Rustic Canyon Golf Course

Was very concerned that the Staff were not wearing masks, nor were they behind plastic sheeting. If you go over to River Ridge, which is the same county, the staff are behind plastic sheeting and they wear masks and gloves.

And people just don’t seem to care about distancing. The bathroom here only has an air dryer!!!! How hilarious is that in these times. Blowing the bad air and virus air everywhere.

Anyways, the course is about the same as always. Greens were firm but a tad slow. There’s plenty of greenery on fairways and the tees. Still think it’s way overpriced for what it is. There’s hardly any maintenance done to the bunkers as is, and there’s barely any rough to speak of. I guess they have to use more water because the fairways are gigantic and the green area with the flat belt around it need to be maintained. But other than that it’s way overpriced so it’s always way over rated in my opinion. If the price was $25 cheaper I’d say top notch, but for what it is, it’s highway robbery, especially when you go down the street it’s much cheaper to play at those other courses.

Walked Rustic Canyon for $21 at 2PM, wow what a bargain. Honestly this course is amazing and the conditions were awesome. If you really appreciate a well designed golf course you will be very please, it is so unique and interesting like nothing you can find in the LA area. The whole course was in great shape, only small negatives were the tee boxes were a little chewed up and the bunkers weren't great but most courses right now are like this due to the amount of play and the lack of rakes on courses. The best thing is the price of this place, cant't beat it and I was able to appreciate the course a lot more by walking it. The scenery was beautiful, so quite and peaceful and didn't feel like I was only 30 minutes from downtown LA. Clubhouse looked really nice, staff was friendly. Overall 5 stars, absolutely must play and amazing experience for under $25, well worth the drive.

Walking course was hard for me mostly back nine ,Having a physical problem makes this very hard . not recommending if you have knee problems, otherwise good to play it.

I start out by saying, I really enjoy playing this course; BUT…

I’m really confused and irritated about electric carts not being allowed; not even for a single rider, like many other courses are doing, effectively and safely. I suffer from a blood clot in my left calve; and, one in my brain. Yes, really, in my brain. Because of this “policy”; or, whatever it is, electric carts are not allowed. I had to stop short and played only 9-holes. You can imagine why. My question is, what possible medical, scientific, COVID-19, believable and, or, reasonable explanation could there by not permitting electric carts? Especially in light of those courses that are allowing there use.

Again, I do enjoy Rustic! I just think this decision is unnecessary and does some harm and strong inconvenience to those who really could use them.

1. I wore a mask in the proshop to check in. The starter had NO MASK. That is totally inappropriate during this pandemic, danger to all customers.

2. On your web site indicates that you can rent ride carts, but when I check in I found out no ride carts. Westlake Golf Course rents carts, one to a cart. Why do you miss lead your customers that way.

Walked the Blues (6634/72.0/130 in 4H, 45M mid day. Pleasure to be paired up with Ben and Chris, good golfers and nice guys. POP great on the front, we waited practically every shot on the back. We played behind a 5some that definitely was running out of steam on the back in sunny, windy conditions in the high 70's. $49 a little steep to walk on a weekday.

Love the large greens with mowed down aprons on this course. I remember when Rustic first opened, it was SO different than almost any other course in So Cal. First round here is several years, felt like sitting down and catching up with an old friend.

New Blue tee on #6 since the last time I played here makes a huge difference. Hit a 9 iron today, usually #6 from the old Blues was a 4 iron for me.

Tees were punched this morning. Did not affect play, they were decently maintained.

Fairways cut close and were firm.

Rough better than i remember here. Not tall, but it was more consistent than I remember previously.

Greenside Sand traps had okay sand but did not look like they had been raked in awhile. Waste bunkers are usually hard packed and have plenty of rocks in them.

Greens were as I remembered. Firm, medium to medium fast and several holes you just cannot be above the hole.

COVID-19: Walking only, noodles in the bottom of the cups allowed the ball to go in. No bathrooms @ the clubhouse, they required premade tee times.

Customer service very good, they worked me in before my tee time with the 2some. Cart gal around several times. Conditions just good, far from great. However, IMO, Rustic is a must play experience if you are in the northern L.A. area just because of the nuiances and different feel from 98% of So Cal courses. Recomended.

Every year we have spent weeks golfing all over Scotland. At home, we find Rustic Canyon to be the course most reminiscent of Scottish links courses here in Southern California. The layout, the bunkers, and imagining that the ocean is just over the bluff make it so. Now, if on,y the staff would try on a brogue! Just love this place!

My favorite course. Very well maintained. One of the best courses in so cal.

Arrived at the course after a long drive and was told I didn’t have a tee time. Showed the staff my confirmation email and was told he would “try to work us in.” When I expressed my frustration I was told “well I could just tell you tough luck since you’re not on the sheet you should just leave” by the same staff. Nice attitude. We did get out and the course very enjoyable. Good shape, tough greens. Loved the playing experience. Not the rest.

First time playing this course and loved it. Generous fairways with fast greens. Pace of play was alright, took 5 hours to walk 18 in foursome. Cart lady came around a few times and kept us hydrated. Will play again.

Please re consider the max capacity and for this time maybe reduce it due social distancing most of the groups were wit 6 players.

This was the first weekend since the partial lifting of public heath orders. I expected it to be busy but didn’t appreciate being placed into a foursome without my notification. I’ve never played this course before and was not given a no nor scorecard when checking in. The course wasn’t well marked nor had tee boxes. I didn’t appreciate the pressure and negative critiques by other players waiting for me to finish playing- I came out to play a leisurely 18 holes; not compete in the US Open! Beautiful course but the sit, envy and players attitudes spoiled it
