Space Coast Golf Club
About
Challenge the Savannahs. On the windward side of Merritt island lies one of the most unique golf courses on Florida's Space Coast. The 6,450 yard Gordon G. Lewis design winds through majestic hardwood forests, natural wetlands, and scenic lakes to reveal protected, undulated greens. Nine holes are framed by a natural savannah conservation area, bordered by hammocks with a high canopy of trees and coastal flatwoods. Water, in the form of natural wetlands and manmade lakes, comes into play on thirteen holes. The course boasts several unforgettable holes, such as the 525-yard, par 5 Signature 7th, regarded as one of the most challenging holes in Central Florida. This beautifully tight, typically southern course features six sets of tees, making play ideal for beginners and pros. The back tees are demanding even for the best of the best, while our new “Family Tees” are playable by anyone who wants to tee up. Prepare for your round by warming up on our practice facilities that include: unique aqua range, chipping and bunker area, and full-sized practice putting green. Look around during your visit, and you will notice nature's splendor on display. Our preserve features many water birds, birds of prey, reptiles, and low country mammals that make the savannahs their home. The fairways additionally offer a great view of the nearby Cape Canaveral rocket launches. Our southern plantation styled Clubhouse is a great place to start and end your day at The Savannahs. Inside you will find a golf shop, plus a bar and grill with great food and hospitality to match. Or, wander outside to the veranda overlooking the aqua range and golf course to catch the sunset.

Golfer Reviews
Shot makers course
I only lost about 15 balls; but had fun doing it. I don't stay in the middle much and this is a narrow course for me. My partner liked it a lot more but he's played for 30+ years and stays in the middle. We'll play it again I'm sure.
Nice day at the course
Booked on line thru golfnow for an 8:52 tee time. I arrived about 30 minutes prior to my tee time, was checked in very quickly, and reported to the starter. I paid $31 for the round which was a bargain in my mind. The course was quite challenging with plenty of water in play and very undulating greens. The tees and greens were fine but many of the fairways were very wet and muddy and had bare spots and tire ruts in places. The two men I played with said the course is usually quite wet because it is built on a swamp and does not drain very well. It was an enjoyable round of golf played in under 4 hours with two very nice partners. I would play it again based on the rates and the layout.
Great time
Very nice course
Could use some more yardage markers
Very visual. Lots of wildlife
Overall nice time
In Florida on vacation, going to try 1 more round before I leave
course under normal conditions could be good
five holes had no carts because the fair ways were sopping wet. Were told after that they were reseeding and needed to keep the fairways extra wet. These holes were not fun to be on. Mosquitoes were hungry on these holes as well.
Mosquito Attack!
Course is much improved after new irrigation installed. Low areas made the course soggy and cart path on some holes. Very nice layout with good challenge on shorter par 4's. The biggest problem was the mosquitos - they were everywhere.
Greens in excellent condition
I have not played this course in many years, although I used to play it quite a bit. The greens were in excellent condition and roll true. Unfortunately, the fairways had some issues, but this was likely due to the erratic weather which we've had over the last few months. The staff was extremely friendly and allowed me to tee off on the back nine as I was a single. I was able to move through the course quickly and when it came time to make the turn, the staff let me out in front of a foursome ready to tee off.
In regards to the course, it is tight and water filled. I enjoy that you have to hit shots instead of just bombing driver, although there are holes you can do that on as well. Great value for $20 on golf now. Definately will be back.
Great place to play
We often play here at Christmas time while vacationing at nearby Cocoa Beach. We love this course - always see the odd gator or two, the birds - and the layout is challenging enough for me, a 21 handicap, and my husband, a 4 handicap. There is trouble always lurking but the course plays friendly from the forward tees in particular. The greens were good - not as much break as you might think! The course was not busy so we teed off early and were done in about 3 and a half hours. Very enjoyable!
Chewed up: both on & off
We've played Savannahs numerous times & most of the time the course is in good shape. After playing our last 5-6 rounds at new courses and finding out that there are prestige courses within driving distance we grabbed this close to home. What a disappointment! I don't knock other reviewers, and maybe when they played, the course was in better shape., but I didn't see it Saturday. Granted the greens were the best part of the course. Other than that, I don't recommend this course in the shape it's in. The fairways looked liked a minefield, especially the back 9. Tee boxes aren't great either. To make matters worse, make sure you have plenty of insect spray as the mosquitos are having a field day, especially near the holes that border the woods. I'll wait awhile and check conditions before I go back.
Swamp!
Tree trimmings all over course edges, fairways all were casual water to just plain muddy, lots of ponds with no weed trimming done near edges, some bunkers had many rocks in them and were not consistent. The greens were the only component that was in good shape while a little slow they rolled nicely. If you have a busy schedule, they do not have a pace ranger and the round could be over 5 hours
Great time
Booked tee time as a single and was paired up with a perfect playing partner. A small bucket of range balls was included, range landing area is a lake! All in all I had a great day with my new buddy. I will definitely go back again.
Nice Course, Lots of Hazards
This is a really nice course with a pretty good value for the money, especially because of Golf Now. We paid 20 dollars a person which was a steal. The staff were very friendly. It's scenic with lots of water and woods surrounding the sides of the course. Unfortunately with all the lakes... there are a lot of hazards, but most of the fairways are pretty wide. Bring some extra balls along if you are an amateur like myself.
Unfortunately with all the rain lately, half of the holes were cart path only. Staff was very friendly.
Solid
Good experience here. Friendly staff. Will come back for sure.
tight course not extremely well maintained.
The course had some quality issues in terms of course maintenance. The Greens had mixed grasses and fairways had several bare spots. There's lots of water and is very tight.
great value for a decent course
Have played this course a dozen times. Each time was a good experience. Great fairways and greens.
Nice course to play
Course fairways have greatly improved. Greens were fast but rolled well and were true. Enjoyed play here. Liked the fact that they don't pair you up with others if you are only a twosome.
Value was great. Will play agIn
Target golf
Be prepared to play target golf to small greens. Water hazards come into play on almost every hole. You don't have to be long, but you better be precise.
Savannah's = Great Value
Good course, Great Value for the $. Greens in good shape, fairways overall decent with a few rough spots. More yardage markers in fairways would be nice on sprinkler heads ect. Overall good mix of technical shot making holes and open straight shots.
Savannahs Golf Club Review - Sept 2014
Conditions are boarderline between C+ and D- conditions. Some holes OK. About four holes are in need of major repair. Huge dirt areas in fairways. Obvious drainage issues. Would spend more than $25 USD to play.
Good course
Great course to practice your game. Great for the money and this is my local course to go play.
