Overall best deal on Golfnow.com
Rancho Canada is a well kept course with a super fun layout. The West side is more narrow than the East. Lots of tree lined fairways and a few cant be much more than 20 paces wide. The greens are rarely lightening fast but are alway true and in great shape. Played on 08/03/2013 and the greens were flat out slow due to moisture (tee time of 6;48am lots of fog), but still smooth and breaking true. I can't say enough about this super fun course. I often make the trip from San Jose. Where else can you regularly find a $40 tee time on the weekend with a cart?
hard to beat value
Get a "hot deal" on golfnow.com, and this course is an exceptional value, esp. in the summer!
Friendly staff, good golf -- just a great place to hang out
Look, I don't work for Conde Nast and I type slow, so I'll just tell you the staff is friendly, the food is great in the restaurant, the course is well-maintained and they also have an excellent practice facility. Golf her is reasonable, too -- it's an excellent value.
Not too busy on Mon and Tues
a bit windy...course in good shape...great value thru golfnow-only reason we go to the course
fun course
this is one of two offered..east is the easier of the two..but still is a great challenge..
course was fun to play
the length coupled with the layout of the course led to a very fun round
this course has challenging features
I enjoyed the layout of this course as well as the length of the course
Awesome and beautiful course!
Me and my wife were on vacation on the coast and I golfed Torrey Pines and many others over the week. This course was pristine and was so beautiful! I really enjoyed golfing the East Course, in fact enough that I golfed the same course the next day.
Great course with a spectacular view of Carmel's country. Narrow fairways made the west course challenging.

Beautiful setting in Carmel Valley. Unique big tree golf setting.
If you want affordable golf around Monterey this is it. I like both courses, East and West. See if you can score better than your handicapp.
Liked it!
Good coarse the greens and some trouble areas. But is looking better then it was earlier this year
Value is good for the fee I paid
Good value for money. Friendly staff. Greens in good condition.
Good course, fun to play, not easy.
Signage to some of the holes is not great. If you don't play the course regularly it is challenging to find some of the tee boxes.
Beautiful Surroundings, but the Course needs work, bad.
1) The Tee Boxes (literally every hole) needs to be re leveled as they are so uneven it is hard to put the tee in a spot that doesn't leave you on an uneven surface! It would take them 1 week and 1 bulldozer to level all the tee boxes and would make the course much better.
2) The Greens are bumpy and need to be punched and rolled better. VERY SLOW PUTTS. EVERYTHING IS A STRAIGHT PUTT so no point really reading too much into it.
3) The Bunkers are lacking sand. Actually they have stones and rocks in them so they may scratch your nice Vokey wedges!
4) The Trees create so many leaves, it is so hard to find your balls even for good shots, its a joke. They need to not just blow the leaves off the fairway and into the rough, but PICK THEM UP.
5) The Pace of Play is a joke too. There are no marshalls. No one is keeping players on time between slots, and there is a random beverage cart girl with the worst assortment of Gatorade, Snacks and no sandwiches.
6) Range Balls are all cut up, and either broken (I literally picked like 10 out of the bucket of 35 that were un hittable). These should all be replaced immediately as they charge at least $5.00 per buck of 35 for a small bucket. At least the range is on grass which is a plus, but plays into the wind so it is deceiving at the distances for when you get on the course.
7) The cart deposit key of $3.00 is a joke. They ask for this everytime, add it to your bill, and most folks forget about it. So you have to go park the cart in the return cart spot, walk back inside after a long round, wait in line, and then get your $3.00 back. I think they read somewhere that getting folks to walk back thru the club house past the merchandise increases sales by a %. I think it just frustrates people and makes it very annoying to have to return back and wait in line.
Besides all of the above points, which can easily be corrected if Management wanted to upgrade their facilities and increase customer retention and satisfaction, the course ambiance is beautiful and the scenery is un matched for the price in Carmel Valley. The staff is always friendly which I appreciate too.
Really nice course
The course is in really good shape although a few trees are located, in my opinion, where trees should not be located on a golf course. I will never understand why courses want to have a large tree located in the middle of a fairway. Overall, it was a very enjoyable day of golf.
Nice setting (West Course) though a little flat.
My first time playing here and it was worth the drive from Salinas.
Friendly staff and golfers. The course is well maintained but still room for improvement. Booked through GolfNow.com with a fantastic discount.
OUTSTANDING VALUE
Course in good shape. Green not fast, but rolled pretty smooth for the green speed. Sand is heavy but consistent throughout course.
MId Week Escape Amazing round
I played the East Course and the day was perfect 70 and clear with light winds. One two some in front and no one pushing from behind. The course was excellent. The course is a little short from the white tees and the grass is very healthy on the fairway and rough. The course has plenty of old trees and some overhang the fairways forcing you to either go over around or under. The greens were soft and receptive and rolled true. They will reward a good shot unlike so many courses where a good shot just bounces off the back of the green. The place is quiet no cars and the scenery is awesome. The staff was very cool. I came over an hour from san jose and it was worth it. A yellow ball is a good idea as the rough in some areas it is hard to find a white ball. Watch for golden bears.
West course ok
Golf cart require better maintenance. First cart was not charged and quit on the first hole. The starter was miserable and rude in providing us a second cart. The second cart by the turn had a low rear tire.
