About
TPC Tampa Bay can be as challenging as the golfer wants it to be. But be prepared to pay the price for taking the risks. Located just a 20-minute ride from the Tampa International Airport in Lutz, TPC Tampa Bay is open to the public seven days a week. A Bobby Weed design, TPC Tampa Bay is part of a network of courses owned and operated by PGA Tour Golf Course Properties. The fairways have subtle movement and weave through lakes and natural wetlands - 19 in all - and around strategic bunkers that number 81. The greens are large (averaging 6,400 square feet) and undulating, and most are open in the front, offering golfers the option of hitting run-up approach shots. There's a clubhouse and a fully stocked golf shop offering a complete line of equipment and apparel from the top names in golf to complement the course.

Cart path only, wet condition does not make for fun playing TPC.

Good but expected great
TPC Tampa carries a name that speaks of challenge and excellence. The challenge is on all holes, with plenty of water, sand, contours and angled layout. You can't just grip it and rip it. The excellence was brought down a bit because the greens were recently sanded. I only wish they would tell you that when you book a tee time! If you're new to the game, this is probably not your course..yet. But if you think you have the skills, then give this one a try!

Not worth the price to play.
Course conditions were terrible. Clumps of grass clippings everywhere and on fairway, piles of sand left on greens and greens were damaged. Locals walk their dogs on cart path and dog excrement were on cart path and in rough by the cart path. Felt like a total rip off for price that I paid. Staff was nice but course conditions were a joke. Can’t judge pace or play I was second person out on the day.

They’ve Dropped
This place used to be premium. No longer, they must have been falling on hard times. Fairways and greens boxes all in very average to below average conditions considering you’re spending $90-$100 to play this. Pretty disappointing. Today was cartpath only which I understand due to rain. But dead grass dried out greens. Not the TPC I’m used to.

High Standards Upheld While Dealing With Difficult Weather Conditions
With the recent hurricane passing close to the area, “cart path only” and “lift, clean, and place” rules were necessary (and expected) on this day; however, in keeping up with the high standards that the PGA tour expects from their properties, the maintenance staff did a fabulous job with ensuring that the course was playable from the tee through the green. The greens drained well and rolled beautifully. The Pro Shop staff was friendly and ready to assist with any questions that I had. There is always a friendly, informative greeting from the starter. The beverage cart driver made frequent visits and always had a smile to accompany her efficiency. The experience wrapped up with a drink & an appetizer at Cuatro! Bar, which was served in the same manner as the service from the beverage cart.
I’ve played TPC Tampa Bay during many of my visits to the area. After witnessing all of the hard work being performed by the staffing so that the high standards can be maintained, TPC Tampa Bay has become a “must play” for me whenever I’m in town. Thanks so much to all involved. See you soon!

Not Good!
I say not good because of price. It’s a great layout and staff was great but not a chance this is over $100 in summer. You’re honestly better off at Saddlebrook or Lake Jovita. I hate saying this but it’s embarrassing it has the TPC name on it.

Over rated
I can see paying 40 dollars but no more for this course. You are paying for the name tpc. Very unimpressed with the conditions of the course.

Doesn't deserve TPC name
I have played and been on TPC courses before. This week I am watching the Traveler's at a TPC in the NE, and it is immaculate. TPC Tampa was like I was playing a municipal course. Nothing online about having "punched" the greens in the last 10 days, but the greens should have been in better shape than they were. They obviously had not been top-dressed and rolled properly to assist with recovery, but they had also obviously not been mowed in the last 3 days. I played with a member who admitted that the course in general was in awful shape, and the greens especially. I cannot imagine that ANY tour would play a tournament at this course. Do NOT waste your money playing here. I suspect they will lose the TPC brand sooner rather than later, as surely someone from corporate will come and visit. Awful conditions, awful greens, waste of my time and money.

Thank you for the review Lutzdocoffee and we apologize we didn't meet your expectations. TPC River Highlands was primed for a PGA TOUR event and TPC Tampa Bay is coming out of it's normal summer maintenance routine, so not comparing apples to apples. Your conditions are improving and expect solid conditions as we move through summer. We hope you give us another opportunity during our prime season - February or March.
Qualiy
Not TPC quality, fairway grass thin ( bald spots), aprons under groomed, although greens were aiireated super slow not what you would expect from a TPC advertised golf course really disappointing!

Greens In Terrible Shape
On several occasions, I had to move my ball on the green completely in order to avoid hitting through a sandy trench…ON THE GREEN! The speed of the greens were also inconsistent, but mostly very slow.
I get it…there are some months that the greens are being worked on and are undergoing maintenance. Adjust your pricing! When someone comes to play for the first time, and pays full price, you don’t get to have a caveat. Not worth half the price today.

First time here
Loved playing this course with family. Very friendly staff to help with bags and carts right from the start. Course was in good shape dry in some areas but a growing drought is occurring currently. Greens have been recovering and have been patched. Golf snobs will be particular about the greens but it did not disappoint my experience.

1st timer
Fun mix of holes. Smallish bermuda greens. Greens were a little on the slow side because of lack of rain. No fault of the course. Overall conditions were very good.
You can still score playing to the safe side on most holes. Short-side yourself and you won't be happy.
Great pro shop, clubhouse and driving range. Staff was also very pleasant and engaging.
