible Condition/Fast Round

I don’t know if I’ve ever seen the course look THIS bad and still charge $50 for a “discounted” round.

Maybe 2/18 tee boxes actually had level ground without sand and 2/18 greens at least looked good, but were shag carpets. The rough and fairway grass was essentially the same if you managed to find any grass from all the lack of it throughout the course. Bunkers are essentially just mud pits or sand packed harder than concrete. Played solo in under 3 hours which was the only great aspect to the round today and the staff were very friendly. I doubt I’ll be back unless the price is sub $30 until a lot is fixed. IMO just close the course for a year and get it back to what it once was.

Poor condition

The Tee box and fairways were in decent condition due to the lack of rain. But, the greens were horrendous. I won't be back for a long time.
