ONE Of my favorite courses in LA
I love this course so much I commute an hour to get there! Rates are affordable and course is in great shape. A must play in Moorpark.
Excellent from tee to green
Great course. Required decision making from the tee on most every hole. Rewarded bold shots with better approaches, but gave the mis-hit a chance to recover and avoid big numbers. The only poor conditions I recall were the first 40 yards off the tee boxes or on the edges of a few fairways (60 yard wide fairway, so what are you doing over there anyways!). A must play for anyone that values golf course architecture. A must play even before you factor in the price!
Best value in SoCal
This course is such a great value. Here is a learning curve to understanding that everything breaks towards the enterance gate but once you learn that this course is both challenging and fair. When in the valley this course should not be missed.
A little rough right now
I played here last summer and thought it was a really fun and well maintained course. Unfortunately now it's in rough shape, or at least it looks that way with dormant fairway grass. Despite it being a holiday weekend with lots of beginners on the course they put the pins in absolutely ridiculous places. We had a 5:10 round, 30 minutes of which flowed directly from the two groups ahead of us 3, 4 and 5 putting. On #9 they put the hole on a tiny shelf on top of a shelf in the back left of the green. Despite the slow play there were no marshals to be seen.
Probably a good idea to go elsewhere until the spring.
Waste of Money
Course is in bad condition. Fairways hard and dry. Bunkers have no sand in them. Staff is rude. Never going to play here again.
Great Layout
Great course conditions with the reclaimed water taking effect.
One of the best public layouts near LA, period.
Play it...NOW.
The clowns mouth & windmill
The course needs more water make the rough rough and soften up the greens not that great at holding the ball hit shots at green they either roll way past and never stop ( coming in with high shots ) thicker rough around the greens to stop ball before it rolls into hazards. The layout is good but not short game friendly soften up greens would help speed play. Average golfer not that friendly u almost need to have every short game shot there is and be an expert at them all. Could be a fun course make it playable for all golfers. And give more deals to make affordable to all not that great a course for the money they charge.
Tricky greens
The course is very challenging.
You need to play it a few times to know where to hit ball for safety.
The undulating greens are incredibly difficult. Speed and knowing where to aim is crucial.
John's Rustic C Review
Arrived with my wife and son 30 mins early. Went to range. Nice range facility but I was told that a single would be joining us. I went into the pro shop to discuss this and was told that since this was a Golf Now purchase that the empty seat had to be filled.
This Course is a driving and putting course. Huge greens but putting is very difficult. I mean like 4 putts on a par 4. The course was in good shape but not my type of course. This Course comes off my must come back list.
300 yard drives down wind 260 yd 3 wood!!
nice course wide fairways good.greens nice but to fast 13-14 or more. bring your Texas wedge you may have a 60 yd putt .staff so so.asked to share cart midweek.
Not recommend to anyone.
It took dreadfully long, we played at 11:50am and barely finished 16 holes. Fairways were average and greens were very slow.
Slow Play
Did not notice any Marshals to help with pace of play, Starter not real frendly, Cart barn a little confusing, Golf course in great shape!
Good value
Always been a very good track. Good condition. Went as a single and met up with a nice threesome... Unfortunately, the group in front if us must have had some big bets going, because they were on every green for 10-15 minutes...
Good Bang for your Buck
4.5 / 5, didn't want to rate only 4 stars :).
The course was in good shape - great fairways and nice greens. Friendly staff... We played in about 4 hours 45 min and only waited at 1 or 2 par 3's. The pin locations were very difficult and punishing if approach shots weren't on point. Me and my buddies are happy to travel from LA to this course and we will be back.
Course overview
Course in great shape. Very difficult for 1st time players here. Back 9 especially. Greens are fast. Approach shots hard to hold on greens. Lots of trouble. Sand not so good. Better for a single digit handicap.
Great value!
The course was in great shape. Great value for the money.
Carts are in good shape.
The fairways were in good shape, the greens were quick 11-12 and difficult pin position for the most part.
It was hard to get the correct pace on the putts as the pins were placed near a slope or near the top of the slope. 2 putts were very acceptable, most of my partners were 3 putting every green
