Course needs work
A decent, but at times quirky layout. Some holes extremely and unfairly narrow. Turf ok, not great, many unfilled divots; greens bumpy with unreliable speed, some slow, some fast; some sand bunkers rock hard and not cared for, certainly few of them raked; tees in decent shape for the most part, although several were not flat, at least one was domed in the middle, some trees are dead and should be take down- ugly and potentially dangerous; unsightly pile of refuse, limbs and tree trunks on one tee-to-landing area cart drive; snack shop at the half-way point offered little - drinks, energy bars, small selection of fruit, but a pretty lady behind the counter. On a positive note, four of the par-4s were long and tough (around 400 yards or more). Definitely challenging. Nice driving range. Overall, next time I'll try the East course. If it's the same, I probably won't rush back to Rancho Canada
Challenging, but fair golf course
Had the opportunity to play Rancho Canada - West course. It is a fun, yet challenging lay out, where accuracy is much more important than length of drives. It makes you think your way around the course. Very enjoyable outing.
Excellent course for bogie and higher golfers
I found the West course at Rancho Cañada to be one of the easier courses around. It has a few very tight and therefor tough holes, but in general the layout is straight forward and forgiving. The course condition was very good, not great. Most of the greens were relatively flat and not fast. Rough very manageable. On a beautiful 65 degree sunny Sunday afternoon (11:40 tee time) we played in 4hrs 20minutes – excellent. I had one of my best rounds in two years and thoroughly enjoyed playing there. If you are a golfer that wants a tough test of all your golfing skills then Rancho Cañada may not be for you. But if you are an average player looking for a simple, fun golf experience that won't chew you up, I highly recommend this course.
This course offers good challenges
We had a great time. Flow was perfect, course was challenging, golfers were nice and upbeat, employees were helpful and friendly. The weather was perfect!
Beautiful course in Carmel valley
It was my first time playing rancho canada west. Scenery is gorgeous and landscape of golf course is very nice. There were a few holes that had narrow fairways with trees on both sides but play smart and you'll be fine! Definitely will be golfing here again!
Great & Fun Course...
Challenging and fun course. It fits the needs for beginners, intermediate and advanced. My only complaint would be the leaves and debris that fall onto the greens during the fall and spring seasons. Can't control mother nature, so it's not that much of an issue. You should play here if given the chance.
this course has a river on many of the holes
back side has alot of long holes and big trees.along which the river bed runs that bruns through the course
Course in very good condition and the staff is great
This is one of my favorite courses to play because of the location and the beauty of the area.
Rancho Cañada West course
I played a lot of courses over the years and this course rates among some of the best.
The course is not very long but you do have to shape your shots or be very straight. The views are magnificent especially the back 9 up against the Carmel Valley mountain.range. The value is great especially when I used the Golf Now app on my phone. I almost felt guilty playing a course like this for such a great price. The pace of play was fast and the staff was very friendly and helpful.
I will definitely play here again and recommend the course to friends and family
Reasonable Price Course
One of our favorite courses here in Carmel. We highly recommend it!
A Quality Knockoff off Spyglass
I enjoyed the course architecture, the views of the hills are spectacular and the use of the Carmel River exciting. Not too hard, which makes the day very enjoyable for the average golfers out for a good time.
Gorgeous course with interesting challenges
We loved this course. Had played the west course once before which we also liked. This one had a few more challenges (long carries, hills, more bunkers). Weather was perfect and the course was in great condition. Pace was fine - just got a little backed up on the back 9. People very friendly.
Really enjoyed my round
Played in afternoon. Course not busy, nice fast round. Went back next day!
Sunny day
Great weather , one course closed so it too six hours. We teed off at one and didn't finish. Course was in good shape though
Well thought out design
A nice lay-out as it snakes through the valley. Good mix of challenging and easier holes.... not every hole is a drive and an 8 iron.
Incredible experience
From the guys in the clubhouse through the course, the place rocks! Greens rolled pure… fairways lush. A great golfing day!
Hit it straight!
This was our second time playing this course. We played in rain and mist our first time, and virtually had the course to ourselves. This time out the weather was gorgeous and the course was full. Even so, we were able to play as a twosome and were not paired up, and the staff was uniformly friendly and helpful. Reading other reviews I was afraid this course would eat our lunch, but it was manageable by concentrating on keeping the ball in the fairway. No unfair holes that I can recall, and I would certainly play it again.
Better than the East Course. An "ok" course.
Played both 18's on this day. The last few holes of this 18 are pretty good holes. This 18 is not as tricked up as the East Course. If you play 18 here play this course. The course value is about right for the price. Nothing exceptional but worth playing.
Decent course for the money; not much more
This course is "ok". It is priced correctly though. There is a span of holes that runs along a river which are EXTREMELY tight. A few holes are layed out oddly. There are huge trees sitting in the middle of fairways and if you haven't played before you won't know how to play the holes.
nice course
it was nice but rainy day really wet but had fun play soon here
