Palmer at Saddlebrook Golf & Tennis Resort

About
The Palmer Course is one of two championship courses designed by Arnold Palmer at the Saddlebrook Resort just north of Tampa. Although it is seemingly tame at 6,273 yards, it plays much tougher. The golf course features more elevation changes than the resort's other course, the Saddlebrook. The undulating, tree-lined fairways were designed to mimic a hilly New England course but the moss-covered cypresses, palm trees, and marshy swamplands are true to the Florida landscape. The layout features tight fairways framed with contoured mounding and the occasional water hazard but the most formidable challenge comes from the bunkers strategically placed along the undulating greens. The approaches to the tiered greens, which are often sloped from back to front, demand accuracy. Golfers should be prepared to use every club in their bag and employ a variety of different shots.

Great bang for the buck
My daughter and I played a round at the Palmer Course getting her ready for a junior golf event. A hurricane had come through the day before and dumped a lot of rain. The course was in pretty good shape despite the rain. We played in under four hours with cart paths only. The front nine was much more difficult than the back. Would definitely play here again.
Landing Spots
The course has a great routing and is not your typical straignt hole with tree lined fairways. The course moves left to right and right to left on a fair number of holes. The biggest lesson I learned playing this course was you need to be very precise with your tee shot and approach shot landing area. Lots of undulation on the fairways and greens can make a decent shot a lottle of trouble if it rolls into the rough or hazard. Aim for the high side.
Saddlebrook Palmer course
Course conditions are good. Tee boxes, fairways and greens are all in good condition. My only issues are that the course is high priced for what you get and there were no restrooms available as all were closed. They could still be open if they were cleaned regularly but they elect to close them. In addition, you don’t get back to the clubhouse or even a snack shop at the turn. Plus, you park several blocks away and need to be Shuttled back and forth. I like having my cart near my car so that I can pack and unpack what I need.
NICE AND BREZZY DAY IN WESLEY CHAPEL
FIRST TIME ON THIS TRACK OVERALL NICE TRACK,SOME TOUGH HOLES, LOT OF WATER SEVERAL HOLES, OVERALL GOOD SHAPE .
Golf course switched us
We were suppose to play Palmer Course but were told by starter we had to play other course as they had shotgun on Palmer.
We didn't get to play course I reserved. Bad greens brought fairways
Nice course...still a little wet...
Course as ravaged by rain a few weeks ago. It’s still got quite a few spots that need to dry up. It’s still a great course, though. Highly recommend it.
Still a bit soggy
Course is usually in great shape, but the rains over the last few weeks have kept the course saturated. Greens have a few bad spots, but generally roll well.
No rakes in bunkers which is pretty routine these pandemic days, but bunkers were in good shape. Need some sand in the carts to repair divot holes. I'd be happy to bring my own cup / scoop.
A forgiving but challenging course
Not long but challenging with generous fairways and testy greens. Unfortunately we dealt with a week of rain which made the course very wet. We will definitely be back!
Wet. Wet. Wet.
Courses was wet and muddy. Lost three balls in fairway in first five holes. Great course except during rainy season. I’ll return when it dries.
Golf Now Failed
I prepaid for a "Hot Deal" from Golf Now a week in advance of playing the Palmer Course at Saddlebrook Golf Course. When we arrived there was a junior tournament in progress and the pro shop told us that they had contacted Golf Now weeks ago about the tournament and to not book tee times for that weekend(Sept 12-13, 2020).
Did Golf Now contact me to let me know that they made a mistake and will refund me my $211 for four rounds of golf? No and there seems to be no way to speak to a human and their live "chat now" function doesn't work.
I hope to finally get a refund. I had to write this review to actually get to tell Golf Now about my issue.
Excellent course, on the short side
First time playing this course. Under 6300 yards from the back tees, so on the short side but the course is still challenging enough. Not very many flat fairways, rolling with plenty of traps and water. Pace was right on through 12 holes, then it got backed up a bit. I guess that will happen with a par 3 18. Finished in 4 hours though, Pace on this course should be about 3.5 hours. Course was in excellent condition.
First time at Saddlebrook
Nice layout, a little wet in places but overall a great day.
Put this one on your list!
Great conditions. Small greens. First 3 holes are TOUGH! Eases up om back nine. Good golfers will appreciate the design.
