The Reserve at Orange Lake Resort
About
There are two 18-hole championship courses and two nine-hole courses at Orange Lake Resort & Country Club. The Reserve is the newer of the championship golf courses although technically it could be considered the older of the two. Originally designed in 1982 by Joe Lee, 16 years before the Arnold Palmer-designed Legends was added, the course was completely redesigned in 2005. New water features and more sand were added and seven holes were rerouted and redesigned. One hole that was made more challenging was the fifth hole. A long par 4 was transformed into a long par 3 that plays to almost 215 yards. In addition to the four golf courses, Orange Lake also boasts a lighted driving range and putting green as well as two chipping greens, one which features a sand bunker.

The Reserve March Break
Busy course at this time of year due to March Break visitors. Fairways in decent shape, greens were bare in spots but playable. Overall good value, our round took 4 1/2 hours to finish so not too bad.
OK for the money
Guess the course was okay for the discounted rate of $50 but surely wouldn't pay rack rate. Fairways scruffy; tight lies everywhere in fairway. Had to roll significantly to find grass.

Scruffy Condition
The clubhouse is also the market place for a very busy development, took us a while to figure it out. The fairways are in poor condition as are the greens on the front 9, the greens improve on the back 9. Most of the holes are lined by row after row of the ugliest and most unimaginative holiday villas I have seen for years.
This will be my first and final round here. Not worth the money.
Nice course.....
But expensive if you don't find a HOT DEAL!! We usually wait until the Snow Birds go home then it's cheaper.
Orange Lake-Reserve
Not your typical resort course. Layout is far from boring & can be difficult. Course seems to have had a lot of play, conditions have been better previous times I've played. Still a good place to play.
Nice course. Fairway grass thin
Great staff. Excellent pace of play. Greens ran true. Fairways are a little thin. Needed a little winter overseeing program. That being said, I have played this course the last five days. Would recommend giving the course a play.
Course Conditions Not That Good For First Week of Mar
Fairways are not in good condition - seems like golf club have not started their spring course management!!
Not good
did not like course, it is jammed in around many houses full of folks who don't like golfers being there. Many courses in area more reasonably priced.
Beautiful day for Golf
Rather slow pace of play as slow foursome followed by 3/4 twosomes.
foul language by cart attendant
After finishing my round I drove the cart to my car which was parked two spots from the cart return area. The cart boy went into a rage with language that included f this and f that. Quite a poor representation for the resort and golf course.
Good for relaxed golfing
It was a good practice course for us as we came from Chicago.
Good challenging course
Nice course and would recommend to all but would suggest the tee times be made through golfnow since you will get a better value.
Best pace of play all week..
Extrememly pleased with course condition and pace of play..Well done OL.
orange lake reserve
back 9 much longer and tougher than front-more carries. Not a walkable course. greens in great shape tricky to putt. lots of places to lose balls.
starting was willy-nilly "just go to first tee". we lucked out with a fine player.
Course was better than average
Greens were in real good shape and this course is a good value.
Brian Taylor
While I generally enjoy Joe Lee course designs, he was not given much to work with here. The resort buildings severely encroach the course on many of the holes. There were several times during the round when I felt folks sitting outside their condos were in danger of being struck by errant shots. Worse still, the course was in very poor condition...brown fairways with numerous bare spots. The greens were in similar shape, with lots of dirt and not much turf.
Staff was friendly and accomodating. Resort is nicely maintained, so the poor conditions of the course was a surprise.
Golfball
The fairway grass was not good at all. Very bare lies all the time. Greens are ok and layout is old fashioned Florida. Crowed play also
Tough layout/conditions
Course was in rough shape. Hard as a rock in some areas and soft in others. Found my self poking the ground before every shot to try and feel what I was hitting off of. Could be a great/fun course if in better condition. Tough to find those greens while hitting from and landing on rock hard dirt. Would be upset if I paid full price.
not a great experience
GPS took me to the wrong orange lake resort...tried to call and let them know and find out if there was still a tee time. Basically its a call center, they cant give you directions, they cant connect you to the club house, and like all call centers they put you on hold over and over again as the staff is baffled by a simple request. Once I got to the course the manager behind the desk was dismissive and border line rude. the course was OK. VERY narrow but well maintained. Pace was OK. One note, there were people wandering all over the course, walking dogs, hunting for golf balls, walking their parents, and generally using the cart path as a linear park....pretty dangerous....
