The Links At Bodega Harbour
About
The Links at Bodega Harbour is conveniently situated along the Sonoma County Coast, only an hour from San Francisco and two hours from Sacramento. Its location perched above the Pacific also provides stunning ocean views. Designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr.in 1978, the back nine was the original course before the front nine was added nine years later. Jones designed a traditional Scottish links layout complete with rolling fairways and fast, undulating greens. There are almost 100 bunkers strategically situated throughout as well as thick patches of native coastal rough that are just waiting to swallow even slightly errant shots. The golf course is not long but it requires both skill and strategy. The final three holes are not only the most challenging, they also boast the most breathtaking views.

A nice course but challenging
I teed-off at noon. The course was not busy and the pace was good. I played this course for the first time and it was indeed challenging. A nice course but slightly over-priced.
Well maintained, challenging, great staff - needs a marshal
Unless you're good with uphill, downhill and side hill lies, you need to play this course more than once to know where the flat lies are - or play with someone with course knowledge. I played 2 days in a row, so was able to aim my shots better on day 2. Day 1 was warm with minimal wind. Day 2 had moderate wind, which makes the course way more difficult - especially the back 9. I can't imagine what it would be like with strong winds.
The course is well maintained and the staff on the days I played were great.
The course could use a marshal to move things along.
Best link course in Northern CA
One of my very favorites!!!! Try to make this a monthly golf outing.......
Slow weekend play
Great day for golf and the course was in fine shape. However, the pace of play was 3 hours per 9 holes which involved waiting on almost every hole. Finally, after 4 hours and playing 13 holes, I gave up and left.
It's all about the wind
You definitely need to see this course at least once to be able to correctly play it. Quite a few blind shots and the affect of the wind to consider. That wind is the biggest factor to consider. We were playing in 30+ MPH winds that made it laughable with many of our otherwise well struck shots. Quite frankly that ruined the round and made it difficult to appreciate the overall nice course set up and the view. And with the wind up don't be fooled by the short yardage - you'll see.
Windy but worth it!
This is the second time I've played this course but only the first time where I got to play all 18 holes. Last I was there, they were renovating the front 9 so I played the back 9 twice.
The wind was strong but it was definitely worth braving. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed by the staff who were very courteous and friendly. The first tee alone provided a magnificent view and with each hole, there were even more spectacular sights to enjoy. The holes varied enough in design to keep us on our toes and challenge our skills. However, they weren't so difficult that they made us miserable and shoot poorly. The pace of place was relaxed since not many people were on the course so we were able to concentrate on our game without being rushed. I just wish we could have kept playing. We'll definitely be back!
Wonderful place to be, let alone play golf!
Booking was cake with GolfNow.
Staff was very friendly and professional.
Last time I played here the wind was gusting something fierce and I lost TEN balls!! Much more pleasant weather this time and we had a blast. This time I tried the black tees (my son is a 5 capper) and didn't get hurt too much. Could have been more fun from one tee in front of that.
Forget all the technical stuff, I could play there every week-end. The vistas are just spectacular and there is a very nice vibe getting around the course.
Front nine very distinct from back nine.
This is a challenging course beginning with the tee shot on number one! Add in the coastal wind and you are in for some fun. The difficult greens on the front nine along with the last 3 holes on the back nine add up to a great day of golf.
Extremely windy and cold
It's extremely windy and cold throughout 18 holes. I don't think even professional golfers will play in this condition. The tee-time should not have been offered by the golf course. Only a handful of people were there and there's no one behind me. It did not worth the money regardless of the discounts. Plus the 2.5hr drive from San Jose. In my opinion either courses at Halfmoon Bay would be a better choice if you want to play a link course.
Tough course because of extreme wind in excess of 25 mph Quit after 5 holes after being blown over on every shot by wind.
Attempted to play on May 21 after getting a 25 % discount from Golf Now. 12:30 tee time. Unfortunately could not play beyond 5 holes because of excessive wind . Impossible to hit any real shots . Left sparsely occupied course. I went into pro shop advised them of my prediciment and drove home some 26 miles to the east.
Good idea to check weather man before driving to this golf course which sets on the bay at Bodega Harbor. I did not, and wasted a drive + money to play 5 holes.

Loved the course, suffered the weather
Great challenging course. We came from inland not aware that it is common for the course to be windy and foggy. Had a fun, cold time. Next time I'd call ahead and ask the pro shop staff for a weather update.
From the t boxes to the greens, the course is in great shape. The sand is the bunkers is consistant and there is plenty of it. Greens are at least 12
From the Tee boxes to the greens, the course is in great shape. The sand in the bunkers is consistent and there is plenty of it. Greens are at least 12 on the stint meter. Played on a beautiful day with no fog. Views are outstanding.
What an amazing day!
We had a wonderful round. The course was great condition. The tee boxes were well maintained and were even for great footing.
Fairways and rough were in great shape and for the most part wide open. The bunkers were well groomed and plentiful.
Green were true and smooth!
This course was thoroughly enjoyable and more half the price of some very prestigious venues.
A challenge worth taking
The greens were in excellent condition. Slightly breezy but a great day with outstanding views. I am a high handicapper but I love the challenge this course offers.
Challenging Course; great views but lots of wind!
This was one of the craziest rounds of golf I've ever played. At least 30-40 mph of wind on every single hole, every single shot. The course was in great shape, greens were very nice. Layout of the course is fun and the drive there (from the east bay) was beautiful. No driving range was a bummer; we found out the day before we played so we actually stopped at Adobe Creek to hit balls. We tee'd off at 1:20 PM on Saturday; I don't know if we went on a 'bad' day or if that's just how the course is (as far as the wind) but it was extremely tough. Let's put it this way; I hit a 5 WOOD FROM 150 OUT ON THE PAR 3 17TH HOLE! It was definitely an experience unlike anything I have ever had before. The views of the Ocean and Bay are gorgeous and almost every hole has a unique view. It's hard to blame the course because of the wind but it makes it hard to recommend to any of my friends.
Beautiful.corse, will play again,,,
Unfortunately , the weather was foggy, could not see where I was to go , but a first rate beautiful course that I will try again when the weather permits .
beautiful scenery, tough course
The experience of this course begins with the scenic drive to Bodega Bay, Past memories of Hitchcocks' The Birds, the road winds through Marin County hamlets. Course is quite hilly, winding through homes however this is not a typical real estate course, as the elevation changes provide an open view to the Ocean on almost all holes. Visible fog banks answer the question why this was the setting for Carpenters' "The Fog". Great value but could use more distance markers on fairway or otherwise more prominent distance guidance. Overall signage is lacking, as it is unclear where certain things are, such as the proshop. Usage of gas carts appear a bit outdated, but maybe the hilliness is a challenge for regular cart batteries.
Restaurant serves very good food, so stop by there after your round.
Beautiful Course!!!
I don't mind the 1 1/2 hour drive from Oakland to play here.
This is a fun and beautiful course. I would have given 5 stars but on this visit the greens were in repair.
Great course, but not when it is blowing 25 plus
This is a beautiful course and challenging even when it isn't blowing 25 mph plus. The day I happened to play it was going just that. I was hitting 3 wood where I normally hit a 5 iron and still coming up short into the wind. The one downside is the scenery is obscured by the homes that line most of the holes. It is worth the trip if you live or are in the area. Not sure how the pace of play is normally but walking as a single I caught up to a group 4 holes ahead of me (this might have had to do with the wind).
