Rio Vista Golf Club

This was a very well laid out course but unfortunately was borderline unplayable because of the conditions. Not a single one of the sand traps is playable out of. If you hit into a bunker, save your self a drop outside onto the fairway. The bunkers were filled with water and weeds as were most of the fairways. My other problem was, as a single golfer, the pace was painfully slow. Mostly foursomes, so jumping into a group is a no go. They also pile tee times on top of each other, which leads to major congestion. This is a last ditch effort course if you can’t book anywhere else.

Course has a whole lot of character especially from the tips. Greens are the truest thru 18 I have played this year. Fairways are good for the most part when you find them. Bunkers are under repair but so are all of when you have that guy in your group. Looking forward to playing again cause I had trouble off the tee and want redemption. In my opinion it was a lot more fun and challenging than Diablo Creek Brentwood and lone tree.

The weather was perfect and that’s all. The T-Boxes were poor, the fairways not so good, the bunkers were full of weeds and debris.

A horrible mess.

worse conditioned course i have played this year. sand traps are full of weeds, fairways brown full of weeds and barely any grass. would not provide a score card or pencil and golf shop closed. only worthwhile thing of this course, decent slow greens. was warned about the terrible conditions at this course but had hoped it had passed and it would worthwhile to try it. i was wrong. never again unless it was free and thats still stretching it.

This course keeps going down. Bunkers with no sand and full of weeds! I mean, all bunkers! Used to be one of my favorite course to play but just went downhill. I hope management make some improvement! Without local players, I don’t think anyone really come here to play anymore! Trilogy should really start looking at these concerns or does anyone read the comments? Might as well close it down totally if you’re not going to maintain it!

Course is in terrible shape. There was NO SAND in the SAND traps. Fairway had patches of grass and dirt. I won’t be playing this course until they fix the course up

Afraid I'll need to visit next year and not next week. Lost four balls in bunkers that have 3' tall weeks in abundance can't even go in there to look. I mean nasty weeds. Tee boxes can be fixed and are playable though nasty looking. They are doing what they can with limited funds. I check next year.

Haven’t played Rio for a few years. Unbelievable how bad conditions were. It’s too bad. It’s a really neat lay out. Some challenging holes. Greens were really good but fairways beat, tee boxes were horrible and the bunkers were the worst I’ve ever seen. Hoping new owners get it back to what it use to be. I’ll give it another try in 2021 if they get it under control.

Steady in redevelopment. Greens doing very well, fairways are being worked on. Next up should be the tee areas. On the way to being destination golf for the bay area again.

From what I’d seen course was in bad shape. So we tried it and it was night and day. Looks great out there. There doing a phenomenal

Job bringing it back! This place is not going to crap,, this place is totally being revamped. Tees need work, stay out of the traps , tees will come back, FWS playing super fast ( and green) and greens lookin really good just a tad soft but that’s fine. Overall hot day but had fun and will b back soon! Thanks rio vista staff

I thought I’d give it a try. I see the staff out on the course working on the bunkers which I heard were so bad. I’m going to use 5/10 as average on this rating. Greens 8/10. Healthy and medium firmness. . Fairways 5/10. The tee boxes are 4/10. The bunkers are in disrepair at this time but again I saw staff on the course working on this during my round. Just based on the greens I’d okay it again. The average hole is nice and wide in the hitting area off the tee. The greens have good character. I think they could fill in Several of the sand traps as I think there are too many for this design. Which would save the member/owners some money.

The pace of play was good as I was the first one out. The greens are in great shape, but don’t hit into the sand traps the weeds are so long that you may loss your ball.

Not a good experience in any way. From beginning to end!

Until they rethink what they are offering by way the golf and other things I won't be back!!

Wanted to play the course, since my family lives in the community. The condition of the course was horrible. Frank the marshal was overbearing and the gate attendant was rude to one of the guys in my group. The bunkers were the most disappointing of anything where they looked like that hadn't been tended to in years.

A 25mph windy but beautiful day for a good round of golf. New owners made some improvements but still a long way to go to return to the old beautiful course in the early 2000-07. Greens are the most improved but the bunkers and the tee boxes need urgent repair. They are not much playable. Pro shop has adequate merchandise and the staff are very friendly and professional.

All bunkers are full of vegetation! That’s all I need to say.

DO NOT PLAY THIS COURSE. It is in the worst condition of any course that I have ever played. The locals said that the management company that used to run the course ran it into the ground. ALL fairways are brown and dirt. Looks like it hasn't been watered in months. Greens were good and well kept. The locals bought out the old management company and hired a new one. But in my opinion this course will not be playable for a couple of years.
