Cherry Island is a challenging course very reasonably priced. It is in good condition and fun to play.

This has to be the longest round of golf i have ever played and hope to never do again. Five hours plus!

Hidden Gem
If you go to a golf course with a high value on “fancy facilities”, then maybe this course isn’t attractive. However, if you go to a golf course to experience great golf and a challenging, but fair playing experience, this course is highly underrated and should be high up on your list of tracks in the Sacramento Area . The fairways are in great shape and the greens are rolling really well, despite weekend hackers leaving their ball marks. One of my favorite courses in the city.

Pace of play
First off the positive, the course was in the best shape I’ve played at Cherry in a while. The greens were rolling very nice. Tee boxes were pretty solid and the bunkers had good sand.
The negative, 5 hour round. We had to call for a marshal by the fourth hole due to a 3 group backup. A very nice lady tried to tell us it was just a lot of groups out, but common golf knowledge lets you know someone isn’t playing to pace.
