The Reserve at Orange Lake Resort
About
There are two 18-hole championship courses and two nine-hole courses at Orange Lake Resort & Country Club. The Reserve is the newer of the championship golf courses although technically it could be considered the older of the two. Originally designed in 1982 by Joe Lee, 16 years before the Arnold Palmer-designed Legends was added, the course was completely redesigned in 2005. New water features and more sand were added and seven holes were rerouted and redesigned. One hole that was made more challenging was the fifth hole. A long par 4 was transformed into a long par 3 that plays to almost 215 yards. In addition to the four golf courses, Orange Lake also boasts a lighted driving range and putting green as well as two chipping greens, one which features a sand bunker.

not what the reviews stated
the course was in rough condition need some work every where around course we will not play this course again I is over priced pace of play was a bit slow but that is because people don't go by golf etiquette greens need work
Enjoyed our round very much
Good pace of play in the first nine holes, however slowed down in the last nine. Still was very enjoyable
One of my favorite courses in the area
This is my third year staying in the Kissimmee - Orlando area and we have always enjoyed playing this course. We played it twice this week and found the course to not be in it's best shape. I am not sure if it has been really wet down here this fall or if they are over watering, but we found wet and really soft muddy conditions throughout the course. We will be back in the area for the month of January and I am sure we will play here then as well. Great value for the experience.
Decent Value
Enjoyable round here playing as a single (with wife riding along for free). Course is pretty straightforward- although lack of any visual depiction of the holes on the scorecard or at the tee box was a little disconcerting. Many holes are tight with cookie-cutter condos lining the fairways and greens. Greens in good shape, fast and easy to read. Fairways with some weeds but generally fine.
Sign at the course said cart path only due to overseeding- the groups before and after me ignored that so I decided to as well- no rangers anywhere I could see.
Good starter course to shake off the winter rust. If you're looking for someplace special, pay more somewhere else.
Tough track
This course is a little more challenging then its sister course (Legends) and not as long. The fairways are alot tighter with less room for era, so pick your spots accordingly. There are a few blind areas, and some shots play longer than they look. Greens were in fairly good shape but I have seen them better.
Range balls
The course overall was in decent condition, some of the greens were a little worn but were still quick and ran true. On the downside, a small bucket of range balls was nearly 10 dollars. That's pretty much twice as much as anywhere else I've played. Also the drinking water fountains on the course didn't work and the vending machines were out of order. We stopped in the club house at the turn to buy a fountain drink, the server was rude and must have told me 4 times that there were no refills. Back to the golf and I enjoyed it, the holes weren't the longest but were varied and interesting.
Not spectacular course
Played this course as I wanted to play at cheap rate. The course itself is well maintained but not spectacular at all. Course lay out between holiday homes. For advanced golfers not the course to play
Just play
Let's get this out of the way first...do not stop for food at the turn! We ordered 4 hot-dogs and this confused the staff. We were told 7 minutes for the hot-dogs. Kept being told "food will be ready in a minute" and we foolishly waited 40 minutes to get it.
Now out of sequence we have to allow 2 groups to proceed us on the 10th. On the back 9 we are pursued by several one & twosomes for some reason.
Staff related to golfing side of this Resort were excellent. Attentive, helpful, friendly with personality, knowledgeable and quick. The course is pretty well maintained and pleasant to play. Not a lot of variety in yardages as most of the Par 4's measured within about 10 yards of each other.
Not my favourite layout, but nice with overall good value and well selected and trained staff. Would consider going again but will not stop after the 9th hole.
Another great course!
Course is a nice arrangement of holes. Not overly tight, but you have to make the shots. Watch the water by the green on the hardest hole on the course, according to the score card. Very good conditions from tee to green. Fun and playable. We'll be back.
poorly maintained
too many bugs.
not good vlue for money
not maintained
course deteriorated compared to 2 yrs ago
Another great round at teh Reserve's
We played three out of five days at the Reserve's last week and enjoyed every round. Nice people, great value, and the weather was perfect. Thanks Golfnow for making our vacation stress free!
Bunkers, Water and Rough - Oh My!
Setting the tone with a triple bogey on the first hole did not bode well for the rest of the round.
While I hit 10 of 14 fairways, more times then not my approach shots to the greens ended up in a bunker or water. Fairways and greens were in great shape for the time of year.
Don't get me wrong - this is a beautiful but challenging course that was on our bucket list, along with the Orange Lake Legends, which we played a few days later. But it was a humbling experience.
Enjoyable round
We booked this course with a hot deal on golf now. We picked it based on the convenient location, and good reviews. We were very happy with our choice.. Only 10 minute drive from magic kingdom. Course was interesting, and challenging, and I great shape. Rate of play was excellent. We would definitely recommend it, and go back ourselves, if we are in the area again.
Great Value
Nice pace or play..value excellent. .challenging but fair
Orange Lake Reserve
The greens and fairways were in great shape! The pace of play was much better than expected and my partner and I were treated like VIPs by the staff!
Vacation golf
Course conditions were ok pace was good value for the money was very good. Would play again
Don't be over confident
After playing the first 3 holes, I thought that this was not a very good course... the first 3 holes are very easy.... After that, you need to place your tee shots. Some holes are very long when hitting into the wind... Great course for the value. Staff was extremely nice and courteous. I had the back nine to myself. Several small gators were on the banks to remind you that you are golfing in Florida.
Very nice course
I played early in morning.course was in good condition and was challenging without being impossible. Great value. Very attractive course.
Changed
It's hard to complain about a $15 round. I understand that not very long ago this course was one of the best in Orange County. The fairways are a little thin, greens are slow with some crabgrass. The course has good bones but is in need of attention. The Pro Shop is located within a convenience store for the resort. I can only recommend this course as a value attraction. With some money, time and direction this course can be great again.
