The Links At Bodega Harbour
About
The Links at Bodega Harbour is conveniently situated along the Sonoma County Coast, only an hour from San Francisco and two hours from Sacramento. Its location perched above the Pacific also provides stunning ocean views. Designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr.in 1978, the back nine was the original course before the front nine was added nine years later. Jones designed a traditional Scottish links layout complete with rolling fairways and fast, undulating greens. There are almost 100 bunkers strategically situated throughout as well as thick patches of native coastal rough that are just waiting to swallow even slightly errant shots. The golf course is not long but it requires both skill and strategy. The final three holes are not only the most challenging, they also boast the most breathtaking views.

Challenging, with great views
The traps are challenging, very few flat lies after you tee off. When you feel you have everything dialed in try this course!
Experience recommended
Great course, but play with friend or member who know his way and distance. Poorly marked holes and distance, especially if in fog.
Bodega Bay Links Couse
We had a wonderful round of golf with another couple that they paired us up with.
The weather was a bit cold but after two holes, that all was behind us and we were enjoying the couse with all its beauty and the Pacific Ocean as a back drop.
Afterwards, over to the restaurant for a round of drings and appitizers, with live music in the bar.
Great day.
Bodega blowout...
We love this course. Superchallenging in good conditions but nearly impossible when the 3-club fog wind shows up. Be prepared for plenty of elevation changes, uneven lies, rapid weather changes and water views. Food in the bar is very good.
Worth a trip
The Links at Bodega Harbour is really a fantastic course. The front 9 plays a bit hilly, like links golf built into a steep hill (read: difficult), while the back 9 mellows out. Everything is extremely well kept (tees, fairways, greens, bunkers), the course was wide open on a Sunday at noon, and if you're in the area I'd recommend it.
Only downsides were the (a) lack of driving range (although they have a mat in a cage for wamup) and (b) the slightly weird crowd that plays here -- although could have just been a random couple groups I happened across.
If this course was within a half hour of SF, it'd cost well over $100 and be packed all the time -- that's how nice it is.
Beautiful, well maintained course. Staff was super friendly and nice. Extremely pleasant day.
The course was very nice, well maintained. We will most certainly be playing here again. A little course knowledge will go a long ways on some of the holes. Staff was very friendly and made our trip out there pleasant.
summer rounds can be windy but worth the effort
the pro shop warned us that the winds could easily reach 25 knots and they were correct; typical for a summertime round here but the course is always in great condition so it mattered little. Greens rolled very nicely; fairways weren't too tight and rolled just enough to be pleasant. Should come out here more often.
Great course for the money
I booked via golf now and got a hot deal for $39 in a Wednesday afternoon. Course was empty, day was beautiful and almost had no wind. Definitely was able to enjoy the course, the great views and repeat the bad shots.
The front 9 greens had been lightly aerated probably 1 week prior I played there so they were not 100%, but did not interfered much. Back 9 were in great shape.
Its a decent/long course if you play from the black tees, with strong wind it will require you to be on the top of your game. I played with little wind and just couple par 4 that ended up being long, the rest was totally manageable.
Fairways in great shape, so was the rough. Good bunkers.
Great place to play. Not sure how it would be during the weekends...some blind spots and because its a links course people tend to lose more balls...
On the first par 5, play an Iron, like a 3, 5 if you have some distance. The hole is confusing at first but fun at the end. Do not drive, do not use wood or hybrid from the tee box. Unless you have substantial wind blowing at your face.
Lastly, lots of houses everywhere, so if your drive is like a russian roulette I encourage you to think twice where to pull it.
Have fun
Beautiful Course
If you are in the Bodega Bay area I recommend you play here, especially if it is sunny on the bay. Almost every hole had a great view of the bay. Tough course though so hit it straight.
On the day we played July 22, it was sunny and no wind. Great conditions as it can get windy.
Beautiful course and setting by the bay/ocean. Hilly, links conditions and when you land in the tall grass, that grass does not forgive. Had a seafood dinner afterwards for a great day with friends.
A nice course but challenging
I teed-off at noon. The course was not busy and the pace was good. I played this course for the first time and it was indeed challenging. A nice course but slightly over-priced.
Well maintained, challenging, great staff - needs a marshal
Unless you're good with uphill, downhill and side hill lies, you need to play this course more than once to know where the flat lies are - or play with someone with course knowledge. I played 2 days in a row, so was able to aim my shots better on day 2. Day 1 was warm with minimal wind. Day 2 had moderate wind, which makes the course way more difficult - especially the back 9. I can't imagine what it would be like with strong winds.
The course is well maintained and the staff on the days I played were great.
The course could use a marshal to move things along.
Best link course in Northern CA
One of my very favorites!!!! Try to make this a monthly golf outing.......
Slow weekend play
Great day for golf and the course was in fine shape. However, the pace of play was 3 hours per 9 holes which involved waiting on almost every hole. Finally, after 4 hours and playing 13 holes, I gave up and left.
It's all about the wind
You definitely need to see this course at least once to be able to correctly play it. Quite a few blind shots and the affect of the wind to consider. That wind is the biggest factor to consider. We were playing in 30+ MPH winds that made it laughable with many of our otherwise well struck shots. Quite frankly that ruined the round and made it difficult to appreciate the overall nice course set up and the view. And with the wind up don't be fooled by the short yardage - you'll see.
Windy but worth it!
This is the second time I've played this course but only the first time where I got to play all 18 holes. Last I was there, they were renovating the front 9 so I played the back 9 twice.
The wind was strong but it was definitely worth braving. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed by the staff who were very courteous and friendly. The first tee alone provided a magnificent view and with each hole, there were even more spectacular sights to enjoy. The holes varied enough in design to keep us on our toes and challenge our skills. However, they weren't so difficult that they made us miserable and shoot poorly. The pace of place was relaxed since not many people were on the course so we were able to concentrate on our game without being rushed. I just wish we could have kept playing. We'll definitely be back!
Wonderful place to be, let alone play golf!
Booking was cake with GolfNow.
Staff was very friendly and professional.
Last time I played here the wind was gusting something fierce and I lost TEN balls!! Much more pleasant weather this time and we had a blast. This time I tried the black tees (my son is a 5 capper) and didn't get hurt too much. Could have been more fun from one tee in front of that.
Forget all the technical stuff, I could play there every week-end. The vistas are just spectacular and there is a very nice vibe getting around the course.
Front nine very distinct from back nine.
This is a challenging course beginning with the tee shot on number one! Add in the coastal wind and you are in for some fun. The difficult greens on the front nine along with the last 3 holes on the back nine add up to a great day of golf.
Extremely windy and cold
It's extremely windy and cold throughout 18 holes. I don't think even professional golfers will play in this condition. The tee-time should not have been offered by the golf course. Only a handful of people were there and there's no one behind me. It did not worth the money regardless of the discounts. Plus the 2.5hr drive from San Jose. In my opinion either courses at Halfmoon Bay would be a better choice if you want to play a link course.
