Great Value
Fair price, great staff for sure would play again. Only complaint greens were a little on the bumpy side.... All in all nice course!
good walker
play before noon, the course gets busy if you don't like other golfer heading into your cart.
good value
fun course at a great value!!! Course plays easy with great views.
Rancho Canada West
As a twosome we played in 2:45 hrs. The course was in good shape with the greens being very good. The course has a good mixture of forgiving holes as well as some not so forgiving. Enjoyed the round.
Excellent Value for a very nice course
Despite the lack of rain, the course was in excellent shape. Nice fairways; the greens rolled true. GolfNow's Hot Deal made the long drive from Fremont to Monterey well worth it. Thank you, GolfNow!
Rancho Canada West Course
This is a great course for the GolfNow rate. Lots of trees and some tight fairways, greens are in great shape.
enjoyable golf
overall good golf game, many beautiful vistas
enough challenges crossing creeks
greens were very uneven
some fairways are very confusing, can't figure out tee boxes and direction
hard to find balls in the fairways due to leaves!
best deal
excellent value and very pleasant playing conditions
Lovely Saturday in February
The only complaint we would have is that we noticed there was a $3 charge for the key deposit. We later called and were told that if we didn't return the key to the proshop, we paid. NO ONE told us in advance of this extraneous charge and we felt taken advantage of at best.
Otherwise, all was well
Great to pick for weekend play
Either of the two courses here play FAST, even on weekends. Just be sure to check the weather, because fog can make a huge negative impact on your comfort. East course is wide open, West course has tight fairways.
Fantastic Courses Extreme Value
Both East and West courses are a delight. However, pace was extremely slow on this day (Tuesday) as one course was closed causing a back up on the other. The marshal mentioned to me that the closures happen frequently on Tuesdays. So check before you book. Phenomenal deal for the midday/midweek thru GN!
Easy to find faults with course but I love it anyway
Worst fault is that flat tee boxes don't exist. Greens can be little bumpy and very flat and straight in general. Sometimes a lot of leaves make finding balls difficult and a few greens hard to putt, But...
I just love both Rancho Canada courses. All the holes are interesting and unique, with quite a few over the river. Some very hard holes. Some easy. It is just a fun course for the average golfer like myself and most my friends. Is it any of the Pebble Beach courses or Bayonet/Blackhorse? Of course not... but for the price, it is a great value and a lot of fun.
Reasonable price and alot of fun
The course was challenging but not punishing for a golfer who can stay in the fairway. The leaves , the leaves!! I left several balls somewhere on the fairway under the leaves. I will play here again but not until the trees stop decorating the fairways.
Variety of layout
I enjoy both the East and West courses at Rancho Canada because of the great variety in the layout of the course. Many of the holes cross over the Carmel River with some narrow fairways to which you are required to hit. The tall Cottonwood trees add a sweet small to the air in the autumn, while the weather in Carmel valley is idea most of the year. A gentle breeze comes up the valley from the ocean to keep the temperatures mild. You will enjoy this course!
great greens
was very cold and windy...no one on the course and had rained night before. best greens I've seen there in a while. fast and smooth!!
Great course
The east side of rancho is very fun and challenging.
Hit over the river 7 times, greens are always in great shape!
I live this place. They also have a west side which every year in December I play all 36 in one day for my bday. It makes a fun day for the average - scratch golfer. Highly recommend this course!
Very good Course
Overall, the West side played well. The greens were in decent shape and the fairways cut nicely. the bunkers need better/more sand. The cart paths were in poor condition!
This is a very good "resort type" course. Shorter par 3's and par 4's
This was a very good, tree lined course. Although, it is short, you have to be accurate with your tee and approach shots. The greens are in very good shape and relatively flat. The sand traps are well placed and in play. The rough is very fair and playable.....
$39 with a cart was a great deal for this kind of course. One of my favorite places to play in the area.
What makes Rancho Canada a great course is that it is nicely maintained and in a great setting within the Carmel Valley and around the Carmel River. While short in distance, both the East and West Courses are great and fairly challenging because of narrow fairways, an abundance of trees, and well-placed bunkers around the greens. What I like the most about the setting of both courses is how holes meander back and forth over the Carmel River, which makes the course very scenic and peaceful. The back 9 of the West Course is very close to the river on all holes and is what I would consider both my favorite 9 holes of the 36 and the most challenging 9 holes as well. Overall this course is a great deal for how scenic it is and how well-maintained it is. It is probably my favorite course to go to in the area without breaking the bank.
