Nice Muni Course

My wife & I enjoyed our round of golf here. The price was about $35 each, plus golf club rental which ranges from $40-50. The fairways had a few dry spots, but the greens were in good shape. There are about 8 holes that are golf path only, and the course is hilly. One of the better muni courses.

Amazing Views

To start with the downside, this was an unplanned golf trip while visiting the area so I dropped $50 on a rental set of clubs on top of green fees. The fairway was not in that good of condition, it appeared dry and had dirt patches scattered. Now the positive, this course is fun and some of the most amazing views and layout i've seen. The front 9 is ok, but the back 9 is great. All the holes in the back carve right through the mountains and have spectacular looks off the tee box, hole 12 is one of the few times I had to stop and say wow before I tee'd off. Would love to play again if I'm in the area, as long as I bring my clubs the rates are reasonable.

Beautiful scenery

We golfed on a day that was cart paths only, not what you want to do on a course as steep as this. Well worth the visit just for the views.

Greens rough

Great views and a very challenging fairways with all the hills and valley's and the narrow fairways on the back 9. The only downfall of the whole experience was that the greens had been plugged last week and made it terrible to putt on them. Wish they would have let us know before we went out to play. Would like to try again sometime but will check with them first about the greens.

Great Experience

Best way I can describe this course is that it is always in great condition. The front side plays like Marshall Henderson and the back side like Gary Payton. Enjoy!

Deceiving

Don't be scared if the grass looks yellowish. The turf looked like you wouldn't want to play ,however this is far from the truth. The turf was soft and easy to hit off of. Southern hospitality at its finest by the staff. Thanks

Awesome...except for the timing of aeration

The greens were aerated and covered in sand, which was not ideal. Otherwise, though, the course was plenty good with some very picturesque and challenging angles.

Memorable

Have you ever played a course where all of the holes were were, for lack of a better word, generic. Well, that is definately not true of Gatlinburg! It is picturesque, challenging, & scenic, and every hole is an adventure. The par three with the 200 ft. drop just about gave me vertigo. But, if you have a hip or knee problem, you might want something a bit flatter. The day we play was "cart path only" and you need to be part billy goat to navigate it.
The course was immaculate, even though it was very early in the season. The greens are fair and true, the fairways friendly (not too narrow), but this course is not for the fainthearted or the 4X/year player. It is long and difficult, and the single digiter (Hubby) will surely play 4 to 6 shots over their handicap. As a 20, it ate my lunch. So, if your ego can't take it, at least enjoy the beauty of the setting.

Awesome signature hole

Course layout was pretty decent, my only real complaint was that there wasn't a driving range. As a novice golfer I generally prefer to warm up and hit at least a small bucket of balls to loosen up and get my swing into a smooth groove. Other than that the the quality of the course was good.

As far as pace of play, don't play here if you are expecting a 4 hour round. There wasn't a starter and everyone just kind of got in line and waited. Lots of waiting behind groups of 4-6.

That being said, there signature hole was worth every minute waited. Absolutely incredible. Trust their tips and swing the club for the yardage given. Got a birdie!!

A well maintained and challenginmg course

I was surprised at how good the greens were for this time of year, the rest of the course was dormant as would be expected. The routing is great, and some spectacular holes - well worth the play!

Beautiful views and challenging fairways

Being from Michigan, I particularly enjoyed the scenic views of the Smoky Mountains which surround these fairways. The back nine is more of a challenge than the front, but both are fair. They have a variety of tees which allows you to play to your skill level, and still enjoy the game. I highly recommend you give it a try!

Shot placement is key or it is a very demanding course.

Front nine has many side hill lies and plays longer than the listed yardage. Back nine is shorter, but unique with narrow fairways, blind shots, and long distance between holes. One hole is 185 yds and drops 196 feet from tee box to green, another par 3 is 235 uphill. Challenging, tough, yet is a must play if you are in the area... Gorgeous play in Autumn with the colors, bring your camera.

some of the best senic holes anywhere

this is my favorite course anywhere. I spend two weeks a year in tenn. and play it twice in each week. the only think I do not like is the slow play, especially on the back 9.

Very resort like

Golf course in good shape, very slow pace of play, no rangers monitoring course. Snack bar attendant was unfriendly as well. Will try another course next time in Gatlinburg.

Overall, an enjoyable and challenging experience.

I would not have played this course at the "walk on" rate, but the GolfNow.com discount made it affordable. The course was in excellent shape--tees, fairways, and greens were all well-maintained. Pace of play was slow because there are so many blind shots and elevated greens. And because the course is in a resort area, most players are unfamiliar with the layout. Staff was friendly and cooperative.
