Had a great day!
Wonderful way to spend 4th of July with my cousin Marcy and friend Wayne!!!
Superb value.
Beautiful and well designed course. Ideal place to escape the heat wave while the rest of Bay Area was being cooked. Great bang for the buck.
its a great course to play
The tee boxes are rough. the greens are nice and can be a tough read . Over the Carmel river threw the woods makes for a beautiful setting but tight fairways.
Conditions were very good; greens had a few ball maks which I fixed...if only other golfers would fix AT LEAST one ball mark on every green!!
Played the East course and got around in just about 4 hours and played a second ball a few times. Course was in good condition, both fairways and greens. Pro shop staff was very friendly. Great value as we booked a tee time for $32 thru GolfNow.com
Excellent Value
Good course for the money. Front nine has some holes that test distance control, and back nine can test shot making ability. Putting is a good test here on most holes . Trees in play on most holes. Some water but not a problem for most holes.
Very nice course with nice features
They were a little behind schedule due to a tournament, okay for us it was leisure versus someone trying to keep a schedule and starting about 1/2- 3/4 hour late
Good value
Overall the course is in good condition. Some of the shrubs need some trimming, ESP. The ones over the river. Greens were "hairy" but rolled true. The fairways for the most part were smoother than the cart paths. They def. need some re-surfacing! Definitely worth playing!!
Other Monterey/Carmel Courses are More Enjoyable than this one.
We were recommended this course (Canada-West Course) from another golf outing in Seaside. The Course Starter was very unfriendly and barked at us as to which cart we needed to use after we were told to select any one from the pro shop. The cart we were asked to use had cigarette butts and wrappers. The cart was not cleaned after the prior use.
From a distance, the course looks nice, but the fairways have several brown spots and the greens were not smooth. Very nice views from some places on the course and the back nine was beautiful.
The course has no marshall patrolling and we found two groups of walkers cut in front of us from other holes which caused us to wait. Despite that fact, he course played very fast. A few holes on the back 9 (especially #14) are not well marked, tees were not lined up and the fairways had so much growth that it was difficult to find the distance markers to the green.
I would recommend several other courses over this one. We played seven different courses during our trip to Monterey and this course by far was the least desirable.
great location
Good golf course. Good price. I played on a Sunday (Farther's Day) and there were a lot of maintace workers out. I had to wait for them to get off the green in some areas and then they sit there with the motor running. a little distracting.
Wonderful track
I love Rancho Canada East. This is such a great course with plenty of variety in beautiful surroundings. If it didn't take me 1-1/4 hours each way to drive there, I would play it a bunch more. As it is, I have probably made the trek 8 or so times, in the last couple of years. Some holes are wide open with lots of ways to play them. Others have forced carries over the creek. Many have sand to collect both errant drives and poor approach shots. None of the holes are really unfair, but a couple have very narrow windows to hit a tee shot through and #15 is the longest par 4 I have ever played (dogleg 436yd from the white tees). Most of the holes are quite pleasant and fun with lots of variety. Beautiful view from the excellent clubhouse bar. No doubt I will be back before long.
A very ;nice moderate course.
I played the East Course. There are a couple of challenging holes which will get the average weekend golfer in trouble. One par three which is noramally 204 yards across a creek with three sand traps surrounding the green. It has a very narrow window for one to get the ball onto the green. Also a par five which has a large tree in the middle of the fairway, and you must play your ball down what I call a tunnel. Large trees on either side of the fairway from approximately 150 yeards out.
Best value on the Monterey Penisula
Living, working and playing on the Monterey Peninsula, Rancho Canada has the greatest value if you want to play a lot of golf without going broke. Challenging course and great practice area. Very hard to beat.
Very fun course, great setting
We really enjoyed our round. We played the "West" course. Interesting course without being massively difficult. Beautiful setting in the Carmel Valley along the (right now dry) Carmel River. Course was in beautiful condition with mostly really nice greens and tee boxes. Greens were mostly pretty flat or mildly sloped. Really want to play it again, seemed like a pretty high end course at a reasonable cost
Course layout is interesting and challenging, especially the back 9. However, it is poorly maintained.
Course layout is interesting with some blind shots and many doglegs. However, the course is poorly maintained - fairways have lots of weeds and the greens are very bumpy. The cart paths have potholes and our cart almost ran out of power.
Challenging course - OK length from blue tees
We arrived late due to traffic. I called the pro shop and they said no problem - we'll get you out when you get here. Playing on the weekend in 4 hours was great. Fairways and Greens in great shape. Only problem was the sand traps. They need more sand.
Awesome course
Beautiful course and a great value. One of the best courses on the peninsula, hands down.
good location freindly staff corse needs work on greens
ok staff friendly fair price greens could use sometlc bt other thanthat ok
The course was fun to play.
The course was in pretty good shape, with a few green in need of work. Sand traps seemed to be hard and crusty.
Had a great day.
Course is friendlyand fun to play, but not easy. It is well maintained, especially fo a public course.
