Rio Vista Golf Club

I live in Trilogy and play most of my there. The previous owners turn it to crap, but it’s coming back, albeit, slowly. The greens are mostly in excellent condition. The bunkers and tee areas are horrid. Local rule, if ball goes in bunker that is unplayable, and many area, take the ball out, move to a playable area, no closer to hole and continue. Fairways are coming back. Again, roll the ball for a decent lie. The layout is terrific and challenging Give it a Go.

I have been playing golf for over 50 years and this course is in the worst condition than any course I have ever played. Everyone explained that the previous course management company did little or no course maintenance. The homeowners association there bought the course from them and have turned it over to another management company. They promised that the course would be returned to great playing condition next year. That is to be seen.

About 90% of all fairway grass was dead and the rest was brown or just dirt. Only a couple of tee boxes had any grass on it and were mostly dirt. All traps were to be played as ground under repair as they were just weed beds Most areas out of the fairways were just weed patches.

I would not recommend this course to anyone for at least a couple of years in my opinion. There is just too much catch up to do to be ready next year.

And as for value for the Golf Now price, sorry to say, I would say it is terrible because of the course condition.

And I was somewhat embarrassed as I took 2 of my golfing friends that have never played this course before only to find it in such "poor condition" as they kept saying.

It was very sad to see this usually pristine course denigrate to it's current state.

The course is rumored to be near bankruptcy and that would explain a lot!! It's dead everywhere you look. Fairways have dried dead grass with huge patched of bare cracked earth and weeds! I lost several balls that were in play and ones that were found I had to take relief and look for some grass in fairways. It's shame because this was a very nice course not long ago!

It's absolutely horrid now. The staff are not overly friendly either.

I would not play it again, period!

Had been looking forward to playing here after driving by many times and seeing pictures but the course has been left to go to weeds, worst condition course I've seen that costs more than $5. Even the pro told us to expect to disappointed when we checked in. Only saving grace is that greens are in ok shape but fairways and tee boxes are non existent, worse than playing in your backyard. Some holes are difficult to even navigate because you can't tell where fairway/rough/water etc. Is. Bunkers are just rocks, dirt and weeds.

Supposedly it's being sold and will be refurbished but there's no excuse for the condition, don't play here until it's fixed.

Couldnt even find a patch of green grass in the fairway. Cigarette butt would of set the whole coarse on fire. Greens were greener but very slow

Went and played this golf course today and they had a 90 degree rule on the whole course but it was dry and hard . Grass was either dead and short or long and weeds and you couldn’t find or follow your ball because of this . It’s like the course has no grounds crew . Bunkers are hard pan or mud .sad to see golf courses in such conditions

The whole course was pretty much garage. Keep up at all.

Overall just a bad day of golf. Anything not hit on the fairway is as good as gone and if you do hit the fairway aim for the green patches. If you hit the dry stuff your ball will roll a mile. The course at one point was clearly top of the line and the layout is fairly challenging. But when you add the fact that some of the surfaces are unplayable it makes any good golfer add 10 to their score.

Conditions were dry and windy. Also, grounds crew seemed to be watering the tee boxes immediately before we arrived. Very strange for 2:30 pm

They have completely let this course go. I booked online and photos of course aren't anywhere close to what you'll find in reality. Course is extremely dry and hasn't been watered in years, sprinklers are all broken w 1 foot dia green weeds around the sprinkler which is where you drop after you land in fairway. Bunkers have no sand and are insanely overgrown w weeds, never seen anything like this. Saw a tee time for $11 and took it !! Wow to my amazement pay for what you get , Huh..Staff was very nice though. Just very misleading from what you see online. Gotta ice my wrist, Really..Hard pan.

I’m an avid amateur golfer in the Bay Area. I’m accustomed to muni courses but this course should not be on Golf Now to play.

The course was in great condition although the wind and the temp created dry conditions.

Finally, the course is being cared for! Too bad it is not consistent!

The fairways haven’t been cut in 4-5 days, the bunkers are gone. Filled with weeds. On the bright side the greens are decent. Oh and the bathrooms were locked- why? This course is within a retirement community, on a Sunday afternoon.

This was a course years ago, it’s shameful the conditions the management presents.

Course condition is not good. especially sand trap.

The rough is unplayable, 6in high and grass clippings everywhere. Greens are in reasonably good condition. Fairways unevenly mowed and wide variations of turf and length. Won’t play here again until a competent owner/manager takes over. $20 was terribly spent.
