Unless you want to walk ALOT skip this course
The first thing to happen was we were over charged from the rate on golf now so please check your receipt. They did correct that however. It was a pretty course but we were told as we were teeing off that it was cart path only. I asked if they made exceptions since my father was with us. He is older, loves to golf but doesn’t get around as well as he used to. They explained no exceptions and cart will shut down if too far from path because it was too muddy. We started play and it was completely dry and 84 degrees. Not sure if no one checked or if this is just standard answer they tell. Needless to say it is a mountain course with a lot of walking up and down hills to get to your ball even when you hit the middle of the fairway. It significantly slows play.
April is defenitly too early in the season to play this course. Course condition werde very poor. I doubt this course can even be fun when conditions improved.
Great views
Nice layout but the fairways were still dormant and a little wet but the greens were in great shape. I shot 87 not bad for a 61 year man opening day
Nice View
I have played this course a few times with my family when we vacation in Gatlinburg. We always have to play it when we visit. It has a nice layout with really nice views all over the course. The course itself is somewhat challenging but keeps it fun. Fairways are well maintained and the greens are quick. Check this course out if you can.
Great Golf in the Smokies
Gatlinburg Golf Course (in Pigeon Forge) is a must play for any golfer. Very scenic and very enjoyable.
Beautiful Golf Course
This course is very challenging especially when it's wet. There are quite a few blind shots on this course so it's important to study the hole descriptions. I like a challenge so this is a fun course to play. I did end up slipping and falling a couple of times because it was so wet. I was covered in mud by the time we finished. My wife found it really funny, me not so much. Will definitely play here again.
Love this course
Love the design and character of the course. Played it in late November, so greens were under maintenance. Will definitely play it again.
Very enjoyable
Played as twosome went very well. No holdups weather was as good as it gets. Fairways were brown, expected but they were great. Greens had just been aerated so it made that part difficult. Just a dandy course with superb views. Playing again this week.
December Golf in Tn Mountains !!
Man we got lucky on the weather. 61F with little wind an no rain is an anomaly in Gatlinburg so we took advantage. Greens had been punched but not too aggressively and still rolled true. This course is NOT walkable unless you are Austrian. Severe elevation changes especially on back. I played blues and my wife red. I'm a 12 ( Age 60 ). Shot 84 so I rate it moderate. Honestly, about 15 good holes and I bet the views in October are breathtaking. Two holes ( both Par 3 on the back ) bear mentioning. The first # 12 features a Golden Tee style drop off...most severe I've ever seen. I honestly didn't even realize I hit the green but no one else found their ball. Yes, its unique but kind of silly and needs a ball drop area since the slopes on all sides are ankle breakers. # 17 is truly unfair. Its a 232 yard Par 3 ( 218 from the whites !! ) and is straight uphill surrounded by rough. To a back pin my GPS was 249. My guess is that with the elevation it was playing about 260 for me and about 210 for my wife. If it was windy it would be unreachable by anyone other than someone with a card. Since the back plays to 34 ( front 37 ) my advice would be to take the tees back a little and it becomes a nice par 4 between a very challenging ( yet fair ) 16 and 18. Otherwise, the course had variety and a fair balance in hole length and design. We really enjoyed it. Oh, and my wife says it needs more ladies merchandise ;)
We got exactly what we were looking for on our vacation here. The course has a lot of elevation change and elevated greens. It is all about ball placement with lots of narrow fairways and valleys! We will surely be back!
I’ve played many courses, but nothing compares to this one. The front nine is alright, but the back nine is what makes this course. You won’t find a better course in the country that is this nice and for this price. Once you make it to the back, you can go ahead and put your cover on your driver, very short. Definitely make it to number 12 if nothing else.
Breathtaking views!
Gatlinburg Golf Course has the most spectacular views of the GSM. We always have a fantastic and fun round, playing this highly challenging course. Grounds are well maintained, greens are flawless, and CLEAN course restrooms!
Highly recommended for the course play, the views, and the $$!
A+ layout, A condition (for season)
Everything was great! Very interesting layout and beautiful scenery. Very good condition for late fall (only a few bad spots in rough and had a couple greens needed a little attention but for the season it was great). Biggest bummer is no range. Good practice green and chipping area though and I️ didn’t use it but apparently there is a hitting area to warm up in. Very fun and interesting with all the elevation changes! Highly recommend it’s a unique experience.
Nice coarse
Course is nice, would like to play it a few times to get comfortable with distance and shot selection. They have several holes only cart path only. Really makes it tough when u dont know the course
