About
San Vicente Golf Resort sprawls across lush rolling hills in Ramona, though it is conveniently only 20 minutes from San Diego's many attractions. Situated in the Valley of the Sun, the golf course boasts scenic views of the surrounding mountains as well as temperate weather for most of the year. Ted Robinson designed the layout, utilizing the natural contours and features of the terrain. The golf course only measures to 6,633 yards from the back tees but it seems to play much longer because of the elevation changes throughout, which range from subtle to dramatic. The undulating nature of the landscape gives each hole a unique character. No two holes even vaguely resemble one another on this layout. San Vicente is not only for golfers though, there are also lighted tennis courts, two equestrian centers, and a year-round heated pool.

has potential
Unfortunately this course has been affected by the dry conditions of the area. The ball ran a lot in the fairway and had a hard time holding onto the green. Sand traps were great to work with! Course would be challenging any way, but the dry conditions really made it a challenge. Being unfamiliar with course cost us a few extra strokes, but still a good time. Because the ball ran so much, we had a hard time finding our balls. A 240 yard drive could be found 280 out! And you definitely want to stay below the hole. Greens were fast! Once you got the touch though, they were pretty true.
Renovation successful!
Ever since the renovation, San Vicente has had as good as greens as any public course in San Diego County. No need to join a country club if you can play here! Overall conditions elsewhere on the course are spectacular as well. Really recommend you put a sign outside the pro shop listing the Stimpmeter reading every day. I would estimate it was between 11 and 11.5 on 1/20/2025 when we played. Most good players would find that fascinating.
Traces of what it probably was
Good layout, can tell that it was a good course at one point in the past but definitely is not anymore. Dry conditions , no difference between the rough and the fairway. Greens extremely hard. Balls bouncing vertical as if you were playing to a cart path.

Okay golf course
The course layout was good and the greens were definitely challenging. Very dried out course and poorly marked in course directions and colors on the tee markers.
Great hidden gem
This course was in such great shape and the greens were great too. The wind does make a difference. Also, please help keep it in good condition by fixing the divots. Have fun playing it.

Nice layout. The fairways were dead as winter seeding had not grown. Enjoyed our round. Would play the course again but would not pay the fees until course conditions have improved.
Great course
Super fun track, pace of play was great, greens roll fast and true making it super fun. There’s pretty views in the whole course and you’ll even see some turkeys!
