Good front nine, back nine not so much
Played last week as we were staying right next door. The front was good, nice mix of holes. The par 5's were nice except for the 9th hole. Conditions of fairways were excellent and greens were good as well. Back nine was not good. There were tons of blind shots, with not good landing areas. One tee shot was down hill, completely blind to fairway and couldn't hit a driver and had nothing indicating how far until fairway ran out. Over half of back side was cart path only. Given the hilly nature and blind shots, was not fun.
GPS was extra and I couldn't get it to work. Would rather just pay an extra $5 in green fees and have the GPS available. Would have made round more enjoyable given all the blind shots.
Decent track, not worth the rate
One of the biggest perks of this course is its location and proximity to the main strip in Pigeon Forge. You also have some good views of Pigeon Forge, the Smokey Mountains, and even the tops of some roller coasters at Dolly Wood.
The course was in pretty good condition given the amount of rain the course had received.
There were a few tee boxes that had no grass, and when I say no grass, I mean not a blade of grass--not ideal.
To play this course, you have to be part billy goat. About the only time you have a decent lie is when the ball is teed up. I understand it's a course in the mountains, but some holes don't even have a landing area. Some of the hole designs don't make much sense either.
Overall, it's a bad course and it has some fun holes (especially the par 3s) but I'm not sure it's a $50/round course, especially given some of the courses that are close by.
Gatlinburg Golf Course
Up charge for GPS cart and additional tv features. Decent course, fun layout with evaluation changes. Lot of blind shots and if not playing with some one familiar with the course hard to judge distance and pin placement as well as course design. Fairly open and forgiving if not in the fairway. Tight green areas on most of course. No warnings about greens being conditioned and very bumpy.
Beautiful scenery and challenging holes
This course has awesome mountain views and unique holes not found on most courses. Due to recent heavy rains the course was cart path only today and the recently aerated greens were bumpy.yet It was still very enjoyable to play.
Good value
Different from the lake plain courses that I am used to. Mountain terrain makes for a interesting game. A fun layout.
Great course in the smokies!
It was wet wet wet and it rained the whole round, but this course is fun and the staff is great. It is golfer friendly and not stuck up. Wife is a beginner and felt very comfortable.
Will play again every time in Gatlinburg TN.
Wet
I know they can’t control the weather but this was a swamp!! Some of the holes should have been just shut down until it dries out!! Pretty disappointed because I have been looking forward to playing this track!! Don’t think I will come back
Good golf
Greens in excellent condition given the time of year. Loved the layout. Only detourant, area has experienced very heavy rain recently.
Staff was very friendly and helpful.
Would love to play this course in the summer months.
Great course, bad time of year
For the excessive amount of rain we have had the course is in great shape. The greens were still showing signs of being micro-punched recently, but this effected the roll minimally. Back nine is far more impacted by the rain so enjoy the front.
Enjoyable course
Always love playing this course ..Elevation changes present lots .of
challenges.
The course was very wet due to heavy recent rains cartpath only....was very tiring for some of our senior golfers...
Greens were in great shape rolled very true .
Will definetly return...
With all the rain we’ ve had lately this course was in great shape ! Greens rolled great . Course was kinda dead but pace of play was good & pro shop guy was friendly as always. Beautiful even with winter views!!
The best of the best
as far as course layout, this is the best of the best. We come down in March, and it is fairly cool, in the 60's, but nice for us as Indiana is in the 30's and 40's that time of year. Only drawback is not being able to take your cart to the ball, but its well worth the walking, as this is the best of all the course we shoot down there in our rotation every March. I do not know why someones review was not positive, other than this course kicked their butt and they had a bad round, as I look forward to golfing this course each year, and I cant wait to do it again.
Excellent condition for time of year.
Course was in excellent condition for the time of year. Only minor problem with the fairways was due to people not following the cart path only rule. Clubhouse and golf shop was very nice. Staff was very helpful. Overall great layout and experience. If you go during the rainy winter months don’t let the wet appearance of the greens fool you. They are very fast due to the manicuring from the staff.
Underwhelming
I was a little disappointed with the golf course. The front nine was very ordinary with very little a golfer couldn't find on any course in the U.S. I am surprised anyone is willing to pay $55 to play this course after the Bermuda has gone dormant. The back nine was very fun to play with narrow fairways, many elevation changes, including the amazing par 3. In my opinion this still didn't make up for the lackluster front.
Great day of golf
The course was in great shape, the staff was very friendly, and accommodating. Challenging in a beautiful setting. Can not wait to play this course again.
A great course that is always in great condition...a must play if you’re in the area!
Pace of play was at 5 hours 15 minutes because of cart path only in effect.
Week end warrior
Played this coaster several times. Coarse is always in great shape and very challenging. Greens putted great they would hold and you can play pitch and run Has plenty of water and sand trap hazards. Par 3 were challenging. And had som
Disappointed
We’ve played here before and we were excited about returning to play as we’ve always enjoyed the course. But - The greens were in terrible shape. Pace started out okay, but it soon became clear there were some people playing that held up the course. We spent twice as long in the back 9 as the front because a few groups got slower and slower. This course is hilly and difficult, so really there should be a set of tees moved up for people that are rookies to speed up pace of play and inform them to “play up”. They seemed short-handed and no beverage cart for a Sunday. Very few opportunities to fill our water bottles and it was hot. The carts are fancy and There is an extra charge to use GPS in the cart (we have our own so didn’t use it), but the cart stops and slows down on steep hills, etc based on where you are on the course. I wish this fancey GPS had told the slow people in front us “pick up your ball and move on” and “stop looking for balls you will never find”. I think the money spent on these carts may have been better spent to get the greens in shape, have a Marshall to speed up play, and run a beverage cart. The person working there was doing the best they could and was friendly. The $49 per person was WAY too much for the condition the course was in and it was not fun. Sad because we really have enjoyed playing this course in the past. It’s doubtful we’ll return.
