San Vicente Golf Resort

Great course in the middle of nowhere east or San Diego. Beautiful course with lakes and huge trees, definitely needs a couple of rounds before you can beat the course. The only complaint is that the greens are really slow, I ended up 3-putting a lot of holes, not used to such slow greens.

First time here. Excellent conditions. Worth the drive from point Loma. Greens and fairways in great shape. Come out and play this course.

The golf course is really in great shape. One of the few courses left in Southern California with actual rough you must play out of when you miss the fairway. If you can make the drive up I highly recommend playing here.

Worth the drive! Lush Conditions, great greens. They are working on some reclamation projects but it is being done very professionally. Course conditions were fantastic, very green, defined cuts and greens that rolled perfect. Would come back again, first 5 star rating for me..

1st time playing this course. Nice and green. Played the white tees. 6228 yards. They had a landscaping co. doing all the non playing surfaces and boy is it going to look good. Greens like felt, but were they fast. We all had a tough time holding the green and stopping putts. Wish I lived closer to play more often.

I can't say enough good things about San Vicente. Ted Robinson created a fun place to play that's scenic and inviting. The turf removal program scheduled to be completed by the end of the summer should only enhance the course beauty, replacing 18 1/2 acres of grass with mulch and native plants. Any initiative to save on water costs shows forward thinking by management. A handful of rebuilt, lined ponds and natural wetlands are the biggest obstacles besides the trees and bunkers. There's no signature hole, but there's no bad hole, either. It's just a solid round from start to finish.

Firstly, the course is well-maintained and fun to play.

Unfortunately, golfers and tee-times are poorly managed. Fivesomes on Saturday morning make no one happy. A sixsome (I'm not kidding) makes a golfer angry. Ten minutes behind on tee times before 7:00 is...well, you have to try hard to make that happen. Moreover, locals/members often insert themselves in gaps on the course when they don't think that doing so will bother anyone...much. The pro shop has a laissez-fair attitude about all of this which makes playing here a frustrating experience.

Beautiful course - some replanting going on, but never in our way! Great setting and a really wonderful way to spend a day! Hamburgers at the snack bar were excellent! A good happy hour menu upstairs finished the day with an amazing view to boot!

Today had to be the longest wait I ever played...at any course. Can you say overbooked? It took almost three hours to complete the first nine holes!!!! No Marshall in sight . While we were waiting for our tee time, we watched a foursome take 30 minutes to finish the par 4 -18th!! 30 Minutes!

I will give Mgt a mulligan today. Hopefully, they will read this and work on keeping the pace of play manageable.

While this course is somewhat out of the way it is a very good value. The fairways and greens are in good condition which is the exception based on how the drought has affected other courses in the area. They recently converted a weed infested marsh into a pond and are currently doing major work to convert large areas that rarely come into play from sod to low water plants and mulch. The end result should be a great visual and water saving improvement and management should be commended.

On a perfect afternoon we played San Vicente. Staff greeted us cordially when we arrived and we very friendly with helping us with our questions. The course is very well maintained and the new landscaping changes they are making will be wonderful. The course was full that day of other golfers enjoying the spectacular day, so it was somewhat slow. But we look forward to coming back.

I got this tee time on a Hot Deal. 40 minute drive for me from near Del Mar. Awesome weather. The course was in real good shape. The greens had be aerated but had almost fully recovered. They rolled pretty well and were surprisingly fast. I checked in, got a few range balls (the range is small though-length wise) and was called to the tee about 30 minutes early. That would be my only complaint. Did not get to finish at the range and did not hit any putts. Played with 3 others and had a good time.

The course was in excellent condition. It is undergoing improvements which did not interfere with play. One of out favorite San Diego courses.

Nice course and layout, too bad California isn't getting enough rain. The Golf courses here need it. Ground is very firm. Can't stop a ball on the greens. Club house very nice great food, cold beverages and great staff. Will come back next year. Out on Vacation from PA.

Always enjoy this course. The course is in great shape and the staff is very friendly.
The rough is tough!

We played on Tuesday with a 730 t-time and was very pleased with the pace of play. It was such a good time that I had my wife come up and we stayed at the resort for two nights and played again on Wednesday.

Took 5 hours behind a five some, nobody around to do anything about it. Also the two some behind us hit into us twice as we waited for the green to clear.
Course was in reasonable condition but a lot of unfixed ball marks on the green.

This course is a top play. It is in great condition and well kept. We will add this course to our regular rotation.
