About
The Golf Club at Rio Vista is situated at the heart of northern California. With a scenic spot near the Sacramento River Delta, the course is even named after its scenic river view. The river delta meets rolling hills on this tough providing a unique setting equipped with distinctive water features. The skillfully crafted water holes are the trademarks of the design. The design mimics the natural lines carved by the river delta. The fairways are wide open but lengthy and generous greens can also be quite challenging as well. Rio Vista is a golf course that has appeal for players of all skill levels from novices to pros, whether it's the scenery or the diverse layout. Be careful on windy days though, the open course can be especially brutal.

Golfer Reviews
Poor service
We arrived at the course to find due to "frost delay and over booking" instead of teeing off at 12;20, it would be at least 1:00. Well, finally at 1:15 we were given a cart and on our way. We sailed through the first holes-then the back up. 2 hours and 20 minutes to play 9 holes.
During our wait....not a single apology from the pro shop, starter.
I'll never go back.
Course in good condition, except for sand traps, more than half of them had no or very little sand. Greens were in good shape. Pro shop staff were very friendly, overall a good experience.
One You Must Play
This is an excellent course to play. Took me a few holes to realize the greens were very fast but true. Bunkers were ok more than I like. Don't be alarmed by the geese and turkeys, they're not bright enough to get out of the way or be aggressive. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Pace of play was ok, there was a foursome in front of us that played a little slow but didn't really affect our game. I live this course, if you are a beginner to mediate player, then this is the course for you. Advanced player will also find enough challenges.
Much improved course since I last played it.
The greens are looking really good. The fairways look a lot better than they looked about 6 months ago. There are a lot of bare spots on the edges and just off the fairways but they don’t affect your game unless you mess up your shots. The bunkers are in desperate need of sand. That’s truly the only black eye that I’d give.
The course layout has always impressed - I found myself saying over and over again ‘ I really like this hole’. If you could fix the bunkers, this course could easily become a favorite golfing destination again.
This course needs a lot of attention.
The course is much improved in the last year but still needs a lot of work.
POORLY MAINTAINED !
They have let course go to ! What a shame , nice layout and can be very nice place to play when maintained properly. Lost its former glory .
Good Value
This course is a good value for the price.
Course continues to be upgraded after being left unmanaged for a year.
Soggy Day
I haven't played here for a few years and didn't realize they'd closed the driving range. Our foursome got there an hour early and even though it was a slow day with no one on the 1st tee we were told to wait. Apparently you can't even get your cart early for some unknown reason. I've always liked the layout here and will probably go back there, I just won't show up early anymore. Greens were nice too.
Watch your step
The was very soggy from recent rains. The bigger problem was the tremendous amount of goose poop. Almost every hole tees to green were inundated with it.
The greens were nice.
This course is fun to plan however Worrier who owns the course have let it deteriorate which is a shame.
Most of the tee boxes and fairways have dry spots and weeds growing in them. The water hazards have been let go and are very muddy with allergy growing in them. If Worrier would fix it up it could be a great course. Then I would recommend it to my friends.
Winter time
Well haven't played here for two years or more since they closed the practice range, new owners are not taking care ,another golf course in run down condition ,what a shame ,this used to be one the most challenging tracks around don't waste your money...
Friendliness
Course has the most friendly staff and personnel that I have ever experienced on a golf course. Even other players were very helpful and friendly. I enjoyed my round at a relaxing pace and shot a very nice score because of it I will recommend this course to friends and family most det
Fun Course
It could be a very nice course but there has been a lack of good maintenance for several years. If management would bring it back to what it use to be I'm sure more golfers would come..
Good value
It had been a while since my last round at this course. For a Saturday round, it took me a little over 3 hours to play 18 holes, which is fast for a Saturday.
There was no wind. Only a little fog but not enough to make a difference.
Unfortunately the course was not in the condition I remember. I saw only two or three bunker that you could play out if. The rest were overgrown, under water, or didn’t have any sand left. The fairways were not in good shape. A lot of patches of dead grass.
The greens were ok.
The tee boxes needed to be mowed.
Hopefully the next time I go back the course will be in a better condition.
Overall, still a good price and a fun round of golf.
Run down and poorly maintained
Large brown spots throughout the fairways, sand traps without much sand, very slow and bumpy greens. What was once a nice course is not worth the time or money to play. Sad.
Would like credit
Was unable to play due to illness, couldn't cancel online and have poor cell service where I'm staying. Got through to customer service after 8 tires but got no return call. Got through to course in 3 tries and cancelled the round. They are unable to give me a refund or credit.
Ronald,
I apologize about the inconvenience.
However, unfortunately because of the freezing temperatures we had over night we had an hour frost delay.
The reasons golf courses have frost delays is to prevent damage that affects the quality of the playing surface and could potentially be very expensive to repair. Frost is basically frozen dew that has crystallized on the grass, making it hard and brittle.
This is a common practice for most courses in colder climates.
Also, when playing our course anyone can expect a 4 to 4.5 hour round.
Again, I apologize about your experience and we hope to have you out here again.
