Rio Vista Golf Club

this is a course that plays well. The conditions for the day were windy at the start and calm at the end.

The course was in great condition and the day was just wonderful. Would love to play it again

All was great yesterday when we played. A little brisk but all else was wonderful.

yesterday's golf round was just great. Course in good shape and great weather!

Even thought the rain is having a positive on the course color, the grass length, the weeds, and the barren spots are out of control.

I like the layout and challenge of this course. The green s are in good condition but slow. Also, the players do not repair their ball marks! This is simply discourteous to the rest of the players.

Except the afternoon breeze, the weather was perfect, sunny and mild temperatures. The is not enjoyable to play due to several areas of the problems.

1. Hole #1. Practically a swamp. Geese’s playgrounds.

2. Fairways. Not taken care of. Bumps and holes all over. All rough grass - not mowed or cleaned. No sight of any maintenance work is being done.

3. Greens are the worst. Geese dungs, divots, damaged grass pockets. Not playable.

4. Bunkers: Some of them are not playable at all Practically there are piles of fallen leaves. No sand.

4. Tee boxes: Dibots , punctured and inconsiderate and inconsistent moves of tee boxes.

We used play at least 2-4 times a month until last month. The course layout is so much fun but it seems that it’s totally neglected to be taken care of.

This is probably not the club’s fault but there was an incident caused by a player. My partner was driving the cart toward the clubhouse and there was a man coming, driving fast and yelling, “Don’t you see it’s one way?” The one way sign on the pavement was faded and further, it’s wide enough to drive even two cars! The older man was driving a fancy personal cart, indicating that he may be a resident player. Our cart was a clubhouse cart. If they don’t want the outside players come, they should not have opened it to the pub, assuming all the maintenance expenses. Plus, I have never seen such a rude golf player in the last 30 Years, especially to a lady golfer.

We will wait until we hear that they have corrected the situation. In the meantime, there are pracally over 100 courses within 40 miles from us , that GolfNow recommend and also welcome us for the business.

They are working on this course. Still in very poor shape but since I have been there last it has gotten a little better, still would not waste my money or time here for at least another few months, I only played here today because I got a rate of $3.59 after a coupon

Course punched greens a week ago, 7 days later they were still pinching greens. Front nine closed. No watering, crevices opening on the tee boxes

The front 9 of this course was HORRIBLE it had weeds and dirt patches all over, I know they are trying to get this course back under control so it may be better in time but for now save your money it’s not a place to play right now

Course needs some TLC, no sand in bunckers, fairways are dirt, weeds are everywhere, only good thing in this course is Greens.

Greens are excellent but the overall irritation system seems to be hit and miss, soggy one place dry the next. The bunkers are awful, some are full of water and all of them need new sand and lots of work. Took us almost 2 hours to go 25 miles from Lodi to the course but called ahead and no problems at all with the staff! Love the greens even if it was blowing like crazy.

This was the first time that I played this course and it will be my last. This course is NOT well maintained. All of the fairways were in horrible condition with dead grass and hard pans everywhere. They over watered most of the fairways which made them muddy. Canadian geese poo everywhere. Six inches of weeds growing in the bunkers and none had sand. Several bunkers had turned into stagnant ponds. Saw grounds keepers working on one bunker. Most of the tees had bald muddy spots and some were covered with weeds. Very slow play and no Marshall to move the slow players along. The only good things about this place is that the greens were in good shape, friendly staff in club house and good carts. Golf Now should not support this course. It was not worth $30 to play there, I need a $25 refund.

This course needs to be removed from golf now. I played here in the past and the conditions were great. Course was well maintained. I could not believe how poorly this course is maintained. They have let every fairway go to waste. Dead grass, hard pan, bare spots, not a single bunker with sand and soaked fairways ? We deserve a full refund. If I knew how bad the entire course was; I would have chosen another course. The greens were actually well kept besides a few that were littered with Canadian geese fodder.

This use to be a pristine course. The only part of the course that sees water is the greens. The fairways and what should be the rough are hard as a rock and the grass is dead. The bunkers are full of weeds and haven’t seen maintenance in years. It shouldn’t be offered on Golf Now until it is sold to an ownership group that cares. Also no place to get a sample hotdog at the turn.

Went to Rio Vista today expecting a fun round of golf with friends, unfortunately course conditions made that completely impossible. Driving in a comment was made that the fairways looked dry, what an understatement. The first hole looked like it hadn't been watered in a month, 2nd hole wasn't much better. Sand traps were the worst I'd ever seen, overgrown with knee high weeds you would have to lift and place outside of them. Two holes were all we could handle there was no way we could play 18 holes on a glorified cow pasture, we decided to turn in our carts and try somewhere else. If that wasn't enough the guy at the pro shop gave us a little attitude after hearing what crappy shape the course was in, as if he hadn't it before from other golfers... he actually wanted us to pay full price. Well after checking with his manager we were allowed to leave, no charge. Bottom line save your gas and time and play elsewhere.
