The Reserve at Orange Lake Resort
About
There are two 18-hole championship courses and two nine-hole courses at Orange Lake Resort & Country Club. The Reserve is the newer of the championship golf courses although technically it could be considered the older of the two. Originally designed in 1982 by Joe Lee, 16 years before the Arnold Palmer-designed Legends was added, the course was completely redesigned in 2005. New water features and more sand were added and seven holes were rerouted and redesigned. One hole that was made more challenging was the fifth hole. A long par 4 was transformed into a long par 3 that plays to almost 215 yards. In addition to the four golf courses, Orange Lake also boasts a lighted driving range and putting green as well as two chipping greens, one which features a sand bunker.

A "used to be nice" course
This was a nice course that has fallen into poor condition. Fairways had little grass, many of the greens had bare spots and all had various grasses poking thru the green. All in all, an expensive lesson learned.
The course was great except for the fairways. They were hard with little grass. I had a hard time getting under the ball.
Save your money
Do yourself a favor...Save your money or book a Disney course. This golf course was brutal. The "fairways" are brown and the greens, while fast, were very patchy. Most of the front 9 and some of the back 9 feels like you are playing at an abandoned military base. It is like a scene out of The Walking Dead...the small amount of people we saw as well.
The traps are in awful shape and some of the bridges have not been touched since 1982 when the course was last manicured.
The biggest surprise was that we played Disney Magnolia the day before and it was less expensive and a fantastic experience.
Don't bother wasting your money at this course.
Orange Lake Reserve
As a long time owner it is sad to see that they are not maintaining the course as well as they need to, to get people out to play. Fairways are sparse, rough s patchy. Suprisingly the greens are in good condition
Nice layout
I paid 44 bucks to play this course with cart. You can find better courses for almost have the price of this one, but I really enjoy the layout of the course. Very little driver play for me. I just really enjoy being able to play some good yardages and be left with nice 2nd shots.
The greens were pretty quick and rolled well. They didn't look nice though. Lots of weeds that are growing in the greens. Again looks were horrible, but they did roll decent. As far as fairways, not great, grass is very thin. I dint mind tight lies, so the hard panda didn't bother me, just not astetically pleasing at all. This course will also be packed during this time of year.
I will say, if this course management could get there stuff together, I could see this course being a gem. Right now, I would play as long as my discount is nice
Not a $60 course
Greens were good and also quick. Fairway turf was sparse. Sometimes had to move the ball to enable a shot off turf. Hadn't played here for a couple of years and had the same issues which were.conveyed to management. Thought by now they would be fixed. Some things just never change.
Course needs TLC
From the first tee, it was obvious that very little attention was given to this course. There was very little grass on any part of this course. The tees had large areas of no grass, only dirt. Most fairways had sparse areas of grass and lots of weeds. It was also difficult to differentiate between fairways and rough. There were many areas where the fairways had only dirt. The grass on the greens had bare spots with dirt and weeds intermingled with the grass. When the beverage cart came, the price for a 12oz can of soda was $3.00 and a small bag of chips was $3.00. If you want to spend 4+ hours on the weeds and dirt this is the place for you. If you want to play golf, there are many better places to choose.
A place to play
We had played the course a few years ago and enjoyed the play of it. While we had a good time playing yesterday, the course conditions were not what we remembered. The greens had different grasses growing through making the putting area a bit uneven. The fairways and rough were lacking grass in some areas. It seemed that the course could really use a good watering.
First time play of Orange Lake reserve
Visiting Orange Lake for first time and finding Reserve course is different. No clubhouse, proshop is located in a retail shopping plaza. Staff was very friendly.
Course was in Good Condition. Greens were 11 on Stimp meter, with undulating slopes to challenge putting skills. Only negative was sprouts of non bermuda grass on some greens. Winds of up to 20 offer club selection challenges holes buffered by trees. Would play the course again. Nice Alligator on water bank behind 13th green!
Overall good condition
Pretty good track. Not too much water or sand. Could be better if the greens were rolled on occasion. Quite bumpy.
Clubhouse hard to find
Instead of saying Reserve clubhouse it says Marketplace. Greens were good but the fairways had many bare spots and needed water. Wooden bridges need asphalt Ramos on both ends. I rate this as 2.5 stars
The course is average, little if NO ballwashers or water for drinking.
Play was slow, waited for most shots, Fairtways were in poor shape.
They Should Pay You to Play Here
The grounds conditions were horrendous. Cannot imagine who plays there and dares to compare to the Legends. We have played many courses here in Florida as we play every day for the 2 weeks we are here each year. We left after first 9 holes.
Horribly Run Facility
I have to say that this is the most poorly run course I've ever played. My brother and I arrived early for our 750 am tee time. We had our clubs shippped from NYC to their location via ship sticks. This apparently was a massive burden on the customer that they had no interest in solving....
I was informed that although the clubs are brought to the pro shop... they actually bring all club shipments to their maintenance facility. I was told I had to drive 10 minutes to a mysterious maintenance and LAUNDRY facility used by the resort. The staff couldn't help... I had to clean up their stupid process. We arrive at the maintenance facility only to find it doesn't open until 8 am.... our tee time was at 750. I called the pro shop to send someone down he said there was nothing he could do. I asked them .... shouldnt you open earlier knowing people ship their clubs here AND also play before 8 am.....duh.
We notified them to push back our tee time. They made 0 effort to accomodate us when we approached the first tee. They made us wait for a window when a group was late. The starter literally told us we may have to miss our afternoon 18 tee time.
The course itself is in very poor shape. Dirt patches on the green and tee boxes. I didn't feel like I was at a resort but a local muni. Overall there is no reason to play this course with so many great golf courses in the surrounding area.
TOTAL GARBAGE
What a JOKE!!
This resort and course literally reminds me of the movie Hot Tub Time Machine. You can tell this resort and course we're great about ten years ago, and when you go back for the same fun and golf
It's an absolute joke and run down resort. Course was extremely dry greens had sandy patches almost mini bunker like. $65 prime time
Is a joke for this. 1 beer cart girl for 2 courses saw her once on 13 no water stations and it was 88 degrees out. Avoid this place to the max unless you are a new golfer and just looking to play but make sure you get it for less then $40. The layout is great and has so much potential. Staff and Rangers were great and greens were actually fast just rough. This place has no care about maintenance even the resort. Never will be back and I don't recommend any of
You go.
