1st 9 for the score 2nd 9 for the view...
You may want to score as low as you can on the first 9 because the second 9 can be a bear.... There are serious elevation changes and doglegs on the back 9 that require really good shots to be made... the whole course was in great shape and a fun to play.... the 12th is a gem....
Children under 6 are not allowed...discrimination?
So I'm standing on the first tee box and this guy walks up and tells me I have to leave because my son can't ride in the cart if he is under the age of 6. I thought it was a joke but he pointed out the manager and he told me the same. The city of Gatlinburg owns the course and there have been several accidents with small kids in carts so they made the rule. My family traveled across two states and planned to play here for more than a week. We booked online and we're never informed about the rule. The course website does not list it either. I was told they have a sign in the clubhouse although no one ever showed it to me after I had asked to see it. Long story short...I was refunded my money... Minus the booking fee from golfnow.com. It's sad that I was trying to teach my son to love the game with his dad but we were asked to leave over an obscure rule. Although the 16 year old girl in the group behind us was allowed to play in her daisy dukes and tank top...classy folks in Gatlinburg.
Beautiful Mountain Course
I try to golf different parts of the country as I am vacationing. I have not played all over the country by any means but have played in several different states. This was the first mountain course and it did not dissapoint. The staff was very friendly. I played 18 holes at 2:10 pm. The course was not very busy while I was there and I played through very quickly. The course was fairly wooded with several elevation changes as you would expect in a mountain course. Take extra balls if you are an average or below average golfer like myself. If you love nature and love golf this would be a course you would not want to pass up a chance to play. Worth every penny.
Course layout is awesome
I didn't get to play with anyone, but I had a great time anyway. Staff was friendly and the course exceeded expectations. #12 will blow you away!
A tale of 2 courses
Two nines completely different, front was level and straight,2 birdies, two bogies back was up and down, lots of doglegs, hit 3 wood off most back nine tees to avoid going straight into oblivion. One birdie, 3 bogies. Overall the course was in great shape.
Great experience...
Had a great time... Greens were being air rated thus slow... Everything else was great...
Great Course
The staff was very friendly and helpful. I thoroughly enjoyed my round. I will be there again next trip to Gatlinburg.
Punched greens in June??
Yeah I didn't expect it either,no aerification alert! Just found out at first green, should def let someone know before they get to the course
Like two courses
Front nine is very open and enjoyable, back nine has a lot more challenge good thing we were stretched out from the front. Great course can't wait to go back
Love the layout
The course is in good shape and has really great layout. The only bad experience was all the gnats. You definitely need bug spray
Tree
Very little grass in the fairways. Beautiful scenery.
Sort of Tricky
The front nine lays out and plays very traditionally. The back nine, gives the flavor of the Smokies but has a lot of trick holes. Take a look at #10 for example of the entire back nine.
Great course. Just always crowded
I love this course but it is always slow play due to crowds.
OMG!
If you do not like this golf course, you do not like golf. How this course is not the number one public course in Tennessee is a mystery to me. I have played it twice and words can not describe the views and challenges presented by this course. I have played Greystone," the best public course in TN," and this is 100% better by far. You will not be disappointed. We were paired up with a single, but it was an option, not mandatory. But Lloyd just became a new friend. Awesome day of golf!!!
This course is worth playing several times.
We had a great time playing this course. The back nine is a true mountain course. We will play here again.
Challenging course
Front nine open back nine tight lot of elevation changes nice greens and bunkers easy access
Gaitlingburg gc
This course was a lot of fun to play. Lots of hills, big greens and ample fairways. The scenery was also easy on the eyes.
Amazing Course
Beautiful. I loved every second of it. The greens were great and the views were incredible. Would highly recommend it.
Excellent Course
This is my favorite course thus far! I've only been playing for a few years, so I've only played a dozen or so courses, but the scenery, challenge, and facilities are top notch! I look forward to playing here again.
Château Élan Stay & Play Golf Package
I was lucky to call ahead before I played and was informed about this rule. It should be listed. It is interesting that all I hear on t.v. and everywhere else is how to get the kids interested in the game. Rules like this are the reason participation in the game are dying out.
