Go Play LPGA! Photo submitted by oakleyduff on 06/26/2013
Will never play it again.
Tee time was delayed by 90 minutes. There were no cards available. Construction of houses, course is run down.
Not enough golf carts. Egregious!
Had a 1:15 pm tee time. Showed up and lots of golfers standing around. Staff was indifferent which I couldn’t blame them. Everyone was waiting on golf carts to be returned from the earlier rounds.
Can you imagine a supposed premium golf venue NOT having enough golf carts during the prime golf season. We teed off an hour after our tee time and we got done just at dark. Poor golfers behind us probably couldn’t finish.
Course was nice, but insufficient carts is unacceptable.
Golf course busy due to special going on.greens very good.only issue fairways and rough wet.alot of mud balls
Starter very pleasant.
Oversight lacking
Tee time 1:15, no cart until 1:40. Old foursome in front split into 2 very slow twosomes. Pace of play was horrendous. No marshal to regulate pace. Round took 5 hours. Course is in excellent condition and by far the best courses in the area. Tee box was stacked with 4 foursomes throughout the round with no improvement. On course management needs to improve. Groups shouldn’t be able to do whatever they want.
Pin placement
We love coming out the LPGA and playing golf. Conditions are always very good and the staff is friendly. Very helpful. Very disappointed in the pin locations today. Not sure if they had a tournament recently or the guys were just trying to be funny. . The pins were literally 3 to 4 feet from the edge of the greens at times and on large slopes. Made it very difficult to have an enjoyable round of golf.
Good
It was in great condition good pace until we caught up to some foursomes on 14. Shane they are building so many house and taking away the beauty of the course.
A Beautiful day to golf
A beautiful day for golf Mike the starter was great. Course was nice Greens were beautiful
Staff friendly
All the staff was ver knowledgeable and offered friendly service. Mike, the starter, even went extra steps to make our day playing golf enjoyable.
Hills Course LPGA International
The course was in perfect condition. It is challenging and some shots require a bit of analysis over your average course. I enjoyed the layout and will play there again.
Things are changing...
Hills used to be a challenging but enjoyable walk through the woods. No more. They have ***obliterated*** every square inch of available real estate for homes. Sight lines to greens have changed markedly. Esthetics be damned. Course was in decent shape anyway and for this time of year. Played with a member who tells me Hills is closing for 6-8 months in May to redo all the greens like they did to Jones a few years ago. Interesting timing with all the construction going on, but ok. Hope they take 2023 to get all of that area together.
Pace of play was not great. Members just don't seem to care about letting faster groups through. Several groups behind us quit at the turn. Singles were leapfrogging around to get holes in where they could, cutting in on those of us who were playing in order. We could've been done 30-45 minutes faster with any courtesy at all, and the ranger didn't seem to care. I mentioned pace of play to him. He's the first LPGA staffer I've ever encountered who has ever been anything but pleasant with me. Kinda rude, actually.
All in all, I'm a regular there. I'll be playing Jones for the foreseeable future. I hope this was a one off experience. The course layout is great....the rest of the day, not.
Good condition
Took my daughter to play here for the first time, she enjoyed very much, from now she demands I will keep taking her to play nice golf course like this one. 😂 haha
Fun Day
Love the Hills course. Course was wet due to heavy rain the night before and it was super windy so it made the course in tough conditions. Saw some cool wildlife, example a bobcat on hole 1, bald eagle also. It’s a shame so many homes are being built around the Hills course cause it makes the course not as beautiful. Overall a very fun day with good customer service all around.
Traffic Jam
We had planned to arrive an hour early so we could hit a few balls, and roll some putts but the traffic on I4 said otherwise. We had to rush to the first tee, and needless to say the first few holes were ugly. I would definitely like to come back and play the Hills course again.
Course Experience Going Downhill
The day was cool, so the course was not as busy as usual, which is fortunate as my playing companions were quite slow. I felt sorry for the group(s) behind us. No sign of a ranger to monitor pace of play. New home construction has really spoiled the ambiance of this course. The golf cart fleet is old and needs to be replaced. Also, make sure your cart has a rake because there are no rakes in the bunkers around the course. This results in really bad lies in the bunkers. Generally a disappointing day as I usually really enjoy playing this course.
Best course in the area!
I have played this course a few years ago and love it, and then replayed it, and it was as amazing as I remembered it.
Extremely well designed and challenging. The condition was very good too, and it is a very beautiful course that meanders through pines, palms and water areas.
For higher handicappers this course may be too tough, but for better golfers this is one of the best courses in FL
