quirky set up
rancho canada is a carmel valley golf course with an excellent practice area and 36 holes. this is a long established facility
that is quite narrow and cramped on some holes. greens seemed soft and spongy, but kept a decent speed. biggest attraction is the carmel area which almost always has beautiful
weather to play golf
Good course in Monterey
The price is relatively lower than other course in Monterey, but the course condition, equipment is really good. Some holes are challenging slicer, and there are also tough hole for hooker. We really like this course.
Always a great time at Rancho!
Rancho Canada is always a great time. The weather is normally about 5-10 degrees warmer than the ocean courses. The East course is a few stokes easier than the West course.
great value, no crowds, bit chilly with the fog
got there on a thurs and the fog never did clear out...Great value challenging course
Bad Tournament Planning & Slow Play
We were not able to play the course that I had payed for due to the fact that there was a tournament which was running late. We had a 12:07pm Tee-Time for Rancho Canada West in Carmel Valley on Sunday 11/10/2013, but due to the slow play of the tournament they put us out on East Course. Now the big problem started here because doing this not only to us but to everyone else who was checking in for their Tee-Times caused us all to be backed up. Due to the poor scheduling and slow play to both courses we were unable to finish our round. Please call or email with any comments or suggestions, Thanks...
Very nice course to play - beautiful, not too crowded, in good condition
Always an enjoyable experience to play this course. Not too difficult, yet some challenging holes.
Course is beautiful
This golf course is one of our favorites. Both the East and West sides are easier than other Monterey Bay courses, but offer challenges to the golfer that consistently scores in the 90s and low 100s. It is well maintained, but having said that we had difficultly seeing our balls of the fairways because of the multitude of leaves from all of the gorgeous trees! That time of year I guess, but it sure took time.
The staff is cordial, but stuffy. When I check in with the pro shop, I always feel like they are annoyed that I book at a lower rate than "regular" folk...their problem! Golf Now gives us a great value.
greens rolled true
We were very pleased with the staff, pace of play and condition of the course. The starter was very pleasant and willing to give tips about the greens.
Great Staff
I'm a local but with so many courses around Monterey, I don't get to play this course often. The course is kept in nice shape and there's two courses to choose from.
The starter on the east course is so nice and wonderful. A retired Department of Defense guy, he's super nice and helpful.
Better maintained theses days
Good course for the money. Tough to find your ball in the Cottonwood leaves in the Fall. Greens OK, nice setting , well priced
West course has two different feels between front and back 9’s
If you want to card a good score on the west cores, you better make hay on the front nine. You can swing away with your driver and metals on the front; I played the blue tees and got away with something decent on the card. On ten, eleven and sixteen get your birdie or pars, and then hang on to your long irons. Don’t even think of pulling out the driver until 17 unless you want some drama.
The greens all were rolling true with medium speed. I played early morning on a Saturday so they were still soft and receptive to my approaches. Speaking of approaches - Please Fix Your Divots, if you are good enough to hit the greens, Use Your Tool. Even though the ground crews do an excellent job keeping the course nice, it is still our responsibility to keep it that way for others who follow. Go play this course and save $$ on Golf Now.
greens were in great shape . rolled nice
all was fine . just to many 2 somes out there . they slowed up play . players jumping around holes to speed up play.
Great windless day!!
Course plays a little easier without wind. The course was cleaned up and the leaves weren't an issue!! Great day greens are great!!
Interesting layout. Front more wide open. Greens a bit slow.
Saved 45% on standard rate which made it just about right. Would not be happy paying full boat. Lots of pin oaks and sycamores as it's built around the Salinas River. Front nine more open than the back. There were a couple of holes on the back that were ridiculously tight. Greens a bit slow. Fairway conditions were ok but rough was inconsistent. Bunker designs were challenging but need a higher quality of sand.
Solid course, greens in great shape, tough finishing hole
The East course is in decent shape, especially the greens, which were really well maintained, though not super fast. Decent course, on the short side but tight most of the way around, with the exception of a few wide open doglegs........18 is a beast up a big hill and into the wind - tough way to finish....the par 3's from the blues are challenging - fairly long and into narrow greens - helps to know where the flags are as some of the greens are long, meaning a 2 club difference........starter gave me a hard time about being alone in a golf cart saying that golf now meant I should have been sharing, but there was nobody to share with - kind of a weird vibe to start the round - felt unnecessary to bring that up considering the situation.....
Nice course
A very nice course and greens were in super condition.
When the wind blows(from the west) some of the holes are very challenging. Would definitely recommend.
very good one!
we played both East and West course, very nice. Will come again soon.
Always an exceptional value, in a beautiful setting
I have never had a bad experience on either of their two courses at Rancho Canada. The course is always in excellent shape, and the greens are always in great condition, even in the afternoons. The course itself is fairly challenging, even though it is fairly flat, and open on the back nine. Accurate approach shots will be rewarded, and wayward drives can be costly if you want to score. The golf carts are always in excellent shape as well, only lacking GPS and small coolers with your favorite beverage. Play this course anytime, although sometimes a little breezy in the afternoons, and be confident that you will always get your moneys worth in terms of value and enjoyment.
This course was a lot of fun to play
Some very difficult holes very narrow fairways but a lot of fun to play. Staff very friendly! We will be down again to play next year.
Really good value from Golf Now
Rancho West is a solid course and for the Golf Now price a really good value...
