Whitney Oaks Golf Club

About
Whitney Oaks Golf Club in Rocklin sits just half an hour from Sacramento but the stunning landscape blanketed with thousands of live oaks feels much more secluded. In addition to the trees, massive granite outcroppings accent the course. It is both a visually stunning and formidable championship layout. The diverse topography is the focus, providing many challenges with the elevation changes and towering trees that line the narrow fairways. The rolling topography helped to determine the placement of the bunkers. Wetlands come into play throughout the golf course, also serving as home to numerous varieties of indigenous wildlife. The golf course finishes with a tough hole, a long par 5 that is flanked by wetlands on both the left and right. Whitney Oaks G.C. also has a practice facility with a 15-station driving range, a putting green, and pitching area.

Approach on #2. Do NOT go long. Photo submitted by Calnative02 on 05/01/2019
Springtime golf
I played Whitney Oaks today & found the course in good shape. The greens were quick & rolled true, there was sand in the bunkers and fairways rolled out. Pictures are the approach on #2 & 3 out of 4 balls on the 4th green.
Great course especially for the price
Greens were in great condition. A few fairways were under repair. It great for the value
Course is in great condition, pace of play was under 4 hours.
As u said Whitney Oaks Apr 17,2024
Front 9 was challenging, I lost several balls& got lost on course. Starter put me up with an elderly couple who had played at Whitney oaks prior but they forgot layout.
Well back 9 is really a challenge, 5 or 6 holes with Swamp, ditches or boulders in from of the greens means u need a high approach shot. Greens very fast! Tee boxes in excellent condition! Now I know the lay out, I want to play Whitney Oaks again.
Challenging
Narrow with lots of trouble. Course in great shape. Greens are FAST…with multiple levels and undulation.
If you want a challenging, gorgeous course….you found it. Bring your A game.
Whitney Oaks Wednesday Apr 17,2024
I had read many negative reviews about Whitney Oaks on YELP!
I did not expect this quality course.
greens were so very fast. TEE areas were so tidy.
Staff were very helpful. a few of the holes on front nine were long for a senior, but the back nine, wow!
there was at least 5 holes with water, ditches, or rocks in front of the green so i could not be on in 2 strokes.
so challenging. (not knowing the golf course made it more challenging)
Starter set me up with a couple of seniors who had played the course, or I would have been
so lost. (watch out for some snakes and wild turkeys. )
I would love to play this one again!
Great Condition with Challenging Layout
This course probablynot gonna be your favorite golf course if you are an average weekend golfer.
It requires calculated approach to each shot if you want to save your ball tee to green.
Course is in great shape although there are few wet spots in fairways that are marked with ropes so you can take relief.
If you like to challenge your golf skills this is perfect course for you. But if you like to spend a weekend with your buddies laughing and drinking beer, this course is not for you!
where was the Marshall
The course is in great shape and a fun challenging course. However on this round we dealt with a foursome trying to play their own scramble and they were slow. We averaged waiting 10 minutes on the tee before we could shoot and there was no one in front of these guys playing. The round took 5 1/2 hours to play. A twosome whose tee time was 2:20, an hour after we tee'd off played with us from the 10th hole on. GET THE MARSHALL'S OUT THERE TO REGELATE THE ITIOTS!
Whitney Oaks is in great shape
Whitney oaks is in great shape; from the Teebox to the Fairways to the greens to the sand traps - all well-maintained. That said it remains the toughest course in the Sacramento area. It is an excellent track with a variety of holes, but there is trouble on practically every hole and quite a few forced carries, etc.. despite the difficulty, really enjoy this course.
great day hitting a little white ball
The course was in phenomenal condition and a perfect day considering the rain we have had here. The staff was awesome and pace of play was just over three hours.
