Cherry Island Golf Course

Had a nice group, fun, good conversation. Only my second time here, really enjoyed the first time. Second go around you really realized the quirkiness of the course. Some really off holes. Layout is very typical published muny. Lots of crossover type holes, size by side, lots of incoming! Haha

Might be better during the week? 5 hours with a bad back is just too much for me.

Showed up for our tee time and a shotgun tournament was still on the course which made our tee off 30 minutes. They were completely out of carts. They should not have made tee times available to book when they knew a tournament would be on going. Greens were a little chewed up. Definitely could have been better.

Car path too many potholes. No golf ball wisher on many holes. Pace too slow because allow one player to play alone. Green has many dry spots.

It was plugged and sanded a few days ago. Still needs a couple of weeks 😫 before playing

I've played Cherry Island Golf Course over the years when I visit family in Sacramento. The staff are always friendly and helpful. The course is in great shape although this time the greens had been aerated recently. They offered a reduced greens fee because of the aeration.

I played at cherry island last week. I was told I was playing in a foursome but there was nobody at the tee at the starting time. Apparently they left early for to the starter disappearing. I have never planned this, there are very few yard markers, and some shots are hard to calculate. This was kind of annoying but I normally enjoy the chance to play alone, so that’s not my main complaint. I bought two beers at the turn, but when I got home I realized I had been charged for something else. I have called the course multiple times to leave voicemails for the GM but I haven’t received a call back yet. I highly do not recommend going to this course.

I do not understand the lack of pride in owning a golf course that just accepts signage on the holes that are probably 50 years old, some half ripped, some spray painted with graffiti. The sand traps have one inch of raked sand that makes them appear to be playable, but with hard packed soil underneath, good luck. The rest of the maintenance of the course was OK.

Its bs if you have to pay for a cart to then have to share it..if thats the case charge me half the cost of the cart then. Supposedly done because it was busy but on the T they send out a 2some?
