Overall, the course met our expectations.
Played on Veterans Day, staff were great and very accommodating. Always a good time at Diablo Grande.
Great Course
Course was great. Friendly staff. Just wished I would have brought a print out of the course layout. They don't provide one. It was my first time playing the course so my group had to shoot some blind shots.
Worth the drive
From where I live in Tracy, it's about the same drive to DG as it is to Poppy Ridge, Las Positas, the Brentwood courses, and The Reserve at Spanos Park. I prefer DG, particularly the Ranch Course due to the level of challenge, course quality, variety of terrain, cost, and pace of play. My favorite of those mentioned.
Outstanding Value...
Fun course to play. Interesting layout w/ some nice elevated tees and dog legs. Greens were in great shape.
Beautiful challanging course
Great challanging course. Rate of play was very slow and it was a busy day. Overall really beautiful course with great views.
Excellent
Played the Ranch course. In great shape as always. Can't be the price for a private like course and atmosphere. Definitely would recommend.
great value for what we paid.
The course was in good shape. There are two lay up holes. A short par 4 on hole #3, and a long par 5 on # 12. # 1 starts on top off a hill with a great view, while you work your way down for the other 8. On the start of the back nine, again, you climb up another hill with a better view . I enjoyed the layout of the course. Each hole was different .
would play there any time.great test for all your skills
Either course is great to play, but the Ranch is my favorite.
Good golf to break up drive home
I had to drive home from the Sacramento area to So. Cal. during the week, so why not break up the drive with a round of golf. I ended up going out alone on a weekday and there were not a lot of players on the course. I hit two foursomes that let me through with no fuss, and I played the round in just over 3 hours (not rushing at all). A foursome would probably need at least 4 and a half.
The Ranch Course is pretty and challenging without being too difficult. The greens were slow but in good shape. Some of the fairways were a bit bare, but not too bad. The greens are tough as they break towards the valley, but it is not always easy to figure out where the valley is. Overall, a worthwhile place to visit, about 15 minutes or so off the I5, about two hours south of Sacramento or San Francisco.
From the blues this course requires accurate tee shots!
Course plays pretty tough from the blue tees, good shot placement and club selection make this course challenging and enjoyable to play!
Great value for the money
This is second time I played this course and just like the first I am just as challenged, frustrated with my game but would not have traded this to any good day at work. I sure am looking forward to my next game here.
Great course if you don't mind a drive to get there
I have heard much about Diablo Grande from locals, the course was well maintained. I played the ranch course, the only issue I had was my scorecard was for the "Legends" course. The yardages were well marked on the course so it wasn't that bad, just had to guess if I was hitting to a good spot for next shot. 621 yard par 5 was a challenge. With no cell reception my app for yardages did not work either.
Challenging in very good condition.
Great course very challenging not backed up very good pace.
Great course, very tough
This was my second time playing this course and it is one of my favorites. The course was in great shape and the greens were rolling very true and very quick. The course has a nice mix of holes ranging from short par 4's and challenging par 3's to a couple of tough par 5's that can bring out doubles and triples. I have played this course twice with large discounts on golf now deals but even at the base price it is a GREAT course for the money!
Beautiful But a Beast
I woke up at 8am yesterday, Sunday, and started perusing for available tee times and found one at Diablo Grande in Patterson, 82 miles away from me, down I-5. I thought why not and stretch the legs of the BMW 535i. It was a great decision. The course is in fantastic shape. Very difficult, especially from the tips as I played from the black (7,000 yds and 141 slope). The greens can be a tad faster but looking good. The whole course is looking good and some of the views are beautiful. The pace was awesome on a Sunday mid-day at 90*.
A long drive from the Bay Area
But worth the trip for the golf enthusiast. Two very challenging courses set in the hills south of Patterson (home of the excellent Stevinson Ranch to give you an idea of where it is located) The Ranch course reminded me a little of another Bay Area staple, Coyote Creek in San Jose. The greens were very good, rolled true and were soft enough that if you landed, you stuck. I'd recommend you take your foursome out there for a weekend. There are some motels nearby in Westley and all along Hwy 5 but to my knowledge no lodging on site. Still, as I said, well worth the trip for a great day of golf.
Troon courses are always fun to play!
I do have a gripe however, It was 100 degrees and there was no water on the back nine - very uncomfortable. Also, when I was sitting at the bar re-hydrating this guy from the course maintenance staff was standing there in his wife beater shirt flirting with the gal behind the bar. Loud, kind of obnoxious and very unprofessional. Very out of place for such a nice place. Thanks for the round, in spite of it all I had a nice time.
Great track
Go try it new carts great value new carts everyone helpful
This is my favorite course in the Modesto area.
Diablo Grande has done a great job in maintaining what I think is the best course in the area. The greens and fairways were immaculate. The geens were fast but soft. The course was well marked which made it easy to find the next hole. What I think sets Diablo Grande apart from all the other courses is the resort like feel. The first thing I noticed when I arrived was how quiet it was. From the entrance to the vineyard or the well maintained landscape to a staff that made me feel special, it all added up to feeling like I was at a resort.
Good course, narrow, uncrowded
I played at 9:30 on a Friday, alone, in 2.5 hours, for $49. I was amazed that nobody else was on the course. I saw more deer than people.
The tee shots are narrow, the bunkers are a bit chunky, the fairways are nice, and the greens are smooth.
Some holes are totally isolated in the woods, while others are adjacent to houses.
I played the Legends course in the afternoon, in 4.5 hours. It's a bit wider, easier, and more interesting, but also more crowded.
Considering only the course, I'd play the Legends again. But considering playing time, I'd prefer the Ranch.
