Hidden Hills Golf Course
About
Tucked away in the beautiful Ft. Caroline area near Jacksonville, Hidden Hills Country Club stands on a historic battleground that witnessed the fierce struggles between France and Spain and continued into golf history with searing competition during the heyday of the Greater Jacksonville Open.
The 6,892-yard private golf course, built in 1966 on an ancient sand dune, was redesigned by Arnold Palmer in 1986. Palmer's creativity helped create a championship-caliber golf course unmatched in natural beauty that makes excellent use of rare hilly terrain to create a unique Florida golf challenge. The fairways are lined with majestic pines and stately oaks, and the unpredictable greens have helped Hidden Hills gain the reputation of being one of the most challenging courses in North Florida.
Sharp doglegs, strategic placement of water hazards and putting surfaces that are mostly elevated serve up a mighty test for the low handicapper. Approaches are narrow and many of Hidden Hills Country Club's greens are well bunkered.
Hidden Hills has a rating of 74.0 from the championship tees, and the slope rating is 136.

Course decline
Played this course multiple times in the past and it was a premier track. I was back to Jacksonville for a visit after 5 years away and gave it a try. What a disappointment, the pro and superintendent should be ashamed of the condition the course is in. And they are still charging premium rate.
Great potential
While my experience was not the greatest, this golf course has a lot of potential of being a great place to golf. Unfortunately for this round, I would not recommend it. The place was overrun with new golfers with very little etiquette and no starter or Marshall to maintain the pace of play. Additionally, there was no beverage cart to be seen the entire round. The course itself seems to be under some repair which is promising but for the price, the greens are horrendous. A very disappointing experience to say the least.
Things are coming along
Played here quite a few times and I love the layout. It’s a tough course that’s fun to play. Some tee boxes, fairways and greens are still in pretty rough shape, but they’re making an effort to fix them. All in all for the price I paid it was worth it on a day off.
Dont.plat this course
Dint play here. The greens are diseased and they should have warned us before we started. Pace of play was ridiculous also.to the point where it was a joke. I am kicking my self.because I travel to JAX about 4 times.a.year .and played this course before but I had forgot to mark in my notes not to play because of the bad experiences. I've played this course before but I prepaid with Golfnow before I realized that I had played already with bad experiences. This course sucks. Don't waste your money.
Not worth it
Nice layout. After that it’s all garbage - conditions and the greens. Went out first and had to wait a bunch because the grass cutters were late and slow. I’d rather pay more for a nicer course.
2 putt rule
The course is settled in a nice neighborhood with plenty of challenging holes. Out of 18 greens only 3 or 4 are in good enough condition to be playable as the other greens are rough and the ball will not roll straight. Thus the 2 putt rule.
Note there is a lot of course work being performed attempting to clean up this course. Fingers crossed
Still in decline
It appears they are trying to address some of their issues. They are resodding/seeding some of the tee boxes. Greens are starting to come in. Fairways are very sparse as well as the rough. You have to move your ball to try to find suitable grass to hit from. Will wait to the end of summer before I play again to see if it gets better.
Going down hill
Course is lacking grass and this is coming into prime season. It's almost as if they are not watering. It's sad, great layout and great clubhouse. Maybe pay 20 to play.
Would not recommend
I booked tee time and checked in on golf now. I went inside to get range balls and confirmed tee time with the pro shop. It would have been nice for the pro to let me know I was following a group of junior golfers playing a tournament. I asked to tee off on hole 10 but was denied. Eventually, skipped ahead of the junior golfers then got behind a very slow threesome. Stopped play after 9 holes. The fairways and greens were also in rough shape.
Terrible from start to finish
The starter was a jerk. We were putting at the practice green 7 minutes before our tee time. About to pack up and head to the first tee, which is about 100 feet from the practice green. Got real mouthy and smart with us about being late.
Conditions are atrocious. AWFUL fairways, even worse greens.
Do not waste your time or money.
