Great despite creek location.
Robert Muir Graves is a noted golf architect.
He was delt a bad hand at woodcreek Note 11th 13th at woodcreek. vernal pools. At Cherry Island
The original 1st and 10th holes were
incumbered because the Dry Creek Relocation was not allowed by dogmatic environmental concerns.
Relocation would have made the 10th and 1st great Par 4 s with the creek moved to the south.
This course has grass driving range
Hard to find grass driving range in a public course.
Better than a muni
Cherry island is more challenging than a muni course with more hazards to deal with. Excellent for beginners transitioning over to intermediate. The course was in good condition for February. There were some tee boxes where the stance was off kilter. Love the lay out and definitely will play again.
Slow - Slow - Slow
Don’t get an afternoon t-time because I’ve experience a 6 hour round out there before. The Marshalls don’t get paid they volunteer so the Pro in charge most likely won’t fire them for how poorly they do their job keeping the course moving on time. But that’s not the worse thing. Many of the t-boxes were set up where it was just dirt and they have been hitting from that area since last year and not picking a better area. I decided to hit from where there was grass instead of dirt just to clear my mind so I wasn’t frustrated and focus more on hitting a good drive instead. Next time I’ll take pictures so you can see how bad the golf course maintenance people do there job so poorly
They should be fired and replaced for how stupid they are
Great winter course
One of the best draining courses after rain. Play here while other courses are still recovering.
Greens in great shape.
Found the course to weather January storms well.
Greens rolled nice with good speed.
Fairways tight and firm. Tees and fairways could use seeding in places.
Drained hazards need debri and leaf removal.
Always a good test.
Broken ball washers and no water
Broken and dirty ball washers. No water on the course. Fairways could be better. Greens are nice.
The water-saving faucets in the restrooms should actually be called Anti-water-saving faucets. If you press the lever down the water runs for 45 seconds or more and there is no way to stop it, it will take it's time wasting water. Money for these should be spend else where to improve the course.
A Great Public Course
We played in January, only about a week after the last of the storms that went through. Naturally, the course is in winter condition, especially the bunkers. That's to be expected. It was a beautiful, sunny day, and the course played really well. It's in very good shape for January.
